| The writing in the show makes it seem like a trans wish fulfilment thing. In fact if you ignore the alien plot device its just about a person who transitions and is much happier because of it. There is literally a character that can't see men, but she was always able to see Hazumu, because she was always a girl.. and then there's the scene with a trans flag in the background. |

Her sex was changed by the plot device, not her gender. If a cisgender person was turned into another sex then they'd find it very distressing because their gender does not change with their sex. Hazumu on the other hand was much happier with her body and presentation after having her sex changed. Which implies that her gender was/is female. |
