So, just browsing random anime related videos, discussions, etc. Just wasting time until Crunchy Roll releases the new Hunter x Hunter episode and I found this interesting info concerning Kill la Kill. Credit goes to someone on reddit, I didn't catch this or discover this myself. Its like an easter egg from an early episode that could possibly foreshadow a MAJOR event, so don't check it out if you don't want to risk it. This is from episode 7... http://i.imgur.com/CvivjVK.jpg The reflection of the calculator in her sunglasses, when flipped vertically, reveals this message... http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd324/K1ngYosh1/MakosDeath_zpseae410ca.jpg "21 I DIE" If that is true its going to be a sad moment for sure. I really like her and as "serious" and epic as this series has gotten, its going to devastate Ryuuko, making it a super feels moment. |

I guess we'll find out in 2 episodes if it's true or not. It would devestate me too, but I'm sure it would make for an extremely memorable episode. Inb4 TTGL Episode 8 comparisons. |

Well, Mako is just as dynamic of a character as Kamina and originally, people were scared Mako was gonna die much earlier on with an episode titled "I'll Wipe My Own Tears". Fortunately, that wasn't the case. Anyway, if this is true, then job well done, TRIGGER. For a show so grounded in over-the-topness, it sure has some subtle foreshadowing. Just noticed the reason they couldn't show the 2nd OP until episode 16 was because Junketsu's eyes are depicted very alien-like. Also, Ryuko was introduced in the first episode with what would later be known as Ragyo's theme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAmch6M0v8U http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0fdLdgpd8E |

Episode 20 Holy shit this anime is something really special, imo. My enjoyment of this anime has increased exponentially with each episode in this second half. I didn't think the turns and plot developments could keep going at such a level, but I was wrong. Now we have a battle with Satsuki and a berserk Ryuuko on the horizon. With swapped uniforms mind you. Greatness!! |

Episode 20 Damn, the endof the episode was pretty epic and I'm definitely agreeing that the second half has been a very pleasant surprise so far. Funny thing is that seems to go for most leftover Fall shows. Mainly KlK, NnA and Samumenco have improved a lot in 2014. Also awesome screenshot collection as always brian :) |

Ep 20 Well... so much for not losing your way @ Sandileina- No wonder my friend was making a huge deal about her last name being Mankanshoku... I always had an idea that it was somewhat inappropriate, but not to that extent >_> Yeah don't know what to think about the uniform swapping/mind control. To be honest I feel pretty okay with Satsuki being the main character. She has a really similar personality to Ryuko and aside from the whole ojou-san stereotype shes got going on. |

Episode 20: YEAH OK THE END OF THAT WAS PRETTY FUCKING BADASS *v* @battosai: Oh, no, actually, Mankanshoku is just a ridiculous name meaning a way over-the-top decorated ship. You typo'd in your episode 19 comment, putting 'Manko' instead of 'Mako', that's all ^^ (I'm secretly convinced that there's a pun to her name but neither me nor my mother can work it out so maybe not... *suspicious eyes*) |

