| When taken out of the skull human brain isn't all that charming either. In fact it is about just as gross and slimy as that thing, just without extra eyes, and humans somehow are able to keep on living with such thing (and many others equally disgusting) inside of them without being very bothered by it. And the rest is as Murakami said, nothing else changed. They are still the same people he met and gotten to know over those few months, the have the same feelings, the same dreams, the same hearts, everything they did and said was their own accomplishment that defines who they are. On the other hand the knowledge that he literally squashed two of them (one a friend) under his boot like they were bugs can be hard to cope with... Especially if he realizes that he unintentionally and unknowingly treated those two witches just the same way that asshole from earlier was saying he treats them. |

| "I no longer have the right to love someone..." Kazumi. That existential anxiety is all too familiar to me. A certain favorite character of mine in a different franchise had it too! Ryouta had it right though, it doesn't matter where the soul is placed... what matters is that they have one! One can also look at it another way: the drasil is just an extra organ special to magic users. No big deal except for that "hatching" theory. These girls have humanity despite having bodies no longer that of a normal human unlike that other guy. A normal human with no humanity. Such contrast. |
