Hello everyone,

as the title suggests, I am looking for a new anime. I've just finished Bakemonogatari and was rather disappointed, actually. It didn't meet my expectations at all. Anyways, I've also recently finished The world god only knows and Nisekoi. They were both good but still not what I was looking for. I love animes with a proper romance. It can be harem, I guess but I prefer it not to be. Also, it should have a significant focus on romance. Ideally the romance has a portion of drama to it. Upcoming problems like injuries or whatevs. It can revolve around any topic really, it just needs a romance. And please, no annoying characters like someone that feels the need to help EVERYONE around him.

Now, this is very specific, and it is not a requirement but I'd still prefer it to be this way: The female being in a strong position while the male is not OR the male being kind of hard to reach for the female or vice versa IDK I just want good romane anime pls :(

I don't really watch romance too much, but I can recommend Toradora. Its a high school rom com that i found very entertaining. It has no action though.

If you want a serious romance with decent comedy splashed in, I highly recommend Golden Time.

Clannad + Clannad After Story (might be my favorite anime ever)

Your Lie in April (Another one of my favorites)

Kanon 2006 (MAKE SURE IT IS THE 2006 VERSION)

For what it's worth IDK why people keep recommending others Bakemonogatari as a "romance anime" I love that series as well but I certainly wouldn't correlate it strictly to the romance genre. I think I know what you're looking for and any of these might do the trick :)

Sorry for the late reply, but anyways:

I know what you mean. I've started Bakemonogatari with high hopes, but was then let down because I was expecting something really different. But it wasn't bad, just wasn't what I was looking for at the time. I will certainly look into your suggestions.

Thanks to all of you for taking the time to suggest these.

better late than never! Let us know if you like the shows I suggested. Also I highly recommend Bakemonogatari just not for the romance. Great series if you stick with it but certainly something you have to be in the mood for

Golden Time: Had some drama in it and the romance that develops is pretty good too.

Or possibly Maid-Sama. Don't know if this is what you are looking for but main female character is student council prez and lays down the law, main male is goofy. They get together at the end, female doesn't realize her feelings to end but romance is implied throughout the anime. It was a very funny and enjoyable anime, not a lot of serious moments.

I've seen Your lie in April. It was amazing to watch, really. And I will give feedback to you once I've watched one of the shows you've suggested. Currently on Lovely Complex which I enjoy as well.

For Shadow:

Seen both of them, liked both of them. Thanks anyways!