Episode 21 Clearly a touching family reunion. And the chin bone's connected to the…WAT. Sakura Trick is no longer the best currently airing yuri anime. This deals with the contradiction of pleasure, but I'll elaborate on that later. 4th wall, where for art thou? IT'S ALWAYS MAKO TIME! Sisterly love, how cute. I see a parallel with this and that their father broke the Rending Scissors in half. But they will be reunited soon enough, I hope. Looks even more Wolverine than before. We Sonic the Hedgehog now? That's my Imaishi. Gurrrrrrrl, you got on assless chaps. Pot calling the kettle black lol. Showing skin is bad, m'kay. Method. To. The. Madness. I was wondering why Ragyo would need to override Junketsu, if she wants to submit herself to the clothing. So, it makes sense that synchronization/overriding is from the perspective of the clothing, rather than the person. Unlike Ryuko and Satsuki, Ragyo allows herself to be completely covered in clothing. Despite clothing being parasitic aliens, anything can be good in moderation, which is why it was perfectly fine for Ryuko and Satsuki to portray themselves in a way that only meets the Kamui halfway. This means they are still in control of their appearance and not merely under control. So, does this justify the fanservice? Yes and no. While there is a method to the madness, there's still a good number of pandering camera angles throughout and the fact that I might it more amusing than the usual fanservice doesn't change that. TRIGGER is mainly just having a lot of fun out here in the spirit of Go Nagai, but this is a way of letting them have their cake and eat it too. In other words, this will do little to nothing to change the minds of the people who were uncomfortable with the fanservice in the first place. On the other hand, the Ragyo stuff is supposed to make you feel uncomfortable with the juxtaposition of pleasure and borderline rape. Ragyo is equating being a slave to someone else with "enjoy it to the fullest", which is later repeated by Ryuko during her fight with Satsuki "The pleasure of being worn by Junketsu is out of the world!" Despite the ominous music playing, Ragyo's henchmen respond to becoming slaves of clothing, not with fear, but with "This is most pleasant" and "How wonderful!" Giving into your pleasures is glorifying the submissive behavior of fascism, not unlike how the Mankanshoku family was corrupted by greed in Episode 7. This also puts Satsuki's approval of Mako at the end of the episode in a new perspective, being that she's all about resisting her mother's pleasurable ways. "Humans aren't as weak as you say they are! People can suppress their desires through sheer willpower!" I remember there was originally a theory about this being about female empowerment, which I don't think holds much weight at this point and our leading ladies just happen to be girls. They say the clothes you wear define who you are. Kill la Kill is about choosing your own appearance, instead of letting others choose it for you and this ties into how this show got off the ground in the first place: the fashion fascism pun. FRAME WARS! Enough of that though, back to the fight! CALLBACK TIME! Ep 3: http://i.imgur.com/KQq0ZxD.jpg Ep 21: http://i.imgur.com/mNWfqNh.jpg Keep calm and lay the smackdown. Then wouldn't it be a steelcastle? Mere missiles are no match for Rule of Cool! Dat irony tho. A show so troperiffic would have to love red buttons. Damn it, Gamagori, you are one surprising fellow. High five! Should I expect anything less from Tactical Mastermind Satsuki? Nui's evasive maneuvers never cease to impress. MUDA MUDA MUDA again. Man, I can't wait for Stardust Crusaders. Preach, Mako, preach! AN UNLIMITED SUPPLY OF MAKO!? Btw, this gif is a neat optical illusion. Depending on whether you shift your eye from left-to-right or right-to-left, you get a different perspective on what's happening. Mako to the rescue! Sounds like a title for a B-movie I would most definitely watch. "Let us go to where it all begins." You think you're punny, don't you, Ragyo? Not exactly a drill, but it is pointy. Get ripped! Close, but no cigar. Mako's obviously been studying at the Mikisugi School of (Un)Exposition. Abaranger/Dino Thunder reference. Ultraman reference. Jamila. OMG Mako, your Junketsu Ryuko is too good, STAHP. How Dandy. Man, these visual gags are just priceless. This show really knows how to make the most of its budget. Mad Nui? There's something you don't see everyday. Love how they're still playing with her 2-dimensionality. So, Mako finally wears Senketsu. In retrospect…foreshadowing? The Mankanshoku family is ready for combat! And apparently, Dad has a TB vaccine scar for some reason. OMG she has a bunny for tonsils. This shit must run in the family, huh? CALLBACK TIME! (AGAIN) Ep 1: "Alright, I'll make you wear me by force!" Ep 21: "I'm going to force myself onto you!" Ryuko spilled her blood on Senketsu and now, Senketsu spills his blood on Ryuko. Pretty happy nothing came out of that Mako Must Die prophecy and pleased to see this wasn't merely a rehash of Episode 12's conclusion. Mako did ultimately snap her out of it again, but there was more of a team effort with Satsuki and Senketsu involved and the gravity of the situation was a little heavier. Now, Mako's gotten inside of Ryuko's head. In retrospect…foreshadowing? HEADSHOT! After Ryuko's introspective trip in the mind about her identity issues, the scene ends in a downpour of bloody rain which is similar to Shinji's situation in episode 16 of Evangelion. There's somewhat of a link in gaining false happiness by conforming to how others want to perceive you, but that might be stretching it. Although, "It doesn't matter what others think!" and this one is just too convenient, but still lol: "You can't live by spinning only a thread of happiness". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvaVJF2qmtg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aoLMp6q3js Not sure if this is intentional, because Junketsu has been usually described as the representation of purity. On the other hand, I just realized that Ragyo technically robbed Satsuki of her Purity in Episode 18. The purity's been tainted by Ragyo and bestowed upon Ryuko. Anyway… At Japanese weddings, brides will often wear three or more dresses throughout the ceremony and subsequent celebrations with a traditional kimono, white and color dress combinations are popular. White is used because in Japan it symbolizes death - in this case, the bride becomes dead to her family. The bride will eventually remove her white kimono to reveal another colored one - usually red - to symbolize her rebirth into her husband's family. https://www.marryjim.com/en/page/show/id/30/template/history So, Ryuko rips off her white wedding dress and is showered in red blood. Now, she has been reborn to wear Senketsu, whose distinguishing color is also red. Give me liberty or give me death, eh? "One wave is all it takes…" And the backstab of the year goes to… Oh, look at that, you've been impaled. Now that Ryuko's identity crisis is over with, we're one step closer to Ryuko and Satsuki finally teaming up together. One more thing about the first ED is that everyone else, besides Ryuko, is nothing but lifeless mannequins in clothing. In light of what we know now about COVERS, that's kind of awesome. http://i.imgur.com/jehF7Zd.jpg http://i.imgur.com/a40pvdD.jpg http://i.imgur.com/YZ4dOn6.jpg http://i.imgur.com/N6hGqxj.jpg Speaking of COVERS... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBzV7gecMx0 |

