I've met a lot of different people from many different cultures and places, and I can't say that there is much difference between a Scandinavian and a Dutch, or a Scandinavian and an American. It's like some kind of culture continuum.

Anyway, yes I like my country's culture.

A quick addendum; I've oft heard Australia described as "The World's Suburb."

I thought that was pretty accurate.

I''m not sure if this is about modern culture or something else.
Anyways, as far as "real culture" goes, my country's got really nice architecture, we were pretty big in classical music (Liszt, Bartok, Kodaly) and our classic literature is certainly above average. Our cuisine is definitely one of the best in the world and we are very proud of our alcohol.
There are less good aspects of our culture as well, such as the infamous "we are all alone" mentality.
A deep, permeating consciousness is another integral element of national identity. It can be summarized as "we are all alone" and is based on historical reasons and the "otherness" of the language and the origins of Hungarians. While the consciousness of "we are all alone" was dormant during the socialist period (1948–1989), it still remained a recognizable and crucial part of the national identity.

I also like how my country was always a multi-ethnic region in one way or another. We have several great Hungarian heroes who had Croatian, Serbian or even Romanian parents/ancestors (Family names that refer to ethnic groups are very common).

I don't like our modern culture at all. Too much of this "we must be like America" mentality and liking your own culture is shameful. The people are unfriendly and the media is shit. The TV shows are absolutely terrible, our music is crap, and the online news are all biased towards one political spectrum.

"Syncretism is a combination of separate concepts into one new, unique idea". "Cultural syncretism is when an aspect of two or more distinct cultures blend together to create a new custom, idea, practice, or philosophy." " Cultural syncretism can occur for many reasons, from immigration to military conquest to the marriages between groups, and results in a culture finding ways to blend new customs into their own."

Alternatively, it does not find a way to "blend new customs". Or it does, and it turns to shit.

I hate Israel's culture. It's all super models and programmers. The idea is, if you're not one of these you're worthless. There's barely any room for culture.

Not in the slightest. It's too much inspired by Hinduism and the archaic traditions of the Aryans.

I guess nowadays' fancy is to either stating you dislike or hate your own culture... To state you're proud of it would seem to automatically lead you to being a paria in the eyes of others.
Is it a shame or something to be proud of a country's culture?

Why did you delete your Jew comment?

I mean, sure, their religion sucks, but they're hardly a problem. They don't even want people to convert.

They're a problem, but I'm not sure how much they're a presence in Israeli culture. Israeli culture is dominated by supermodels and programmers. It's a narrow minded view of things. I hate this place.

Spaniard here. I have mixed feelings for my country's culture.

I strongly dislike some traditions like bullfighting or the Holy Week, but I love other things like the cuisine or the nice weather and the amount of hours of sunshine (specially in Andalusia, where I live).
Honestly, I think the Holy Week isn't that bad. I'm not a religious person but I don't dislike it either, everyone is free to do what they want and it's a harmless tradition. We've been a very religious country for centuries after all.

I agree with everything else though, and Andalusia is really beautiful. I'm andalusian too so I can confirm :P

I don't think my country even has a culture. They seem to cling on to and praise old traditions and customs but at the same time, they roll over everything they just said with a bulldozer to make way for new. I don't get it. It seems so superficial to me.
They also seem to like to socially treat the middle class and lower class like garbage, like "if you're poor then you have no value" etc.
Actually, I think my whole country is shit as a whole, tbh.

Meh, some parts of America are alright, but for the most part I tend to think tons of Americans and there cultures (more so the "white trash" or "Ghetto" Americans) are complete shit, and could learn from asian cultures. Or even some european cultures. But hey, thats my inner weeabu coming out. I do love being able to eat at a mexican restraunt that serves sushi though!

Damn straight!

Our culture (like it or not) is popular all over the world.

We make the best movies, TV shows, porn....we're the kings of entertainment.

We have the best basketball, baseball, and hockey leagues in the world and generally no other country can match our love for sports.

And say what you want about America, but this is still a great place to come and visit....from NYC to Cali...we've got it all!
