But what's also disgusting is people who haven't played a real Pokemon game in over 10 years pick up this sub-par shitheap and suddenly think they know everything and anything about Pokemon, claiming they've been fans for years. I think the game in it's current state is lackluster. There's no depth to the game that made the original Pokemon games fun. It's boring and there's no extra drive to the game. The only thing the game excels at is the unlimited potential behind it. It's a great example of taking today's technology and creating what could be a revolutionary next-gen game. It's concept is refreshing to say the least but I will not be playing it myself unless some major updates happen that'll bring it closer to the original Pokemon games. An example of the depth I mentioned is the skills system. In a traditional Pokemon battle, your Pokemon have 4 skills at their arsenal whether it's debuffs, buffs, or just straight up attack moves. The battle system in Go is pretty rudimentary, but that's okay I guess since it's a mobile game, I still feel like they could have stuck with the traditional system and that would have gave me some motivation to play the game. When Pokemon reach a certain level they have the chance to learn a new skill. Usually you have to give up one of the 4 current skills in exchange for this new skill or you can just forgo learning the new skill. This feature presents to the player 2 choices: do I catch a low level Pokemon and spend time to raise it up to learn this specific skill or do you catch the same Pokemon at a higher level and try to obtain one of those skill trainers to manually teach your Pokemon that skill? Keeping in mind, I don't believe you can obtain a trainer for all skills so in some scenarios you'll have to make the choice of capturing a lower level Mon. It makes each Pokemon unique since two level 50 Squirtles may not have the same stats or moves. |

It's overrated and I didn't get the hype the game receives. The game is going outdoor and catching some virtual creatures using handphones and nothing more. And also don't forget all of the nonsense incidents the people that play the game involved that we can read from newspaper from 1-3 days ago. |

I mean, I don't play Pokemon very much anymore, but it must be terrible for those guys who grew up into high-school getting bullied because of their interests, to suddenly have their hobby liked by many, some of whom would suddenly show an interest in them because of such a hobby. The culture around it is so fake and empty, it's a bit disheartening. |

I don't like it all that much, personally. You see, we sadly live in a time where walking around with your phone out, isn't the brightest idea. Then we have kids going around by themselves, which could lead to a situation that could be avoided if they don't play the game at all. Apparently there's also the case where robbers can, for example, find other users of pokemon go, to, well, you know.. rob them? That said, if we didn't take any of this into consideration, sure, it'd be a great game. |

It's a cool concept, I'll give it that... but I've only played it sporadically. I personally don't like the idea of walking around at night running into people I don't know and being vulnerable to robbers and stuff like that... because everyone knows that robbers love people who are distracted and have a valuable iPhone in their hands. Don't even get me started on the people who do this while driving... Even if you're just going down side streets, you are still a danger to yourself as well as others. |

It's really fun to play, and hilarious how people get salty about the game. The game tells you not to be a fucking idiot, so don't be an idiot man. The reports on this game is top kek, people suing the company because they got into an accident while playing the game (on a highway). More on the actual game, it's buggy as hell and half of the time I spend playing it gives me server issues, not complaining because it is Pokemon and that's to be expected. You can't add friends, battle people unless you're at a gym. There's no other alternative to earning coins other than actually buying them. I downloaded it and got to the beginning training part where you choose between squirtle, charmander, etc and it says 'catch a pokemon' BUT IT DIDN'T WORK. I couldn't figure out how to use it and I kept pressing on them and trying to catch them but nothing happened I couldn't even get to the part where you throw a pokeball at them so I deleted the app and got it again like three times but.. Nothing. It was very disapointing and I still don't know what I did wrong?? Other than that though Pokemon has been trying to get people to go outside for years and they finally sort of did it so.. Good for them. |

Honestly it's really disappointing as a pokemon game but I can understand why people find it so fun. Something tells me this is just going to be a trend (maybe prolonged when trading and battling is implemented, or even addition of other gen. pokemon) but I really hope I'm wrong. I can definitely see people getting bored of it within the next month. I like how people are willing to sacrifice common sense to catch a shitty rattata or a pidgey though |

Anyone have any luck getting it to work on a tablet? I tried with my Samsung Galaxy 10.1 and couldn't get it to work, even after rooting it, installing KitKat, and setting my dpi higher. I think my tablet is too old. My phone is a prepaid and I never really cared about smartphones until recently when I started to see how limited prepaid dumbphones have become over the past 5 or 6 years of me owning one. I'm actually not a Pokemon fan at all, but figure I'd try it to see if I'd like it. Maybe if I get a newer device sometime in the future. |

Right at the beginning of the game when you are given the usual Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle choice, pick none of them. As in, physically run away from them. The game will jump them over to try and follow you, but by the fourth time you do this, it gets the message you don’t want any of them, and surprise! There’s Pikachu, joining the party. Now, as anyone knows who has played, your “starter” is ultimately not terribly important (in two days I have all three original starters from eggs/wild captures), but this is a fun little trick you can tell your friends about regardless. |
