Its been a great ride. Hunter X Hunter (2011) is te longest series I've followed on a weekly basis since episode 1 and it's been one hell of a ride.

I'll really miss my weekly episode, it's been a part of my life for quite some time now.

I love what Gon said about his friendship with Killua, that no matter where they go, they'll always be friends. It was bittersweet. I'm really going to miss this Anime, one of the greatest.

So Kite remembers what happened and everything, that's good.
Anyway that ending ... and the next episode looks even more sadder, holy shit.

Wow. They should have renamed the show Feels x Feels for this episode. They hit especially hard at the end during that Gon and Killua montage with "Reason" playing in the background. So epic. Apparently this is more like the actual "final" episode for Hunter x Hunter and next week's is more of an epilogue (and maybe a peak at Dark Continent). And I can safely say that Madhouse hit this one out of the park. That Gon and Killua parting was done just perfectly. Even the Koala guy/ant was dropping mad philosophical knowledge. And female Kite is a definite win as well.

I'm going to miss this show soooooooo much. I hope that there will be a Dark Continent season at some point in the future, but the manga is known as Hiatus x Hiatus for a reason. Bravo to Madhouse for this awesome series.

And I'll listen to this one last time for good measure.

The Koala philosophy was indeed great it made you think the never ending cycles that go on in life. I enjoyed his scene and and what he had to say.

On another note it's sad to Gon and Kill us went there separate ways but it is for the best.

Liked the Koala part rest was boring for me :(, while I like what makes Hunter x Hunter unique I also miss how it mixed with the standard shounen action that was more present in the earlier arcs.

Overall didn't enjoy election's arc much except for Leorio, Hisoka and Illumi's appearences. Also I am not interested on Ging in the least.

Really sad to end such an amazing show with this bittersweet feeling.

These 3 years went by so quickly. :') Im going to really miss this show. Oh well I guess I'll watch the filler filled '99 version. Also I feel the koala scene was better in the manga.

I wonder if they'll adapt chapter 340 next ep. 339 is probably the best place to end it, because not only does it feel like the shows ending but also because we most likely wont get another hxh anime for 10 years and 340 will just raise the hopes of the anime only watchers.

Ya gotta love that reason tho, perfect ending for this episode. Hopefully they'll bring back fear and loathing in las vegas's just awake next ep but I doubt it since they'll most likely want to pull a yu yu hakusho since theyve kept departure for this long. Which sucks cause departure is no smile bomb. Speaking of smile bomb Im going to go listen to it now.

The Killua/Gon farewell was great too, nice montage of good and bad times.

It's sad that the anime is ending, and the manga is on hiatus again. Going to miss Hunter x Hunter.

Incredible episode.

That I found the Koala's long introspective scene so utterly fascinating and compelling should give you an idea how great this was. I really enjoyed that part, especially as it dealt directly with the themes of reincarnation and redemption, two integral themes of Chimera Ant. All the talk about the soul and cycle makes me wonder about Togashi's own beliefs. There were undertones of Buddhism (fitting, as there were with Netero extensively as well) and Hinduism in that whole scene. I don't think the marking in the center of the Koala's forehead is a coincidence, to say the least.

Gon and Killua's scenes in this episode were so...melancholy. There was this sad, tragic undertone to their departure and the lead-up to it. The pair disguised their sadness and unspoken issues with silliness, goofiness, and general light-hearted chatter and banter. It hearkened back to their old, more innocent days, the ones they spent on Greed Island and in Heaven's Arena, before the darkness and cruelty of the Chimera Ants. The two were pretending that nothing was wrong, that everything was back to normal and that their friendship was perfectly stable and fine, so that their farewell could be done on good terms.

Their faces when they walked away from each other betrayed their facade, though. They both know that there are unresolved things between them, that what happened during Chimera Ant can't just be shoved under the rug that easily. We saw the full extent of the pain that Gon had inflicted on Killua earlier in the Election arc, in a rare moment of bitterness for Killua. It's hard to believe that all of that was washed away by Gon's lame apology. The things Gon said, the things he did, and the general abusiveness of the two's friendship couldn't be resolved that easily.

