I have to say this final battle was rather lackluster. Considering the scale of those involved, it actually felt like one of the least exciting. There's also the issue of the hyper cliches being tossed in to end it. It felt like Clare was onto something when she was remembering Teresa talking about the goddesses, but then it just kept regurgitating the berserk routine. I'm at least glad it was Jean who saved Clare and not Raki. They already did that early into the show, no need to beat up a one trick pony.

And then of course, there's Raki. He ended up being the weakest aspect of Claymore. Initially he served as a foil to humanize Clare, but it felt like his naive, let's-all-get-along routine turned stale quickly and he didn't deliver. Now despite all of this, I can still see where he's coming from. He felt for Priscilla because she really was another victim of the never ending madness. This can be seen when her memories are constantly overlapping one another and turning into nonsensical delusions.

Honestly I never once came to dislike her. Even though it set me off when Teresa was killed, I still couldn't really hate Priscilla for it. They're all victims of a cycle of rinse and repeat agony, revenge, and rage. It's as Raki said, had Clare exacted her revenge, she would be in the same position. Then Claymores would have been sent after her. Then she would have been hunted down, leading to more victims/awakenings in the process no doubt. Raki just wanted something to change.

Speaking of, these last few episodes certainly did not change my overall impression of this series. While I felt like I did force myself through the last 2-3, it was nothing short of a pleasure to speed through the rest of it. This was pure intensity. 26 episodes of constant brutality, merciless battles, and a world as primal and savage as it got. Not once did it lose my attention. I'd say the best part is definitely the flashback with Teresa and Clare. Not only is it Raki free (well okay, especially because it's Raki free), but the build up and attention to it was phenomenal. It made Clare's resolve even more compelling and opened the door from a show about yoma hunting to a whole new behemoth.

Alright! Now it's time to wait for a second season...
*checks studio*
Nope, this is it. End of the line.

Can't say I wasn't warned. Certainly I went into Claymore knowing that it wasn't a complete package, but the ending was surprisingly satisfying. I thought it'd be some dramatic cliffhanger, the open ending makes me not mind leaving it alone. But I'm not gonna! I actually really want to go read the manga now, it's been months since an anime has compelled me to scurry over to the source.

9/10, even with its shortcomings Claymore lived up to its name - great and powerful. With that said, I really need something light and relaxing now....

Oh god why... why... everytime I find a good anime it's always ruined by someone... SOMEONE!... in this case, a guy, and one that reminds me of Yuki from Mirai Nikki, why... gdammit.

Wasn't satisfied with the ending though (mind you, I enjoyed the anime immensely except the obvious character) but I'll read the manga, just hope... no, pray, that guy isnt still annoying.

I can't agree with you more! I just literally finished the anime right now and WOW... I have never had such a bad migraine since having to deal with Yuki... I prayed and prayed I would never see another Yuki...

What a horrible ending for such an amazing ride this anime was! The moment Raki came back for the last fight with the silver eyed lion and going in the the final fight with Priscilla it was like... someone taking away your favorite ice cream cone and giving you a piece of dog crap to eat

After years of hearing how bad the ending of Claymore was I entered this episode with much fear, then it ended

Not a great ending but a fine one, I haven't read the manga so there is that I guess and it was a bit dramatic but not horrible, made me want to see more, which I know will never happen, but whatever

8/10 for me for the show, good show, Raki was annoying, but that is to be expected from his type of character.

Seriously, the ending was fine.

clare never got her revenge against priscilla, how lame. Raki should have been killed by clare, instead of Jean. He irritated me so much and the four of them have left the organisation, it was kinda expected anyway. The series was not complete because Isley the silver king has not yet fought.

why didn't Raki let Clare kill Perscilla? He can find a hole and die I don't care. I bet he wouldn't have stopped her if he hadn't know Perscilla in the first place. I have to read the manga starting with this battle

Good job Raki, you just destroyed the one thing Clare lived for, for pretty much her entire life.
Poor Jean having to save Raki by sacrificing herself, even though she was already probably going to die anyway.

I really liked the dark setting from the start and it's unique setting.
Even though the characters are pretty much all blonde and have similar looks it wasn't hard to tell who was who and the names stuck with me aswell.
Raki was not really needed imo ... or rather it could've been any other kid that wasn't really as obnoxious as he was.

