Recover Password / Confirmation Email Problems

For the time being, please contact DeNA's Customer Support for password recoveries.


For users that can't find the automated password recovery feature, please see here.

If you have used that form and still haven't received the email, first make sure you've checked your junkmail. If the email still isn't there, your service provider is likely one of the following, and is blocking MAL's emails:
  • AT&T webdomains (att.net, pacbell.net, sbcglobal.net, comcast.net, etc.)
  • a-teleport.com
  • bk.ru
  • freenet.de
  • mail.*
  • op.pl
  • onet.eu
  • seznam.cz
  • ukr.net
  • wp.pl

Recover Password Problems

The user with the password recovery problem should join our IRC channel (#myanimelist@rizon.net) using your MAL account name and message a DB Administrator for help. Please note this is the fastest method.

If you are unable to join IRC for some reason, a friend can post your username and email address on the account in this thread.


Confirmation Email Problems

The user with the confirmation email problem should join our IRC channel (#myanimelist@rizon.net) using your MAL account name and message a Forum Moderator for help; they can activate your account. However, be sure to change your email to an address that will receive MAL's emails (preferably gmail).

You may also create a new account with a gmail address and post the username of the unconfirmed account here. A DB Administrator will then remove the unconfirmed account to allow you to change your username.

The user's email address was in the first post. The account is removed now. She may remake her account, preferably with a gmail address.

(writing from friends account)

I cannot activate/confirm my accout. I'm copying link from your e-mail and paste it in browser, but your site just says "Invalid key provided or user has already been authorized." But when I click "Resend Auth Key" it says "The following errors occurred: - Could not find that username or user has already been authorized." But, of course, I cannot login, because "this account doesn't exist" or something. What to do?

I tried twice - 'petr' and 'realpetr'.

While you were trying to create your account yesterday, our site was experiencing incredible lag (on the order of a few hours). Your account was created and has been activitated (petr). All you need to do is sign in. (realpetr has been removed)

Problem:
Password from the first recovery mail didn't work. My friend sent it to me so I could check and he was right. He clicked again to receive another mail but he never received new one...

That was in reply to your case. I sent him an email via my gmail acct. He needs to check his junkmail. If that still doesn't work, then he's going to have to come on IRC or something. But I need to verify who he is using his email.

Problem:
Password from the first recovery mail didn't work. Password from second recovery email didn't work. Cleared cookies and tried again with second, still didn't work.

Hey I attempted to make two accounts before I realized that both of my email accounts weren't receiving the emails. So I made another account with a new email. So you can delete the acounts: fawkes512 & fawkes_512 thanks!

I was forced to make a second account after I encountered a password problem in my original MAL account. What pisses me off is that the account I had uses a Yahoo mail, yet when I send a request for password recovery, it says this:

The following errors occurred:
- Invalid e-mail


I don't know, if MAL banhammered Yahoo that many here are forced to use Gmail or something...

I am considering to close that old account if nothing happens as this account I am using is only temporary.

It's because you entered the wrong email. The email you entered (and have listed for me here) does not match what you have listed on your account. Hence: invalid e-mail. Try the email you signed up with...

Hello :) I'm writing from my friend's account.

I could no confirm my account. The e-mail you sent to me said I have to click on a link, but the link is not clickable. I tryed to copy and paste it on the browser, but it said "Invalid key provided or user has already been authorized." Then I clicked "Resend Auth Key", but it said the username could not be found.
I tryed to register again but there was the same problem.

The username was Nohay

I'm having the same problem as Hidari, except that I was able to log for a couple of minutes, add two titles and then the stupid system logged me out T_T It keeps telling me my username is non existent.

Username is NAAN and I registered with gmail.

Confirmation Email Problem:

Well I wanted to create a new account so I had a new name but the confirmation isn't working. (I didn't realize that there was an option to change my account name at the time. I still want to use the name though... so please help me.)

My friend seems to have the same problem...

No he is often been kicked out..

And if I want to visit his animelist, its sometime possible and sometime shows an error?!

Account problem.

My account has been hacked, so someone else changed my pass and I can't enter now. It would have been easy if my e-mail wasn't hacked at the same time. So I no longer have access to the e-mail address I was registered with. Is there any solution? (If not, can it be possible to make a screenshot of my anime list, since that hacker made it private, and then delete the account...?)

@YaminiZouren: Should be fine now, it was caused by the servers lagging.

@Paperfly: Sorry, I can't do anything for you. The current e-mail used with the account doesn't match the e-mail you provided and if I can't verify it's actually your account, my hands are tied. Use a more secure password for your accounts in the future?

You're giving me the wrong e-mail here, the e-mail associated with the account Aquilla is from hotmail, not yahoo. Look into that and then get back to me.

Not deleting your new account for obvious reasons...

I can't verify it's your account unless you have access to the e-mail associated with the account, sorry. So either you need to remember the password to the user 'Aquilla' or you need to figure out how to access that hotmail account.

I believe it's your account but I can't be 100% sure, so my hands are tied.

Problem: My friend forgot his pass so he requested a new one but when he requests one it says its invalid and makes him request a new one again and again and again.He is able to log in for a few seconds before it logs him out again and makes him request another pass. His cookies have been cleared out also.