Episode 22 Ryuko tells it like it is. Senketsu blasting off! Upsy-daisy. Super robot transformation sequence. Oh my stars. Oh shit, I love me some symmetry. What a drama queen. Nui just cut through the shot transition lol. High fashion. Friends? No, more like family. Just as Ryuko was able to choose her own appearance, instead of letting Ragyo choose it for her, she can choose her own family as well. Intense pink, dramatic scale, awesome. Kick your heels up. Hooray for cartoon physics. Nui has been dis-armed. Hemingway jokes, sure, why not? Monty Python and the Holy Grail while I'm at it. I was wondering why Nui's eye never regenerated in the flashback when Isshin attacked her with one of the scissor blades and yet, regenerated when Ryuko attacked her in episode 19. I noticed Isshin was holding onto one of the scissor blades when he attacked Nui, but I wasn't sure if it was actually relevant to how it worked and turns out, it is. The blades don't actually need to be connected, as long as you're holding both scissor blades, then it still retains its life-fiber cutting ability. Someone's having a bloody good time. The censorship here is still a helluva lot better than Pupa. Surprise, motherfucker! U MAD? All according to plan. Senketsu doesn't merely follow Ryuko's orders, this is a team effort. ALL THE VACCUMS! You are beautiful, no matter what they say. Satsuki's change of heart could be reflective of Isshin also utilizing Ragyo's methods all to no avail and Episode 18's callback where Satsuki is lying naked and defeated against the wall just like the kid from the first episode is evidence of this: you can't beat the system if you follow the system. People aren't meant to be mere pawns to simply further your own goals, the Power of Friendship and all that jazz. So, Satsuki had to revise her way of thinking "She isn’t yours to give, defeating my mother is MY lifelong ambition" after how taking on Ragyo alone proved to be ultimately ineffective. Sure, she was happy to have Ryuko helping her cause, but she wasn’t willing to share the finishing blow with Ryuko. It was still just Satsuki’s ambition instead of it being THEIR ambition. It's in the OP lyrics too "A new day will dawn for us", not just Satsuki. These girls can’t “be one in spirit” or make a legit team effort if Satsuki is still looking down on Ryuko. We're just one big happy family, huh? Ha, Gamagori is eating Mako croquettes. Cute. Oh, Nonon... Who are you again? At least, they're kinda lampshading that Tsumugu turned out to be useless, after all. 3 Star Iori = Doc Ock. Not surprising to see another Marvel reference, being that Gamagori basically turns into Iron Man/War Machine and Nonon is wearing Galactus' hat. This guy. Aww. Synchronized synchronization. The moment we've all been waiting for. Hey sister! Go sister! A wild wardrobe appears! MAKO PUNCH! Shades on the head and chest? It's almost as if this was made by the creators of Gurren Lagann. Bringing back JoJoMako! Nice way to segue into Stardust Crusaders starting in less than a month. Haha this show and its ships. This was an episode full of fanservice, not the T&A its been flaunting all this time, but the literal meaning of giving the fans exactly what they wanted: Ryuko found her way, Nui got what she deserved, Ryuko and Satsuki are finally fighting on the same team and JoJoMako is back in action. Also, clearly a breather episode to save the budget for the final showdown, but it was still pretty fun for me. On another note, hooray for meaningful lyrics. "I was trying to be someone I’m not In a cramped world With no breathing room As I walked down my runway I thought I’d concealed it Behind the smile that masked my face But it doesn’t work on you You always see through my facade Nobody’s ever unraveled me like this before" The false happiness of being a slave to clothing and it makes sense to read it from Ryuko's perspective during episode 21. "Nobody else can pull these outfits off A somewhat ambiguous fever Threatens to burn our hearts away It all begins when we sever the threads of fate A new day will dawn for us We must be one in spirit" How things are going to be, instead of the way things are. These lyrics are playing as Ryuko and Satsuki fight each other, so things won't change until they team up together, which is visually conveyed by the reconnecting of the 2 scissor blade halves that transition into a severed thread at the end. |