The fights were amazing and really exciting, I was sometimes even amazed on how easy it was for other Claymores to suddenly just some limbs here and there.
Unfortunately the ending was a bit of a letdown but it's good knowing Clare can live on.
This anime really stood out on it's own!

10/10 from me, can't justify giving it anything lower despite the ending.

*Edit - Oh and I forgot to mention, the music was topnotch but that's to be expected from Madhouse.
I've gained a few new favourite soundtracks just because of this anime like; "Ooki na Ken" and "Kyoujin na Chikara"

Considering that ending, actually the last few episodes, I'm really tempted to give it a 3 out of sheer pettiness. Thoroughly enjoyed the series before that epic failure though (fantastic Teresa arc), so a soft 7 it is. Still, a damn shame.

This show needs to completed asap. Even in its current form it's far superior to most of the anime these days. This ending depressed me big time until i found out about the manga. Trust me anyone disappointed with the ending go read the manga, it has an epic ending. This was the only series which forced me to pick up the manga.

Well, I gotta say the end wasn't a blame by itself, but the way the story was being undeveloped in the last episodes... Where the fuck were N°1,2,3,5 when the most important conflict was happening? Why did the organization ignore it like that? Miria said that the team would be a distraction while the rest of the fellas would do their damn business... But NOTHING happened at all. They just hid. Isley could just fuck the world out if he wanted to, now that half of the Claymores died... Where was Riful, also, that was looking for a way to defeat Isley, she could just utilize the moment where his defesenses were lowed to bring him down, come on, Rigardo died and Priscilla almost...

i already knew it was gonna finish like this, but damn, was i pissed off when raki didn't die...
if the point was to make me want to read the manga, i guess it worked, because it started brilliantly. i wasn't that much into clare first - and i already didn't like raki - but the other claymores were pretty interesting and the story was building up nicely.
i just think they could have explored a different angle from the manga if they only had twenty six episodes, like the organization thing instead of turning this into a revenge story against priscila - who should have died if that was it - but anyway, this topic is a hell pool of manga spoilers though.

Well done Madhouse, ruining a great story with your shit fillers, and turning a monster hunt into a fucking gundam battle. 7/10 for the entire series, 9/10 if those last 3-4 episodes didn't happen.

I agree with MondayBlues about the ending..
Don't know about you all but this final episode felt rushed?
So one of the claymores had to sacrifice themself for Clare :(
Raki doesn't change and is STILL annoying by the final episode

The ending made almost everything pointless.

All the fights, the strugles. Everything.

Why did they have to add that stupid male boy? I don't know if the manga has him, but seriously... all his damn fault. Since the beginning, when they introduced him, I got bothered by it, but now thanks to him I got an ending that made (for bad) my day.

Anyway as expected those animes which don't end with a first season
are like the same lame ending I didn't say all of them so don't start arguing.
I would have loved to see Isley join the fight but what can I say :/
This show was far better before Teresa's death and the mc lacked in the
emotion area tbh I will give this show 8/10 just because of Teresa's arc now
I need to start reading the manga I wonder if it's better, I guess, it must be xD

Actually did not really dig the whole ordeal with Priscilla so I couldn't find myself to completely enjoy this final episode. I definitely expected more from this final fight. I agree with everyone else about Raki just ruining everything. I'm highly disappointed that this guy made zero development from being a helpless crybaby in 26 episodes. I tried to give this guy a chance after the first time we ever saw him but not a single shred of development. After the fight Clare had with Rigardo is where the show went downhill for me. Putting aside the last couple of episodes and Raki, I did enjoy the show for the most part. It was great we at least had other Claymore who were enjoyable and interesting.

What kind of worthless episode is this the only thing I can say.
Raki as an annoying brat talks about their past that everyone lost someone but he is the only one who knows nothing so he became much more irritating than before and when you know priscilla chose power herself while the rest choose death, this makes the ending unexceptable. If that Raki brat killed Priscilla himself to save Clare from turning that might save the ending but noooo...

