Funny episode, follows the manga almost panel-to-panel. Too bad about the censorship. I also think that the original season's OP was quite a bit better than this one's.

Yea the first To Love Ru OP was really good, almost a bad comparison. This seemed nice, very clean animation and I think all the seiyus are back. I always found Yui to be the most ummm 'sultry'.

Is this one I can pick up without watching the previous seasons or no?

Would seem like no.

I was expecting it to be a FMAB style remake based on the MAL description, but so far it seems to be picking up after S1/OVA's, so I'd suggest watching those first.

At any rate, aside from the censoring, I really enjoyed this. It's good to have Torubbaru back.

I haven't read the manga, but at what point does it go back in time and start over? Even the episode preview looks like it's a continuation.

I'll agree with the OP not being as good as S1. Although generally I don't really get into any anime OP's ED's, there are a few out there I like, and the first to love ru series had a great op.

I just can't watch it with all these THOU-SHALL-NOT-SEE-ECCHI rays. This sux.

And come on, three stories in single ep? Don't like the idea. If I remember correctly, the exact same things happend in manga. Following manga is good, but I think in this particular anime they should add something from themselves. In first season it worked well. The episodes there where full with action, ecchi and laughter. I smiled only ONCE watching this episode.

And btw, since when there is such problem with ecchi things? In Ladies versus Buttlers there was no problem obtaining uncensored ep. And now? We can only hope there'll be uncensored blu-ray version. What the hell is going on?! -_-'

Japan - I'm dissapointed in you.

Well IIRC Ladies vs butlers also had two airing times. The first was the censored and the second uncensored. Lets hope AT-X will provide us with uncensored

It is good to see more of To Love-ru, especially an anime that follows the manga.

I'll say i don't watch for the ecchi shots, but the censorship just is annoying at times. This is because instead of censoring the general area they decided to go with the monstrous fog and sunlight approach.

Anyways not bad. As long as they pick the right chapters I'll be happy. Wonder if there will be an original anime ending. ./wish

it goes back during the episode 2 part of the episode (there were three chapters shown in this episode). the style seems to be similar to the final ova where they take random chapters and animate them.
it is highly possible that they'll incorporate past chapters while making the show seem like in chronological order so it won't confuse new comers but still keep the originality of each chapter to comfort those who read the manga

speaking of which, the manga has a sequel that's starting up called "To Love Ru Darkness"; since this one is not in Weekly Shonen Jump, it's not as censored but it really gets the story moving unlike the random (although enjoyable) chapters the original To Love Ru had

Hmm, are all the episode going to be these short clips? I hope it's just for the first one because I would prefer an actual story. >.<

Anyway, especially liked the Kotegawa Yui scenes, she was really cute and sexy in this episode. Of course she's totally tsundere for Rito =P
Hope we're going to see more of her.

All in all a nice beginning of the season. =)

I guess the OVAs spoiled me with them being uncensored. The "light" censor was pretty annoying and seemed kinda random.

The season felt very different compared to the original season. It's more like the manga than the first season comedy-wise. I also really didn't like that the colors have been toned down compared to the original season. It gives the show a more serious tone.

Unless they do a flashback story, I guess they'll never tell Celine's backstory in the anime. She was an actual plant in one OVA, then in human form a couple OVAs later. Now she's in the second season with no introduction. It's going to be weird if this show gets licensed for DVD release w/o the OVAs explaining a couple of the new characters.

Seriously put off by the art style of the show, or rather, the permanent blush that seemed the plague episode and LadiesXButlers. Generic as it may be, I don't like the animators adding their own "touch" to the characters >.>

point
maybe thats why we hate it in the first place. sometimes censoring is unnecessary such as if your target audience is old enough not to giggle at something stupid
other times it can interfere in the plot and/or the show artistically.

The censorship is funky. Sometimes it's sunbeams and fog everywhere and in some parts just some hair covering nipples etc. it's not exactly consistent and sometimes it was clearly just half-assed (pun: it hides an ass or two in one scene)

Am I missing something? Because I DID NOT get the plot whatsoever.

This looks like your typical harem/one girl is a tsundere kind of anime. But I guess I'll keep watching to see if it gets better.

It's an alien tree Lala bought whatsihface as a present. He nurtured it and it grew and then there was this big arc where the tree was going through some changes culminating in the tree turning into a little girl.

Does that count as a spoiler? If you're looking to read the manga then it kind of is, but as far as the anime goes this all has presumably already happened.

This has been said about seventeen thousand times, but a couple things:

First, I didn't watch the OVAs that came out before this did - am I supposed to? Will that fill in the story holes (such as that fucking cute plant thing and the two sisters)?

Second, the story SEEMS like it's picking up from where the first left off, but is that just the convenience of having the first series' ending (to avoid spoilers)?

I think Kuusano from Sekirei and the plant from Motto should have their own show, TBH.

I haven't watched any of the previous anime material but it seems like the sisters and the tree would likely be more than six episodes worth, or would at least take up a pretty large chunk of the ova. I'd guess that the ovas wouldn't successfully link the series together either. I'm not 100% on that. I picked it up here after reading the manga.

the crossover spinoff you describe sounds adorable.

Edit: The mal entry on the ovas lays out each episode and make no mention of the introduction of the sisters or the tree storyline. So I'm thinking no.

Watch OVA 4. It will basically fill you in on the new characters. It'll introduce Nana & Momo. OVA 4 also shows Celine's earlier form near the end of it.

Interesting ep.

This was ep1.
Most important characters in this ep: Yami, Mikan/Lala, Yui (in that order!)
Who's Haruna again?

Well, I personally couldn't care less because I'm not a big Haruna fan... and love Yami/Mikan. (Yui and Lala are nice as well)

So for me it was pretty much perfect.. but it's funny. Maybe we can expect some more Yami this season and Haruna... well... supporting I guess. :D

edit: And they seem to not care about a timeline at all. Showing the twins in the beginning but having earlier chapters afterwards... I think. Not too sure, bit it all feels very disconnected.