Episode 22 So awesome! It still blows my mind thinking back to how I felt in the first half of the series compared to now. Such a huge difference. The Satsuki x Ryuko team up brought back fond memories of Viral x Simon. Their bonding moment was done well. A setup episode can't be done much better than this. Like brian said, they pretty much gave the fans everything they wanted. I absolutely cannot wait to see these final two episodes. |

Episode 23 Noticed the opening sequence of 2nd OP is like a satellite looking down on the world and 1st OP also does this to a lesser extent. Look at all that brain power. I don't have to understand a lick of Japanese to find the humor in the alliteration when Mako brings out the 999-mount Emergency Rescue Suction Device. The proper pronoun here is I. DAMN KIDS, GET OFF MY LAWN! I suppose it does look like it has a big ass. Can't fight on an empty stomach. COME AT ME BRO! Also, her jacket has torture weapons on the inside. Once upon a time, Gamagori said "Punish me! Everytime you punish me, my heart is whipped!" And she nails the landing! Do your best, Mako. R.I.P. Ryuko. The final uniforms end up being the most revealing ones. Man, these new outfits look even sillier and I love it. In line with the Marvel references, I guess Inumata is Spiderman now and he does specialize in the web. EXPLOSIVE EXPLOSIONS! Funny how Ragyo brags about clothing being the top of the food chain while the Elite Four are just demolishing them. So prettyful. Gamagori puts her hat back on while Mako's unknowingly hugging him. So, apparently, the Gamako ship was canon a long time ago. Gamagori was blushing back in episode 8 when Mako was complimenting his car. I can see clearly now… YOU HAMSTER IN HUMAN CLOTHING! This insert song is pretty nice and I like how Mako brought back the inside/outside my head thing again. This is like when they launched the blade at Lordgenome's Teppelin in TTGL. MAKO! Oh my stars. Well, this doesn't feel familiar at all. They might as well be saying "Kick reason to the curb!" Classic Nui, she's mocking them with her hair. Will the Eva references ever stop? Nope. What do we have here? Apparently, tightrope weight training is necessary preparation for the upcoming battle. This scene already amuses me with Nonon being her usual snarky self. But Gamagori's giant hands holding that little tea cup with that face is the icing on the cake. YOU PIG IN HUMAN CLOTHING! What an explosion of color. OH SHIT. Well, the stage is set. I guess the Omnisilk Koketsu is supposed to be modeled after this hooded bridal kimono and you could say she's marrying the life fibers. Well, Senketsu is probably going to get rid of his eyepatch limiter next time, because you see both of his eyes in the 2nd OP. Who knows what else will happen, but I'm sure it'll go out with a bang. Fight on, TRIGGER! In the BD commentary for episode 2, Nakashima and Ami Koshimizu talk about the first ED. They mention that the ED is actually really interesting for Ryuuko's character and the FINAL EPISODE. They said "if you rewatch the first ED after you watch the final episode everything will make sense". They also make specific note of the fact that Ryuuko is all alone. |

