I suppose I don't really know much about sikhism and turbans, but it sounds like a big deal so good for him.
I don't really get this whole signature thing, but I feel like I need something down here to participate in the trends.

Thanks earnshaw30!
I don't really know much about this article but it indeed seems like a great gesture, for him to do that. Thumbs up.

In that case it's not against his religion to take it off since he was saving a life. He's a hero.

It's not something he can be punished for. Wearing the turban isn't a 'righteous thing', just something to help you on the 'righteous path'. It binds the bones of the skull to provide (apparently) mental clarity and also shows the world that you are a Sikh. Surely, saving a kid is a righteous thing.
Sikhs haven't always worn turbans, and even though they're supposed to now, I know a few here who don't do it at all. It's a personal thing.
When I was a kid, a Sikh took his turban off when he was teaching us about his religion and the symbols associated with it.

I don't see why this is seen as such a good news? And why is this even in the news?

A lot of people help, nothing so special about this guy. He's also just helping.

If I am not wrong it resembles their pride and honor in their warrior skills.

They're small, looking more like daggers than swords, but they're not meant for stabbing things. They're carried today as a symbol of God's power and mercy being with them.

Like the turban, Sikhs didn't always have to carry them. There was a time when the Muslims wanted to impose sharia law and kill anyone who wouldn't convert, and that's when both of these things (and others) became important to Sikhs, because they had to maintain a strong identity in order to resist.

I realize that, but... when has our secular society become so attached to people's religious feelings that something like this is newsworthy?

It actually makes Sikh's look bad if this guy's supposed to be exceptional.

Just clarifying, since I'm pretty damn sure many would take this the wrong way; That is not part of the Sharia, since a person cannot be forced into conversion to Islam. It violates the very first "commandment" (I suppose) of Islam; "To believe and accept that Allah is the one true God from the bottom of your heart,". On top of that, absolutely nothing is accepted if it is not done through the person's own will. I'm not saying that Muslims didn't try to do that bullshit, I'm just giving some clarification on why that's bullshit.
