THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Well, this episode felt hard to take seriously at times with some of the fan service. Although in terms of mechanics and content, it does focus well with the Aquarion mecha.

Some weird moments with Maia though and I kinda felt bad her...
Her connection with certain people isn't exactly pleasant.

Who could that figure behind Maia be? I couldn't see any definite resemblance between the characters we know from the two worlds of Season 1 and Season 2...

*excited* What happened 12,000 years ago!? Will it be a reference to Sousei, EVOL, or another time/world!? Personally, I'd like it to be another set of characters. I'm a little sick of Celiane & company. Remember, DEAVA of both Sousei and EVOL were fighting the whole time. The shadow angels/other world were not taking 12,000 year breaks... [Sousei]The only shadow angel that took a nap to our knowledge was Touma to wait for Apollonius to reincarnate. [EVOL]Donar(teacher) was fighting 8 years before Amata(rough time estimate 24,000) and Amata's mother was kidnapped when he was a small child.

I expect people to argue based on the screens showing EVOL that this is roughly time 36,000, but it doesn't have to be. Take No Game No Life for example, the Eastern Federation created a virtual world similar to Earth. It wouldn't be impossible for Logos to create an anime that looked exactly like EVOL and air it on TV.

An odd piece of information from the MJBK/past Maia (don't know which) was that they said Akira was from outside the world or something to that effect. I wonder what that means since he clearly or appears to have parents from the world.

On to my dissatisfaction with this episode... The moment the shadow self mentioned 12,000 years ago, I was hoping to get something to do with the story but nothing. One could argue that in Sougon and Maia's past lives, they were lovers but that doesn't really tell me what happened 12,000 years ago...

That yellow figure that kinda looks like Maia might be the true antagonist. That is what I think.
