| another great episode from flying witch. i like this episode most of the reasons is because of the whale/the fantasy elements in this episode and more characterization for Anzu. i really like her characterization in this episode especially at the scene where it was showing/proofing that her passion towards history wasn't just a mere words. it's real. it's very funny to know that Kenny actually studies history from the very beginning and even he is Anzu's teacher xD that was actually looks fun to do xD The second one is the whale. i seriously like how they made the fantasy element in this show. it's very entertaining, amusing and enjoyable to see/watch. that whale is for example. i mean, it was literally a whale. lol, i thought it was maybe some kind of ship but it was just literally a whale and that suprised me a little bit xD really like to see a whale and to know that actually there were people living on top of the whale long time ago and there are still people living on top of the whale somewhere. this kind of fantasy, i really like it. i hope there is something like this again in the final episode xD Pancakes......makes me hungry xD on the other side and for the final one, that owl. lol it was so cool in my view for having an owl as your familiar xD really like that one too. although, she needs to pay that tabs quickly i think.....xD |

| That was a majestic flying whale! That was a very fine detailed 60 fps baking scene of the hotcake/pancake! I doubt its taken/recorded IRL or CG effects... 4/5. |

| I didn't notice it the last time Anzu showed up, but gosh, her voice actor is so miscast it hurts. They went all out on sweetness, it doesn't fit her at all. |
| Now that's what I am talking about. I've really enjoyed Flying Witch for what it is, but this episode right here is kind of what I wish the whole anime had been more like. It wasn't even more exciting or action packed then normal, it just had a cool magic related idea and we got to see our witches flying around and learning about world building magical stuff. I'd like to reiterate I'm satisfied with Home & Garden with Occasional Magic Stuff the anime but this was more what I wanted going into the series. The whale was just such a cool idea. I'm a big fan of sky and space whales and even though this episode didn't delve into that much exposition of why or how they exist it had some cool little clues snuck in everywhere. Like the hieroglyphics inside the ruins, and how Anzu tells us humans used to live on their back. As we've come to expect from Flying Witch, the whale was a visually splendid excursion and they did an impressive amount with it's premise in just half an episode. On a final note, we spend a lot of time with Anzu this episode who hasn't shown up since her first appearance at the cafe. She didn't leave that much of an impression in the first episode but she became one of my favorite characters here. I love history nerds and it's rare to come across an anime girl who is one. Her matter of fact lectures throughout the episode were just fun to watch and you can imagine her being a knowledgeable person you'd like having a conversation with. And her lecture on hot/pancakes was really interesting, and one I'll probably pass on an abbreviate to at least one of my friends in the near future. What an enjoyable show, I can't believe there's only one episode left. Akane better pay her bill. |

I was thinking we were gonna get some sick ass plot thing for the last episode, but nope. Just a big ass tab. LOL Though I guess that festival Makoto saw in the newspaper looks fun. |

| -in the first 30 seconds: why does it feel like the animation is ridiculously smoother than it's been in the previous episodes -masutaa shimashita 👌 -that whale's some shadow of the colossus type shit -awwh the whale's tail waved at them when they lifted off -"my family is full of loonies" kei's dad -meanwhile chito just sits around all day -those pancakes look pretty scrumptious -sweet mercy they look even more tasty after they're done being cooked -oh yes melt that butter daddy -d r i z z l e m e i n s y r u p a n d c a l l m e h o t t o k e k i -but for real those hotcakes look super fuckin delicious -anzu is cute -everyone is cute -the animals always look so amazing in this show -mama shiina has no chill billing akane in her own house Flying Witch meets Shadow of the Colossus and Kofuku Graffiti: the episode. Basically the entire episode was just a history dump that touched upon the magical world (with the whale) and the normie world (with the hottokekis). As always, the show manages to be comfy and atmospheric as it possibly can. I liked the hotcakes scene a lot better than the whale scene solely because those hotcakes looked fucking amazing. |

| Really rich in charm and mystery the first part of the episode, fun and carefree the second. An opportunity is the final stretch of narrative, which makes us better acquainted with Anzu's character. Designs and backgrounds are always well done. <3 |

| Good stuff with whale watching. I like how it even a nice environment on top. If those things were real I would pay to go ride one. The 2nd half was very fun, I love pancakes or hotcakes, whatever you want to call them. Both are yummy but I prefer hotcakes more, they are just more fluffier or at least the ones I have eaten. I was expecting Kei's hotcakes to burn as they showed that thing rise and he was caught up in the whole explanation by Shiina. Overall great episode. :) |

| Excellent in terms of the Slice of Life and in terms of the fantastic, without exceeding in clamor as it usually does in souls of the genre. Fun, relaxing and informative, as it gives a lesson on what Pancakes and Hotcakes are. I also got hungry, slurp! Me and Anzu, we share a passion for vintage and antique things. |

| One seemigly ordinary morning, they're learned that a 'whale,' which is more like a flying fortress that's shaped like one, will be flying nearby. So they quickly dressed up and went there. There they also met Anzu-san from the hidden café. Good thing part 2 is connected as Anzu is included in the breakfast. Anzu gave history lessons on the whale civilisation as well as the technical difference between a pancake and a hotcake. It turns out that Akane's familiar Chito-san is Anzu's mentor. Chito-san is very knowledgeable with anthropology. The punch line is that Akane-san has about 50,000 yen she needs to pay at the café. |
