| Madoka is the best one in my opinion. Take my opinion with a grain of salt though cause it is the only Magical Girl show that I have watched. Anyways it is still an amazing show none the less. |

| It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it, is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service. |

| Sailor Moon Utena Cardcaptor Sakura Princess TuTu Shugo Cara Pretear Magic Knight Rayearth Wedding Peach Tokyo Mew Mew All of these are big hits in that genre and Sailor Moon is the most popular of them all, where it is still considered a classic. Madoka would not exist without Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon is much more popular than Madoka in every way, and when it comes to the show that people like the most in that genre, it comes down to Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura and Utena. |

I don't actually see a reason why people are comparing Madoka to mahou shoujo classics since Madoka is supposed to be a subversion of the genre and all its tropes. |

Lmao I do agree I've seen all of Sailor Moon, Utena (My fav)favorite, read all of Cardcaptor Sakura, Wedding Peach, Shugo Chara, etc. Madoka is a subversion of the genre and isn't the actual genre as it wasn't made to be the typical show in that genre. That's why it's very dark and shows the magical girl life as something that isn't that good. It's not meant to be a typical mahou shoujo girl anime and never was supposed to be. |

| I think it's one of the greatest anime of of all times. The length, soundtrack, story, animation (of movies), is all on spot, and it doesn't take 100s of episodes to conclude. |

| Madoka Magica excels in subtle symbolism and characterization in only 12 Episodes including movies while other shows literally have drag on for hundreds of episodes I do enjoy Magical Girl series but Madoka Magica just feels different and teaches you many life lessons that Shallow Shounen cannot expound |

| It's a critically acclaimed show, and regarded as one of the best anime of last decade. So is the best show also the best Mahou Shoujo? I don't know, since I don't understand unions and intersections. But I know that it's hard to beat combination of Studio Shaft, Yuki Kajiura, and Gen Urobuchi, be it any genre. Before this I had watched Cardcaptor Sakura (one of my favourites), Sailor Moon (bit repetitive), Tokyo Mew Mew (Bootleg Sailor Moon). I tried watching Magic Knight Rayearth, bit didn't get too far. Madoka Magica strikes a perfect balance of being short and impactful, which a lot of shows can't do. I love Cardcaptor Sakura but man I can't binge watch it. I can rewatch Madoka Magica on weekend and find something completely new about it, because it has depth, which a lot of shows lack. So to sum it up, considering the re-watch factor, and the depth Madoka Magica has, it's not only thr best Mahou Shoujo, but the best anime ever made. |
