And/Or do you believe in them as correct?

I can imagine gender roles are different across the world, but I am also fairly certain many things remain unchanged.

One such example is men being tough- not crying(men crying can be seen as weak and 'girly'

Women(well, let's not get into that. There's many examples here)

Also, btw, this isn't me trying to start a gender wars thread, though if that's what it turns into I sincerely apologize

I just want to know if you guys/girls out there follow gender roles.

For those of you who don't know what gender roles are(like simply human)

A gender role is a set of societal norms dictating what types of behaviors are generally considered acceptable, appropriate or desirable for a person based on their actual or perceived sex.

I think some are somewhat accurate (guys like video games more, girls like fashion etc.) but I don't mind that people like something their gender usually doesn't like. I think it's actually empowering that some people aren't afraid to show off what they enjoy/like and break gender stereotypes.

They definitely don't constitute the foreground for me. But, admittedly, I subconsciously adhere to them - due to my upbringing, surroundings and all. As long as I don't see any disadvantage in them, I'll expend no conscious effort in not adhering to them.

I just do what I like but gender roles probably have at least some influence on me. Its not really about abiding, its just being used to certain things and having comfort zones.

I'm not even sure what a gender role for guy or girl is these days.

gender role thread*

& this one, in case you didn't notice, was not posted by a troll looking to bait females into a panic, but rather to incite discussion. & my reason for this thread wasn't even because of the gender threads posted by the moron that is simply human, but by snugglywuggly(god I feel gay for writing that)

I really don't pay much mind to them. I might be considered a feminine male for a few reasons, but I don't care.
Whether or not your behavior matches your gender is not as important as having compassionate, good behavior. Of course this is just my opinion.

Anybody who thinks they aren't influenced by gender roles is either unaware or delusional.

I'm not the most masculine guy, but yes I have displayed some behaviors because I felt that as a male it's what is expected of me.

I despise gender roles, and think of them like chains on the legs of a slave, bolted to the floor. They function to hold everybody down and collectively make the lives of every individual human being on earth worse. Gender roles should be destroyed (but don't ask me how, I'm not sure its even possible).

there are more bad than good gender roles imo. they lead to sexual repression and deter freedoms.

as a male, i've never really felt the need to deivate from my gender though, for the most part at least. still a loserfag by many ppl's standards but i like to watch football drink beer and burp as loud as i can just like many other guys out there. i just do what feels natural and comfortable to me.

Me as well, though it's sort of like, do we feel comfortable because that's our role? Burping probably not, but other things

Well, I am influented by gender roles, but deep down I don't care so much about them and I don't force them on others. As a kid I did never really understand why it was so important to be in a certain way just because you were a boy or a girl.

I bought a skirt online a few days ago. I don't plan to wear it in public, though. Because I work in the evening I end up having to do chores around the house when my family is out of the house. I don't know if that's considered feminine.

I think they're obsolete bullcrap.

I don't really abide by them. I do some stereotypical male stuff but nothing serious. Maybe that explains why I'm not good with girls.

Post pics of you in your skirt doing chores

I kinda wish I had legs that would look good in a skirt. Although skirts seem like theyd be a hassle in a lot of instances except for really hot days where it has a benefit of a better breeze.

that's pretty stereotypical lol

but it's not wrong obviously. It's ingrained in us as a child.

Hell, parents think their kid(boy) is gay if he plays with something other than an action figure.

have been very gender targeted, despite it being 2015.

OT: I don't pay much attention to them. Usually the things that I like to do already fall into those gender roles.

I don't like football though and prefer track and field. I also find the gym obsession thing to be pointless.