Episode 24 OMFG!! Back in episode 12, I mentioned the yuri fanboy inside of me stirring. I thought it was a no chance-r. Can't believe Mako x Ryuuko got a yuri ending and a kiss :)!!! You don't understand how happy that made me. She even got down on her knees and proposed the date!! The entire episode was greatness even aside from that. Didn't know how Ryuuko was going to win. Then she took on all of the remaining uniforms, transformed into a badass blonde version of herself, Senketsu's second eye opened, she impaled herself to start her infinite absorption and defeat Ragyou, Ragyou's suicide next, then Senketsu's sacrifice, crying departure of a friend, then a naked body pile-up. I mean, just look at that epic chain of events right there. There could not have been a better ending episode for me. The first half of the series was good. 7 or 8 out of 10 stuff early on, but I didn't think it would get to where it is. The entire second half turned this into one of my favorite anime of all time. Its easily in my Top 10, maybe even Top 5. The only thing I didn't like about this episode was in the ending credits, it shows Satsuki cut her hair!!! Anyway, It gets the ultimate grade from me.... 10/10, 100% Going to be re-watching this one soon in marathon mode :). |

Episode 24 I can agree that this was a pretty goddamn great finale. The epic transformations and powerups were epic and maybe it's just because I'm currently watching Dragonball Kai, but I saw Dragonball references everywhere (Like getting stronger after getting almost killed, blonde hair after the transformation etc..) and loved the episode even more for that. Looking at the big picture though I can't give this a 9 or 10 because the first half or two thirds weren't that great and those scores are reserved for shows that make me excited from start to finish. It gets a high 8 though with 82% and I'll consider rewatching it too. Not sure how that'll affect the score though. |

If I were to take emotion out of my rating it would be a 9, but I don't like to do that. I rate on quality, but I equally rate with my enjoyment and emotions. This turned into one of my favorite series ever. #5 for me all-time atm. I remember telling my buddy several episodes back, "I seriously think Kill la Kill is trying to get me to give it a 10." At the time it was hovering on that 8-9 line, but it was going in the direction I liked. The yuri just made me explode and made everything so much better, haha. |