Ending ruined the show for me totally

This was the last show I'd expect to get attached to the characters, but a lot of the Claymores ended up being pretty cool. Especially Helen, I like her a lot. As for the show itself I think its shounen origins prevents it from truly being interesting. Fantasy melancholia needs some ambiguity and emotion to make it work, but this is too transparent and obvious for that to really happen. I'm not sure if this is purposeful or not but the super fast sword techniques were pretty hilarious to watch, and probably saved on animation budget. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but only ended up being okay. I watched this to see a oneshota road adventure, and only got that for like the first few episodes.

Teenagers are literally the worst. Their whining about Raki took up more time than he appeared on screen.

This anime started pretty damn good, had a good consistent middle but started to get crappy at the end and this episode was total crap with Raki's bullshit cliché lines with the "don't kill her" shit that annoyed the hell out of me.

I watched this anime years ago in 2007 and loved it to death, right now I re-watched the whole anime again and I still loved the beginning and middle half but hated the ending. When you get older you start watching things from a critical point of view, in 2007 I was Ok with the ending but now in 2019 I totally hate that generic shitty ending.

I see a lot of people hating on Raki, I actually had no problem with him in the beginning and the middle, it was this episode that made him a stupid cunt character with his moral compass crap, he was fine before but this episode totally ruined that character for me. In 2007 I was kinda scared watching that part when Raki was talking bullshit, I thought that Priscilla was going to kill Clare because of Raki and I was feeling extremely uncomfortable there.

The music was pretty good as well, In the past I rated this a 10/10 but in this re-watch I will rate this a 9/10 just because of that stupid shit ending.

But damn I still can't take this show out of my head
It has an indescribable aura, the animation and OST are just masterpiece, and all the concept of Claymore and their organisation is great and deserves to be more thorough, the characters also are insanely badass, it's kinda frustrating because this show has so much potential, I could do everything to get an other season or a remake like FMA pleaseeee

Just started to watch the series because i really like adventure fantasy anime.
The female mc seems kinda intresting but im at episode 3 now and i really dont want to continue because the boy is so annoying. I really wanna pause and close the anime every time he speaks.
His character feels super bad. He loves that woman so much despite not knowing her and his family got killed by a monster which she is half. He doesnt do anything useful other than praising her.
Maybe the fact that im watching the dubbed version contributes to this aswell because the voice alone is super annoying.
I think i need to find another anime.

Anime is one of the most intense anime whereas anime do have some story left out from its original source and the ending is changed too (so better read the manga). Claymore anime sure gets better in terms of intensity, then a drop at the last due to changed ending. Its intensity is still worth the watch and time and so does its characters(almost perfect) and the story(almost perfect).

Y'know I binged the entire show in a sitting (took 12+ hours however) and seeing Claire's life motive (Teresa-post) crumble like that plus Ilena and the 4th-ranked's support thanks to that vexatious kid is just .. infuriating. In the end, as a result, Priscilla is still out there and to make matters worse she's still a part of Isley's formidable army.

Anyway that aside for the time being, the fight here was a let-down really. Rigaldo vs. Claire was frankly a lot more visually pleasing and intense. Even more questionable power-ups this fight too, what a mess to sum it all up. Seeing Priscilla cripple in front of Teresa time and time again was really cool to watch though, I wish they could've made a comeback for her like the manga did.

RIP to Jean, by the way. Reki didn't even manage to save her this time around, talk about a thoroughly useless main character *sigh*. A nothing ending, over all. I hardly feel any sense of closure. It's really such a pity, I was enthralled by the first 8-9 episodes but then from episode 15-16 onwards it just kept going down I'm afraid.

As for the whole show in general, the Sound Department was a real treat! Especially the ED and some of the melodious Soundtracks. Op never really grew on me but it wasn't too bad either. Animation Quality swayed from excellent to poor and vice-versa throughout the course of the series but as a whole it gets a solid pass from me. Some of the background details were simply brilliant, after all.

I was just checking if there is any news on the remake of Claymore anime or not because it really deserves one. After a quick look through the whole discussion I would recommend everybody who liked the story to please read the manga before giving your criticism on the story.

What anime covered was only the first 59 Chapters of the Manga with the 59th chapter being "The Assault on Pieta, Part 3" and after that there are almost 100 chapters to go so it would be better to read the whole story before making an opinion based on just the part of a story. I still remember that when I watched this anime, manga was still ongoing and I followed it to the end for another 2 years or so and after completing the whole thing I felt that whole thing should be adapted to anime. I still feel that and awaiting for the good news....

why should you continue reading manga? because,

1) Claire's fight with Regaldo the Lion king was where the anime deviated from the original story.
2) She killed him but had to awaken 1 more step (same form which anime showed when she fought
Priscilla at the end of the anime)
3) Raki never met Claire until the end of the manga..Galatea never came to Pieta same with Priscilla and Isley...