Togashi's deconstruction of the friendship cliche in the shonen genre is absolutely brilliant. Gon and Killua's friendship was already beyond most others in other shonen anime, even if they seemed similar. What Togashi has done here, though, is demonstrate the darker aspects of such a friendship, the brutal reality that could result when a person becomes too selfless, when the other becomes too selfish, and when neither is willing to acknowledge these problems out of fear of ruining the relationship. Friendships in these type of manga are rarely challenged, and if they are, it is due to an external event or some artificial device for a temporary time. The problems in Gon and Killua's relationship were already present before Chimera Ant, as it was derived directly from their personalities. It's just that CA is finally what fully exposed the issues and brought it to a head.

Killua knows that he needs to let go of Gon for the time being. He loved Gon so much that he was willing to kill and commit crimes for the sake of his purity, and subjected himself to endless pain and misery for the sake of Gon's happiness. Gon, due to his selfish nature, exploited this selflessness, whether he realized it or not. The dodgeball game in Greed Island, where Gon refused to let anyone to hold the ball but Killua as he powered up, despite the pain it caused the latter, is just one example. He believed in his friend and trusted him immensely, but he also turned a blind eye to the consequences, and Killua went along with it.

Neither are willing to directly confront the unspoken and unresolved issues between them. Maybe after some time separated, they'll be able to and will move past it. The whole farewell feels distinctly unsatisfactory, and it's punctuated by the fact that their reunion occurred offscreen. It feels like a deliberate choice by Togashi, to really drive home how unsatisfying the whole situation is. It feels incredibly bittersweet as a result. At least both boys have found family to be with. I hope they reunite as stronger and better friends soon enough. That ending montage....I'm going to miss HxH so much.

MY FUCKING GOD. Madhouse are complete geniuses. They take HxH and make this episode so genuinely sad, and I had to hold in tears because I JUST got caught up with the anime, and I wanted to catch up before the anime ended, and I'm glad to say I did.

The Asuka/Killua scenes were heartwarming as always. It's nice to see our favorite Zoldyck has moved on from being the angst-filled teen that plagued the Yorknew arc and 1st Part of the Chimera Ant arc, can be a genuine big brother.

I didn't enjoy the Koala scenes, because they were just pointless, and took up half the episode.

However I started to melt when Reason started to play. This is my favorite HxH ending of all time, and I'm so glad Madhouse put it here!

The question remains... How will Madhouse top this with 1 episode left?! Tune in on the final exciting episode of... HUNTER X HUNTER!!!!

I also got caught up to be on time with the *sniffles*.. final episode. I enjoyed the marathon of 12 episodes that I had saved up, sad to say but that was probably the last time I'll be able to marathon Hunter x Hunter until they begin to adapt the manga again (which will take too long). I really hope they don't make us wait a billion years for some more, this anime is just too good and handles everything perfectly. The pinnacle of shounen if you ask me.

Who am I kidding-PLEASE DON'T END HUNTER X HUNTER.

wowwww. this episode made me so so unbelievably happy.

so, what exactly is this certain number from Kite's ability that activates when he's 'adamant about not dying'? is this number the reason behind his soul transferring his soul to this girl's body? how exactly does it work?

and also i've noticed that when that koala guy was talking to the current Kite, the latter used 'atachi', like 'atashi', to refer to him/herself. So at that moment I couldn't've guessed he/she was Kite, yet afterwards when he talked to Gon he switched back to 'ore' and spoke normally, the way Kite would before he died. Or did he even die?! What's going on?! Maybe the 'whole' Kite was awakened once he saw Gon, and only then did he remember everything about himself in his past life?

sighhh, that ending made me so unbelievably happy, even though Gon and Killua did part ways. Lol loved how Alluka told the two that she would 'set him free' after spending quality time with just her onii-chan. Are you going to lock him up in a cage and take him around with you everyone til you're satisfied, Alluka?!

Normally, in shounen titles or any genre of anime, really, where two friends leave each other, they'll have this smile on their face as if they felt that everything was resolved and that everything will be okay with both of their diverging futures. I thought the ending would turn into something like that after Gon confidently declaring that friends will always be friends no matter what happens, but... did you see that expression on Gon's face when they walked away from each other, how pained he looked to be leaving his BFF (even though Alluka blatantly states that this isn't goodbye and that they'll obviously definitely get together again??) I mean, realistically that would be the natural reaction, to be so sad to leave your best friend after meeting and being together for so long. I'm still so so happy though, because this means that Gon and Killua are just that important to each other. Neither of them can STAND leaving each other.

i just... so many good feels.

First half, not so good, ruined the Koala's amazing story.

Second half playing reason T.T amazing....

I liked how in the end they showed what happened in episode 37, which directly hinted at this moment. They know foreshadowing of Togashi well.
