Pros:
- Maintains a mature, serious mood throughout
- Subtle direction: we are expected to interpret the characters through their dialogue and their expressions rather than through any monologue or narration
- Tackles a difficult situation where the main character gets himself caught in a relationship even though he loves someone else, and realistically portraying the dilemma of feeling v.s. responsibility
- Flawed, but believable and multifaceted characters (referring to the main trio)
- Excellent use of background music and insert songs
*The only competent visual novel adaptation I know of* (lol)

Cons (more like areas of caution and dispute):
- Characters can come off as frustrating if one watches the story strictly from a third-party view rather than trying to understand each characters' sentiments
- Love triangle: 'nough said
- A downer ending may not be suitable for all
- Subtle direction comes at a price: not everyone picks up the intended characterizations
- The story doesn't end here: it's only an introduction to the visual novel

This is a highly contentious and polarizing work where the 'user experience' is exceptionally fragile, because the moment you start to apply your own wonderful moral beliefs and dislike the characters for what they're doing from a rational point of view, White Album 2 is dead to you. Love isn't rational! (Albeit the characters try really, really hard to be 'rational' from their point of view.) Try to keep an open mind, and try to understand the characters, and suddenly, wow! The work is a very impressive one indeed.

Chances are White Album 2 will not even come close to passing the club's vote, but alas, I've tried.

P.S. For a proper review, check out ZeroReq011's MAL review (first one) of White Album 2. Luckily, he can write a lot more eloquently than my chicken scratch.

It talks about a love triangle between the members of the Light Music Club (a band, so). First they meet, form the group and then there's love in the air. The good about this story is that, even though it's set in high school, it has a strong realism. The detail given to the relationships between the characters is very human and the honesty of their acts and feelings ends up giving the anime a tone a bit different than usua. The characters are, thus, as me and you: the story supports on them and the result is very well achieved.

Another strong point is the music. It's a very musical anime, much more than the first White Album. There are some themes that wink at the original and that are recurrent, but not tiresome. Then. there's a very pretty instrumental OST, that reminds me old time shoujo. With a pianist character, a lot of times we listen to pieces, original and classical, that always seemed appropriate to the situation and well interpreted.

However, the anime sins for its animation. It's not badly done, it's just not enough. The story does not potentiate great moments of action in which they can demonstrate animation techniques, but even like that it could be better. Thus the average grade [I gave it a 6]

A good anime. If I have to recommend an anime from this past season, it would be this.

Still not good enough for our list. It's a no.

Is this a sequel to that Beatles album?
In any case, I haven't seen it, just wanted to make a joke. :P
