| I prefer Megumi's voice to May'n but May'n definitely has the better song selection and has much more range. Megumi's songs looked at together are all pretty similar, with May'n you can kinda lump in Welcome to my fanclub, Infinity and Don't Be Late together, those 3 are sung differently than What bout my star and those 4 are different from Diamond Crevasse. May'n is also singing mainly in character as Sheryl, the closest her actual singing voice has come to being heard is Diamond Crevasse. OST 1/10 episodes = voting for Sheryl/May'n |
| I love Ranka, I really do, but this isn't really a comparison. The OST is a musical correlation to where we are in the show right now (if that makes sense). Sheryl's the star in Macross Frontier right now, and she's the star of this album. Sure, they have the same number of apperances on the album each, but let's look at that: Sheryl: Welcome to My Fanclub 3:45 What 'bout my star 5:02 Iteza - Gogo 9ji - Don't Be Late 6:01 Infinity 4:08 Diamond Crevasse 5:57 Ranka: What 'bout my star @Formo mall 4:46 Aimo 1:33 Ninji-n Loves you yeah 1:02 "Chou Jikuu Hanten Nyan Nyan" CM Song (Ranka Version) 0:23 Aimo ~ Tori no Hito 3:38 I like Sheryl's songs better, but Ranka isn't really given a chance to shine on this album. She's got five songs, yeah, but one's a remix, one's a clip from a commercial, one's a cover of one of Sheryl's songs, and one's another advertisement song about carrots (admittedly awesome, but STILL). Meanwhile Sheryl gets five full-length songs here. I love both their voices but there's no way from this album I can vote for Ranka. (ESPECIALLY since Sheryl was given Infinity to sing all by herself, and that's my favorite song out of Macross F thus far.) |

| That new ED song on ep 11 is quite nice also! i bet that'll go on the next ost. but as story is progressing, Ranka is getting more popular, and is about to have her very first live show soon! ugh...why am i getting so excited over some songs in anime? |

| I vastly prefer Ranka's version of What 'bout my Star, and Aimo ~ Tori no Hito is gorgeous. Nakajima Megumi has a brilliant voice and can seriously belt out some tunes, amazingly so for a 16yo (well, she's 17 now but was 16 when those were recorded.) So far I prefer Sheryl as a character and as a suitor for Alto, but Ranka definitely has me won over, musically. Especially that she's doing her own songs, unlike Sheryl who is voiced by Endo Aya but the songs are vocalised by Nakabayashi May. (aka May'n) Granted she's only 18, but has been singing for a few years already -- this is Nakajima Megumi's debut as a seiyuu and artist. But I digress, since that's not really related to the characters themselves. Ranka is cute, but I stand by my opinion that she's too much of a little sister type to be a suitor. |
| It's clear how Alto treats Ranka, even from the beginning. he only sees her as a friend, or someone he needs to look over. like a sibling. but as things are going, Ranka may throw Sheryl over in terms of New pop Idol. |

I don't really think you can hold it against Sheryl that May'n is singing and that Aya Endo is voicing her. Same thing has happened for Basara in Macross 7 and the main singers in NANA. And personally Aya Endo is doing an amazing job as Sheryl, Megumi is good and hopefully she will work in the industry more than Minmei's VA did but Aya Endo is using Sheryl as a stepping stone to the top. Megumi's best delivered line hasn't even been used in the show yet... and will probably happen in the final episode... |
| Oh, I don't hold it against her at all. I just prefer Ranka's songs to Sheryl's so far, and think Megumi sounds better than May. That's a personal preference. For actual character development I still think Sheryl wins. But then we honestly haven't seen a lot of Ranka yet. Been very Sherylcentric so far. Ranka is just starting out in her career, so we'll be seeing a lot more of her. But unless we have some sort of time-skip, I still won't be able to seee Ranka as anything but an imouto character. Sheryl is just a better suitor as things currently stand. |

| Japan seems to prefer Sheryl's singing. Triangler's first week: 34,961 Don't be Late's first week: 42,714 Seikan Hikou's first week: 34,501 May'n's next single Lion/Northern Cross should do big figures since it has the 2nd half OP and ED. |
| I like much more the Gabriela Robin's (Kanno's) style on Ranka's songs, than the pop Maaya Sakamoto (because there have been non-so-pop-but-indie-like Maaya's albums) of Sheryl's. Both rule, tough, but since I feel more freedom on Ranka's, my vote goes for her. |
| For some reason i like sheryl better, her personality and her singing voice too. Ranka is good too but i just have to go with sheryl, shes great. |

| May'n outshined Megumi rather easily on Lion, just like how Maaya's version of Aimo was better... not to mention that Bobby's version of the carrot song beats Ranka's as well XD |

| Im a fan of Sheryl, and i really love her voice and her appearance. i love her 'bitch' .LOL. But i i like ranka too, her voice is cute and pure. They have a different type of voice, and if you hear, you must like all. Sheryl with the powerful diva voice, ranka with her angel and cute voice. So, i think both is awesome |
| Okay. Maaya as Sheryl is preferable in my ears now. Ranka's singing is easy to listen to, and usually 'fun' like in my boyfriend is a pilot, But sheryl's singing just gets me chills every time. I've converted. Sheryl for both character, AND singer. |
