I don't agree with the people saying this was the best episode, it was good but it's been better, comedy-wise as well. And so much Fuko hate... Until Nagisa comes back it's almost impossible that an episode can be the best one yet

Solid episode. Now the two main starters are gone; Nagisa and Tomoya. XD

Looks like school in Japan are really strict with rules stuff. Even worse for Tomoya, their student council are retards.

Im gonna go against the grain and say I thought this was Fuko's best reappearance just because of the situation. It was getting really intense, and you knew a fight was about to break out when... Fuko is here! The others were funny but not nearly as intense when she appeared. Otherwise, hilarity all around.

I have to be the first one and say that this episode was somewhat on the meh side. Now I'm not saying that the episode sucked (I actually enjoyed it) but there was just some things that irked me to no end.

As you may or may not know, the Kyou/Tomoyo arc is being weaved together at the same time. Granting that Nagisa is now out of commission for a couple of episodes, kyoani made such a thing possible. My main problem with this episode is how the Tomoyo arc was forced just for the sake of showing it.

We have this one character who only had cameo appearances for 8 episodes who suddenly becomes the friend of the male lead. The Kyou arc had some tidbits here and there scattered throughout the series, you know it was coming. The Tomoyo arc just popped up just for the sake of showing it. Gotta give a supposed female lead her screen time after all, regardless of how forced it feels.

Not only do we have a forced arc, the pairings are pretty much sealed at this point. Even though it should be plainly obvious that Nagisa is the main girl, it would still be nice to have the illusion of choice. Kyoani brought down the hammer this episode and I am not very pleased with that fact.

The Fuko appearances are a part of the Tomoyo arc, even more intrusive than the ones we are seeing now. Although that doesn't change the fact that the random appearances are completely retarded and just kills the mood.

Since Tomoya doesn't look like your typical male harem lead, I'm hoping he picked up the "subtle" hints Kyou gave him. If practically giving herself to him is not a sign, then I don't know what is... Oh and Ryou actually likes Tomoya, a girl wouldn't blush like that for any other guy you know.

Pretty good setup episode but the forced aspects of the Tomoyo arc just kills it for me. The storage room scene somewhat made up for it though...xD

This is the best ep thus far imo. Storage room scene = pure magnificent win x 10. Fuko's reapearence *again* was unnecessary but it's their way of showing that shes still around and not *Dead*. Looks like we get to see why tomoyo transfered next episode. I also must agree on what someone said earlier that there is no way to end this without tears.*rewatches episode*

You just explained a vegetable.

Well i also have to say that i can't stop watching that shed scene. Never knew Kyou could be so sexy. I guess i'm a tsunere fan. Go Tomoyo and Kyou.

Can I just ask a simple question here? What exactly is Kyou and Tomoyo's arc? I can give specific episode numbers when Fuko's arc starts and ends and the same with Kotomi but with these two, whether they're combined or not doesn't really matter here since I can't tell anyway. What are their arcs about? Kyou trying to get Ryou and Tomoya together, Tomoyo becoming better friends with Tomoya and coming to wake him up every morning?

On a side note, I agree with PimpToad here in saying that the episode was just meh. I think my favorite parts were the storage room scene and almost anything that included Sunohara. Everything else...bleh. And yes, though I'm a Fuko fan, her scene is included in that 'bleh.'

Your guess on the Kyou arc is spot on, but you missed a couple of spots. You forgot to mention that Kyou is also love-love for Tomoya, drama ensues! xD

You guess in Tomoyo is sort of right, but her wanting to become student council president plays a key role in her arc. Go back to I believe episode 15/16 and watch the scene where Tomoyo stares off into the distance. That single event plays a pivotal role in her arc.

Not gonna be the douchebag who spoils the story...xD

I don't find Tomoyo's arc forced at all, but maybe it's because I find her to be odd altogether. Basically, she has very strict sense of right and wrong, and Tomoya helped her, so now she wants to help him be a decent student. It isn't less forced than, for example, Kotomi's arc introduction. I mean, Tomoya just decided Kotomi needed to get out of the library and get some friends because...well, just because. That sounds about as "forced" as Tomoyo repaying kindness with what she thinks is kindness.

Kyou's arc is very obvious since the very beggining and since she's an old friend of Tomoya she's been involved in the plot from the start. Also, considering we are reaching the final stretch, and the fact this IS NOT a typical harem anime, the "tying down" of the oficial pairing is essential to build a strong pairing. I actually felt sad for Tomoya when he sat there in the Theater Club room, going back to the very first day he met her. I prefer this over him just choosing her at the very end in what appears to be a whim.

these are going to be the best episodes of clannad yet... the ones without nagisa that is (if you are going to rant about me being a nagisa-hater... then just dont post anything... you people are too fascinated in nagisa as to see the charm of other characters)

tomoyo was pretty funny this episode. her mood seemed friendlier towards tomoya. specially when she went to wake him up... *specially* the second time.
poor sunohara... getting dragged down by tomoya.
the charms might really work... this is a world of possibilities xD
the best scene was the kyou one... it was not only COMPLETELY MOE, but it was also really comical. kyou didn't want to listen to some of okazaki's words... specially the ones where he said "stop". kyou looked way too moe... god, moe overload... and she was even prepared to get raped by tomoya... that is an almost perfect tsundere!
fuuko's appearance was unnecessary, but i didn't mind it..
i actually liked the two parts where sunohara gets kicked by tomoyo again... gotta love the sunohara abuse.
and looks like tomoyo and kyou now have bigger feelings for the un-hatable tomoya.

also, the number of tomoyo and kyou scenes this episode almost made out for the lack of tomoyo in other episodes... and now with less nagisa screentime, kyou and tomoyo can get their deserved screentime... yay

I still don't see why people keep watching shows they don't like instead of dropping them. I understand plowing through something you've already spent the effort of completely downloading/buying. But when you see an anime weekly, you have an opportunity every week to drop the show you so much hate and watch something else. Yet you keep torturing yourself watching something you don't like. Fancy that. I'll clarify I'm not trying to say you can't think this show sucks, I just can't comprehend people watching things they already expressed extreme dislike for...and doing so in a weekly basis.

