Pretty sure it’s cuz her dad abused her(probably sexually). But it was never shown. I think just implied by how Akira always recoiled from his touch.

@FierySkies i guess that could explain it? her mom started stuttering when she said that he was "too close with akira" or something, but i assumed that was just because she didn't want to cast aspersions on his parenting? man, i didn't catch that at all. guess i gotta add one more mark in the "mindless edge" tally i've been keeping for this manga