Episode 24 Lol one of the animators at TRIGGER asked the fans for support in the form of fanart with "someone running with the Scissor Blade like a relay race, like they're desperately running in a race to complete Kill la Kill ep 24". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPNTAQ5Tz2M Looking back at the first OP, you get a hint at COVERS trying to take over the world in the finale. http://i.imgur.com/Z4VyqTK.jpg Our greatest foe yet! A giant condom! Glad they explicitly gave meaning to the light motif. It's worth mentioning that Satsuki has stopped emitting that blinding light ever since she came around. A fitting name for someone who upholds the master/slave mentality. The more naked, the merrier, I suppose. Lol it broke through the kanji. Gamagori's growth spurts are still awesome. No one touches my Mako and gets away with it! Self-acceptance! She isn't limited to hiding behind clothing like Ragyo. Although she embraces Broketsu, she is her own person as well. This is so Mako. THE DRILL THAT WILL PIERCE THE RAGYO! Use your head, Ryuko! Sisters unite! And this is from the 2nd OP. The Amazing Spider-Man Inumuta. WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!? And then, Gamagunmen fires his own face lol. Ragyo finally got scissored by her daughters! Take that how you will. Btw, Kill la Kill can be read as Cut the Clothing. The joys of decapitation. Sup, guys. So, the satellite is just one gigantic set of lips powered by lipstick? Too funny. The entire world is about to be enveloped in the control of clothing. Going back to the light motif, since Ragyo emits every single color of light in the spectrum, the overwhelming superiority of clothing makes sense. I have a feeling YaPoo! will give me shitty search results. I'm not even going to begin with Bank of Obama lol. There's also Weyland Corps, which is an Alien reference for obvious reasons. I don’t think “date” actually has any romantic connotation. It’s really just about girls going out shopping and as for this scene where she actually kisses Ryuko in her mind, all of the images in her Hallelujah speeches are supposed to be puns. http://i1.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/722/586/90a.jpg http://i1.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/722/588/d5b.jpg I love Mako flavor. Welcome to MakoLand! Interrupting Mako at your service! While Satsuki is right in that Ryuko is fighting for mankind's survival, it's even more important and thematically relevant that these girls might be granted the opportunity to wear whatever they like. So, Ryuko's channeling her ki now. With your powers combined… THE ROCKET THAT WILL PIERCE THE HEAVENS! Fashion Week is officially here. The key thing here is that everyone is willing to help Ryuko, while Ragyo is forcing her ideology on people. SUPER SAIYAN RYUKO! "We thought we’d go all out with the best elements from shonen manga" Can't have the best elements without DBZ. Also, the bunny ears could be a reference to the girl from Daicon III/IV, which was GAINAX's first production and similarly, Kill la Kill is helping TRIGGER hit the ground running. DRILL ALERT! Time to bust out the heavy duty scissors. We full on Maleficent now? Exactly what I wanted to hear. Choose your own appearances instead of letting other people choose it for you. On top of the dialogue taking a page out of Goku's playbook, this scene is so Gunbuster as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4ySBWtH2ac&t=2m43s Wow, actually putting all those battles from the first half to good use. What will put a stop to Ragyo's plans is not a mere weapon, but the power of free will. THIS IS THE WAY TO BE MORE STRONG! Love this bridge and it works wonderfully with Ryuko and Broketsu so in unison. Can't move my feet in the dark… Don't wanna be all alone… Can't feel the heat in my blood… Do you remember what we said? DON'T LOSE YOUR WAAAAAAAAY! Ryuko and Broketsu don't fit so neatly into Ragyo's master/slave mentality. Because they feel it doesn't need to exist in the first place, which makes them the perfect embodiment of resistance against Ragyo's necessity for hierarchy. Destroy the hierarchy! Neither one needs to be superior over the other. Kick reason to the curb! I'm just going to assume this is another Evangelion reference. Because the entire second half has just been one big love letter to it. Keep the DBZ references coming... Battle of Gods. Great imagery. Damn, Broketsu just pulled a Nia, but this concludes Ryuko's coming of age story. You don't have to only wear the clothes you were born to wear and now, you can wear the clothes you want to wear. Free will, self-expression and stuff. BROKETSUUUUUU! Satsuki to the rescue! The power of friendship is strong with this one. We're all just one big naked nudist happy family. Still pushing for Boxing and Tennis captain ship, huh? Flash forward and gone is the pyramid hierarchy of Honnouji Academy! A Blushing Satsuki appears! "I am now free of the past karma of the Kiryuins…" And so, she gets to try out different outfits for a change. Go for it, Gamagori! "Some things I've kept hidden from everyone, but tonight, I will reveal my secrets to you" Fitting lyrics. Even though they're wearing clothes again, they aren't hiding behind them and are pretty much naked at heart. Never forget. So, this is how the first ED related to the finale. She may have outgrown Broketsu, but she will never forget him and he will always hold a place in her heart. They totally should've used the full version of Till I Die somewhere, but oh well. Also, she's wearing a skull jacket similar to the one in Gurren Lagann. This obviously isn't animated as well as Gurren Lagann, but I think it has more impressive art direction and it certainly made the most of its limited budget, not unlike JoJo or Monogatari. On top of that, it showed off a colorful cast of characters that never took themselves too seriously, despite the underlying themes of free will and hierarchy. Like Gurren Lagann, it takes a simple idea and blows it up to ridiculous proportions, which makes for quite a fun watch. The fact that Trigger's first real debut turned out to be a profitable 24-episode series with the budget they had to work with is incredible. 10/10 Apparently, the OVA in the fall is gonna be about the graduation ceremony that takes place after the final battle and before the epilogue. As for what else is in store for the future, there's LWA2 and a light novel adaptation. Definitely looking forward to the former and the latter is probably the last thing you would expect from these guys, but they were just barely able to finish animating Kill la Kill and probably just need a little something to fund their next project. |

