Yes! If an anime series is going to do an omake episode, it should at least be funny, which this was!

Genius episode, the Americans were brilliant, with all their little quips and insults!

Funny, funny, funny!

I loved this episode. It's my second favorite episode after the one where Jin falls for the prostitute. (Polar opposites in tone, but that's me.) My favorite part was when Mugen started pitching.

Why did they waste their time on a baseball episode when there are only three episodes left????!

because apples

as out of place as it may have been, i'm sure that in the end... it's all about the three characters who we've been following from episode one til now; whether it be filler, sequential or just straight ridiculousness, as long as the entertainment value is there, i don't mind it.

Personally I don't see why this episode is receiving so much praise. It wasn't as boring as episode 22 and I'll admit it was kind of funny, but it wasn't nearly as enjoyable as most of the other episodes.

In fact, after seeing episode 22 and this episode I actually felt bored of Samurai Champloo for a while. Since watching episode 24 just now, however, my interest has once again been piqued.

I thought this episode was hilarious, especially the baseball game. Lol @ the end with Mugen and the narrator.

"I'm an American. Yankee Doodle!" I nearly died at that quote.

Its hard to find non-'filler' in the first place with Champloo. You should just accept every episode really, infact, in a weird way this is more 'canon' if you will, than other episodes, because the whole hook behind Champloo is the melding of modern and historic and you cant get more juxtoposition than Americans playing baseball against Japanese.

Champloo was never about a narrative we're meant to follow, and its almost not even like Bebop with characters driving the show. Champloo is just a random remix of Japan itself; past and present. Watanabe has the sense to end the show with character interactions and conflict but we as viewers shouldnt feel bored when they're not on their flimsy 'mission', we're just observers of a unique representation of Japan really.

^this has been quoted but needs to be again because it's accurate! every episode is an individual work in itself. anyways, i was cracking up the entire time...definitely the funniest episode so far.

I agree. It was better than 22 and it had it's funny moments but I'd only rate it a 3/5. Personally, there were several episodes that had me laughing far more than this one but I guess we were missing something. Anyways, onto episode 24.

Are they out of story or something? Other than this turning in to a baseball episode it was actually quite good for it, though still dafuq is up with the random story's not connecting to the main plot?

I enjoyed this episode quite a bit after the boring piece of whatever it was that was called 22. I do agree that this as well was completely pointless and like many others hope to see more plot in the remaining eps

This show is all about the filler

If you cannot accept that, then stop watching it.....

just going to quote this from page 1 to reiterate it. this show has always been episodic. every episode up until this one has been just as "pointless". and anyway if you think it's pointless you're missing the entire point of the show

This episode was the worst and the best at the same time.

It made no sense, was pretty stupid at times and had horribe Engrish.

However, it really made me laugh, and I kinda enjoye it :D

Agreed, that was great.
I can't believe people still say things like "filler" and "pointless" at this point.

-Who? Who, who, who, who, who!
-Who are YOU?!
-Uh, oh, America-jin, america-jin.

This was the first Samurai Champloo episode I ever watched, years ago randomly deciding to watch adult swim. When I recently decided to check out Samurai Champloo, I remembered it as "that one with the baseball episode" and had been waiting for it to show up the entire dang time. Finally 24 episodes in and here it is. I guess in the large picture this episode doesn't add much, but it's what drew me in and as a stand alone episode it does pretty well.

Loved this episode, the Americans speaking english and stuff was hillarious. But something like this to happen on this time period would be impossible, because USA was just an British Colony at this period. But this episode is not to be taken seriously, they did it for the lols :D Good compared to last episode.
