| someone is going to die anyway, it's not the fault of the choice, since not everyone can be saved (maybe, unless erwin manages to stabilize) both have people who care about them, so that doesn't make a difference what is left is the strategical value both are strategists, which are very important to carry out a mission, erwin has more experience, armin is younger and with still time to grow more on the short term, erwin is the better choice on the long run, armin is the best choice i would go with armin on a long run view, even if they take back the walls, taking on the titans may take decades and also in the thin chance erwin can somehow be cured, but that's unlikely |

| the problem for the characters to decide is: -levi didn't see/know about armin sacrificing to take down the colossal titan -eren didn't see/know about erwin sacrificing to take down the ape titan -mikasa doesn't know either but is more close to armin so none of them has a full picture to make a clear decision, it will all boil down to who cries more about their friend |

| It pains me to say this but I do think Erwin is a more strategic choice. He will know what to do with the information he got after eating Bert. He has the power, the experience and the means. Poor Armin. Poor, dead Armin. Brave, dead Armin. (In the corner of my heart somehow I think he's the one going to survive though) |
| Having a brilliant Commander like Erwin with awesome Titan powers would be too much of an advantage for the heroes. Imagine a Colossal Erwin with Levi and Mikasa riding shotgun on each shoulders - there'd be no need for anyone else! And besides Isayama sure likes to have our heroes struggle. So. Erwin orders Levi to use the serum on Armin. Erwin endures his injuries long enough to see the inside of the basement where he will die from disappointment. Hanje possibly becomes the next Commander. And a butthurt Levi probably quits the Survey Corp. |