Episode 24: Haha! Don't worry, Higashi-san - if that makes you a hater, I'm a hater too :P I'm giving it 81% (8/10), for pretty much the same reasons as you. The final episode, I have to say, was a FABULOUS last episode. A basically perfect conclusion to the show. Also I got gigantic Ryuuko x Mako feels ;33; So yeah, an enjoyable show in the end despite a highly dubious beginning! Good job, Trigger. Ryuuko is a badass for the ages. ^-^ |

Sandy, I remember you were wondering about Mankanshoku wordplay earlier, so here's a read into that, amongst other things. http://www.studyofanime.com/2014/04/clever-names-and-lecherous-uniforms.html |

Ep 24 Well I'm finally finished this and honestly I feel a bit underwhelmed. The finale felt like the TTGL finale but not as epic. The humour reminded me a lot of Panty and Stocking except it wasn't quite as funny and there were too many parts where the show was asking me to take it seriously. While the show is fully aware of it's flaws, it doesn't make them less excusable. For example Ryuko and Satsuki have really similar personalities. Single minded and perpetually mad. Which kinda came to a head during the ep when they switched roles. Mako and Nui are two faces of the same coin and They seem to acknowledge this right at the last episode, but does that make it any less lazy? I thought the elite four were really interesting, but just didn't get enough development as I hoped. Only Gamagoori really has a proper reason for the extreme loyalty they all share towards Satsuki. Plus one of the only characters I kind of admired Sanageyama had his short, but decent character arc pretty much made obsolete by giving him back his eyes in the last episode. Then Gamagoori's potential romance gets benched for girls day out with yuri undertones =/ It seemed like they were trying to go through every major anime trope in the last episode and they may have very well succeeded, but yeah I guess not really finding a character I could relate to really hurt the show for me. I still enjoyed it for the randomness and fights. 6/10 |

Episode 25 Unnecessary? Sure, but still plenty of fun and reinforces how far the characters have come since the beginning of the series. "I bet you're all a lot better now than you were before!" All the talk about moving on works in more ways than one, as TRIGGER is basically saying "we're done with Kill la Kill". Little Witch Academia 2 will already be in a similar vein, so I hope Ninja Slayer turns out a little different. Anyway, nice callbacks and dat Graduation Final! 8/10 |

Episode 25 [spoiler] Very enjoyable epilogue. I loved how the development of all the characters was highlighted and the graduation conclusion was very satisfying as well. Basically a lot of the good things condensed in one episode. 8/10 from me just like the series. |
