| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Damn, they sure didn't waste getting right into the action with this one. First few minutes of the show immediately presents aerial combat with the aircrafts (which I think is more advanced than regular fight aircrafts in today's world) Gripen is definitely someone to watch out for especially in the air. She has potential to be a really powerful fighter. That opeing song is also kinda catchy. Not a big fan of the MC yet though. The story also needs time for development. |

| The Gripen plane is absolutely tacky, I'd be embarrassed flying that plane. The others shown in the ED are also extremely tacky as well wtf was the artist thinking when it came to colors for one 95% pink is horrible on machines like this. Now Gripen the girl is quite pretty and I didn't expect her to kiss Kei on the first episode. I'll give it a chance seeing that the action and the girls are decent, but the sight of those tacky colored planes may not leave my mind. |

| Another season, another seemingly forgettable show by Satelight. It seems that Kawamori simply cannot get his studio to put out a really solid top to bottom series. I'll give it the 3 episode rule to see if this improves. |

| Is this action? Is this a hidden romance harem? Really have a lot of questions about this one. But what I do know is that it doesn't waste time getting into the meat. | This episode was really melodramatic it was almost pointless to watch but it had some good parts like the detail in the aircraft. That being said the the main character seems to be obsessed with the Japanese Airforce yet he doesn't even seem to know which aircraft they are flying. He also has lot's of images of aircraft but failed to realise the aircraft he was looking for was a Saab Gryphen, it,s not that well known aircraft but i am pretty sure that most people with an interest in jet fighters know about it it's pretty recognisable. Also the fight which this episode started with was vague as well judging from the aircraft that came in they where either Mig-21 or Chengdu-J7 and it looked like they had the markings of Pakistan on them. I don't believe China has markings like that and it's the only airforce near Japan that's still using the J-7 Russia retired their Mig-21 years ago which makes me wonder where the fight was and why the Japanese airforce which is a self defence force was there. For the record the fighters that the Japanese airforce uses are the F2 the F4 and the F15 they are also a part of the F35 project and have been trying the get the F22 but the US wants to keep that one to themselves. |

| This firmly falls under enjoyable trash. Animation was solid enough but the Jet designs look garish. I suspect it's a switch off your brain type show, which is fine. |

| This is the show I most anticipated for this season, and yet it is also the one I have the lowest expectations for. So far, it looks like a harem anime that has just ripped off Darling in the FranXX and Kantai Collection. The MC gives me cancer too. Well, as long as I get cute girls and a military theme, I'll probably enjoy it anyway. |

There is no Japanese Air Force after 1945. There is only the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, founded in 1954 . Juridically that's an enormous difference. Actually the Gripen (Griffin in English) is a very well known and respected fighter aircraft among japanese military nerds. Gripen models was in almost every model store in Akihabara, whens I was there a couple of years ago, and it shows up in some web mangas and other media as well. The subtitles called the plane JAS 39 Gripen, bus "JAS" is a designation only used within the Swedish Air Force. It's an Swedish abbreviation for Jakt (fighter), Attack (air-to-ground attack) and Spaning (reconnaissance). In NATO or JASDF it logically would had been abbreviated as FAR, a different number, and logically also "Griffin". |

| Wow these Xi's sure are powerful and fast as well. Being able to not just evade surface fire from DD's and fighter jets but take them out effortlessly as well. The daughters intro and the effort that they have on the field was shown well in their first foray. Revenge though is a pretty good source of motivation for Kei. While she can be bossy Minghua's attitude can also be seen to be a result of her reliance on Kei in this foreign land. The Xi sure have some interesting abilities though. Seems Kei's first encounter with Gripen ended up creating quite the bond with her. Decent first ep that did well in setting the world and introducing the threat posed by the Xi and the attempt by Japan to counter them. Curious to see where this goes. |

| imho, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I like the military theme and the design of the anima so far, so Ill keep an open mind and see where this goes. | This was all kinds of awful. The animation was off in many places, the voice acting was cringeworthy, and the writing was atrocious. I'll give it three episodes since fighter jets are fucking awesome and one of mankinds greatest mechanical marvels behind cruise ships. |

| The first episode isn't bad at all. It provides a bit of background between the main male character, childhood friend, and gripen. They didn't waste time getting right into action knowing how powerful the enemy are and how powerless normal jets too. And a surprising kiss between the two. Minhua, looked like a older Nagisa from StB. She's cute and understand how she feels if the MC joins the JSDF. MC is normal kid. but seems to have some knowledge about aircraft at least have interest. The animation quality is good. Seems like our pink princess take a good liking to the MC on the early episodes. Quite amusing the fat guy is trying to mess with her pretending to threaten him. So his wish to join the JSDF came true quick. Seems like a harem seeing there are three cute....jets. who the MC needs to take care of. Plus his childhood friend. |
| is this a commercial anime for the recruitment of self defense force towards foreigners who are interested in Japanese immigration. As the anime has shown, if you join the force you will get surrounded by cute girls. |
| That is one persistent missile. Satelight and China sure like to get along... "I knew you could move, you lazy ass." Lol, he did that just to get the jet to move? Alright. We got some action, some backstory, details on the Xi and why standard fighters can't fight them, and the daughters that are designed to combat the Xi but are still under testing. I guess this is where Narutani starts building up those social links so that they can fly better. Gimme the jets! |

Cliche. the protagonist seems to like aircraft but simply did not recognize the Saab Gripen ... And I do not understand why the PLA sent fighter aircraft J-7(Mig21) to face the enemies and I do not understand why J-7 fired missiles similar to the IRIS- T(maybe it can be a PL10 SR) then the normal IRIS-T is not able to withstand the ECM of the ZAI. Then the pink Gripen arrives he shoots the same missile only this time the missile is pink... as Zeno would say "woooow sugoi ne" lol although I do not believe that the Zai can maneuver to more than 40Gs, the enemy aircraft has ECM advanced to fool a IRIS-T (similar) so, would not it be better if the JSDF updated the missiles? Example The missile AIM 120D has a no escape zone (NEZ) of approximately 45km. Moreover the AIM-120D is capable of supporting lateral acceleration of up to 40Gs. But why am I saying all this? Because the anime theoretically follows the real world , the fighters are variations of their real analogues. What I can not understand is the reason why even the aircraft canopy is pink. The protagonist's friend is boring and acts as if it were the mother of the protagonist, she is controlling and annoying. this looks more like an harem anime cliche. I'll keep watching because I like military aircraft. the IRIS-T is able to achieve lateral acceleration of up to approximately 60Gs  |

| With a title like "Girly Air Force" and all promotional material shows girls and colorful jets, you'd expect this to be a parody show that doesn't take itself seriously. This is not how I expected it to be. ---- Also, glad to know Japan is still making progress with gender equality. |