Part of the problem is I'm too lazy to remove it from my auto download list from the Toshokan RSS feed so every week I have the episode sitting here. Usually watch it when nothing else is out, same reason I watch terrible shows like Naruto, Ayakashi, and Hatenkou Yuugi that any sane person would have stopped watching already. I figure if the last 7 episodes of this series aren't as god awful as some of the others at least I was entertained for half the run.

I guess I'll throw a real comment this time. First thing is that I love Fuko. :P I was actually expecting her appearance, but heh... I'm aware of the Fuko hate here and there. Suck it, haterz!! muwahah.

So the student council really got a problem here. What's wrong with having their peers active at school club, anyway? And now she got sick maybe over depression, but perhaps it's all timing. Nagisa is sick, thus we have Kyou vs. Tomoyo rivalry on the spotlight. Tomoyo really making herself acquaintanced with Tomoya, and Sunohara is involved too. Considering she's an underclassman, everyone probably find it.... weird, especially for the envious Kyou.

So in this episode, Tomoya uttered his feeling about not having a girlfriend. He consider his position being a delinquent bum and stuff, so it'd be better if he don't fall in love with someone. Perhaps this is how he perceive his girl-friends all along (just normal friends). That's a problem now that his relationship is getting more 'friendly' with all these girls. But now things aren't really good either for the Fujibayashis. Ryou feels bad about Nagisa when Ryou trying to get her close to Tomoya. So with things like this, it won't work at all.

Looking forward to the next episode~

I LOL'd hard when the charm worked XD
And the thing with Tomoyo waking up the guys ^_^

Altough the thing with Fuuko is getting a little tiring... I think I wouldn't mind one appearance per arc, but that's already twice she showed up in Tomoyo's arc.

Still, a good episode.

im guilty of this, but sometimes it really seems a waste not to watch the remaining episodes because i actually like to know how a series ends, even if i don't like it that much.

oh before you think im a clannad-hater, clannad is one of the shows i wait for every week. there are just some shows that like you said, i plow through watching, just for the sake of watching the ending XD i dunno, i just keep holding on to hope that the ending would be better or something. one example: sky girls. too episodic but the little plot that they have is what "drives" me to plow through each episod.e..when i feel like it..which is like twice a month or something XD

that said, KYOU AND TOMOYO FTW <3 damn if i was given a choice on which of those two to bang...my head will explode. well, unless they are willing for a group thing. woo!

and before i forget, for all you kyou fans out there:

I also don't see why this episode was so awesome. Are you rating it high because of the scene where they got stuck together? I think it must be my dislike for Kyou speaking, but I didn't think it was that great. The best part of the episode was Tomoya missing Nagisa. Not because it was Nagisa per se, but it's incredible to see a character showing so clear signs of infatuation. Most shows just skip that part. Tomoya isn't Yuuichi, who gave such special attention to the girls you wondered when he'd open "The Aizawa Harem Show". He's just a guy trying to help.

Also, Ryou is so shy, PimpToad, I don't see why her blushing is so special. Remember the Nagisa scene? Extremely introvert girls will be extremely introvert girls. Of course this is just what I think. But I still believe Ryou doesn't like Tomoya in special. Then again, if she does, it's not like I can blame her...

Such a great episode. I really like the screen time Tomoyo had, she is starting to get more interesting. I hope she is the one who let's us finally know more about him.

I do feel bad that Nagisa is MIA for a while, but I hope she comes back soon. Tomoya seems to be torn without her being around.

The Shed scene was definitely one of my favorite scenes in this episode I forget everything that happen with the charm till Tomoya said he was sorry.

I really can't wait for the next episode, it looks like it will be very interesting to see.

Waaah you don't like Tomoyo??? =P

Ryou probably didn't like Tomoya at first, but Kyou probably sold the idea to her. Bother someone enough and you'll usually accomplish what you came to do. We probably won't see the more dramatic aspects of the coupling that will explain this whole thing, but we will see something that will tie the Ryou/Kyou thing.

Then we go to Nagisa...xD

If you are interested more about her story, might I suggest the Tomoyo After manga? I'm severely tempted to read it myself...xD

We'll never get to see the best of Tomoyo in the anime. Just not possible since her arc is more on the romantic side of Tomoya than lets say Fuko or Kotomi.

i like the drama aspect of the show, but i am a hard fan for comedies. this episode was totally awesome because it showed more comedy than drama.
the high rating of the episode might not be only because of the MOE moment with kyou, but also the tomoyo moments, and pretty much everything else that was not completely dramatic.

Personally I find this episode tragically great...my major complaint about this show when it first aired was that the secondary characters are far more entertaining than the main characters. This episode proved it by maintaining its excellence while removing Nagisa completely.

Great episode but it cements my rating of an 8 for this entire series.