It was good anime but ending felt very rushed and unsatisfying. Seems like they wanted to make second season. Raki was kind of underdeveloped character. Also, it doesn't make sense for me that Claire trained this sensing/dodging ability for Priscilla fight and then she just basically overpowered her with brute strength... Teresa vs Priscilla fight was much better than final Claire fight...
I enjoyed this anime anyway. It's 7/10 for me.

I'm giving this an 8/10 because all of these gorgeous women fighting, the gore, the deaths, fights, etc. were great.

Albeit, Anime-wise, the fight between Theresa and the other Claymores was the best for me. Theresa wasn't even in full yoki form either. I wanted to see more of Theresa than Clare, tbh. Theresa was my goddess, best girl, best mom, best woman, best everything in this series for me.

I heard that the manga is different from the Anime so I'll be reading the manga instead. I feel like this series has potential to be 10/10 but knowing that it deviated from the real story, I can't give it any more than an 8. I hope they will remake this series in the future with cleaner animation, great music (I like the ost for this though) and even more bad ass sword fights. I'll be reading the manga from now on to get the real ending.

This was a really good show. 8/10

At one point I thought this was borderline 9/10, but I didn't think the Clare v Priscilla fight was that interesting compared to earlier fights. And Raki is just super boring and annoying. As soon as he started playing a larger role in episodes later in the season, the quality of the show got worse.

Doesn't look like a sequel is ever going to happen. So I guess I'll have to read the manga to find out what happens with Priscilla, Isley, the other Abyss awakened being yoma folks, the role of the mysterious organization, etc

A good show overall 7/10.
I know this this only covered part of the manga with an anime original ending.
The last episode was lame...it made everything in the past feel redundant.
Raki is really annoying...i had to skip scenes with him in it.
Priscilla the all mighty Villain in this series was not explored much...it feels like she or 'it' showed up for convenience sake.
Just like alot of scenes in the series,it felt convenient.
The ost is really enjoyable to listen to.
Hopefully some day its gets a remake.
Now to read the manga...to understand it better because i really love the lore of the series.

The anime as a whole is very immersible, you get attached in the second episode and want to continue until the end.

Claymore had a great development, either in the plot or with the range of characters that were introduced (with the exception of Wesley and company that were not explored either).

This last episode I confess that I expected more. I expected a fight with more presence from Clare, even though she was the weakest of the Claymores. However, Raki interferes and causes Clare not to make any mistake that she might later regret (or wake up for good). I don't know if I really wanted Priscilla's death, but I expected at least one type of purification, because nothing prevents her from returning to who she was and waking up again bringing chaos and discord in Claymore's world, it is good that it remains a loophole for a possible future continuation ... Anyway, I loved the anime from beginning to end (even though I just "liked" this last episode, really cool).

I hate this "There's more to explore" kind of ending....but oh well, that's the cue to read the manga I guess....

A wholesome ending, but undeniably cheesy. It could have been worse certainly.

The worst part of this show was certainly the last few anime original episodes. Which is fine, I went into this to get me excited about reading the manga (whenever that damn box set is re-stocked) and it definitely did that. Plenty of 8/10 and even 9/10 moments here.

The anime as a whole though will stick with a 7/10. The great parts are good enough to keep it at that level even with a subpar ending

It was an okay ending to a pretty good series. I had heard a lot about this ending being downright terrible, but I thought it was fine. I might give the manga a shot now that I've finished the anime.

Also, I hated Raki the entire series. What a shitty, bland character.

There should have been an option for 2.5/5, because those are my exact feelings about the ending. It contradicted the primary goal for the protagonist at the start of the series, plus the open end without a second season doesn't do any good either. All the build-up to this moment led to a swift and incoherent finish with characters constantly repeating their favourite dialogues and flashbacks flashing back-to-back. If not a 2nd season, at least they could have paced it better and given a more plausible ending. Regardless, the show was pretty good, so I rated it no less than 7 but it could surely have been better.
