Both are kinda ZZZZZZZZZ for me, but at least TTB has good studio singers. Oath Sign has a random amateur shouting like crazy.
If we're talking about the OP themselves, both are also bland, but oath sign is still "better".

What? Since when has LiSA been an amateur who shouts like crazy? O_o

Oath Sign. If it was only music then definitelly To the Beginning (Kalafina's songs have a huge power). However, since it's about opening themes, animation is a huge part of it for me.

Oath Sign left much greater impact on me, the animation is in nearlyperfect sync with the sound, the introduction of the contestants of the battle over Holy Grail is incredible and it protrays the fighting style/attitude of everyone important. The only flaw I see in Oath Sign is that in the charatcer intro, you can't see all heroic spirits with their masters, only a few of them but that's not such a drawback, since it's most likely to give some tone of mystery about spirits to it. Oh, and (not really a flaw just a negative note) it doesn't feel unusual, it's very good both music wise and animation wise but 90% of the better fighting anime openings have the same feel.

To the Beginning is superior music wise and far inferior animation and fluency wise. Most of the time the animaton doesn't go along the song and it fails to catch the power of the song, what is very disappointing. The flow of the animation is equal to the song only in very few scenes. It feels way too rushed and not thought through what is dumb considering that they took several months break to make the show perfect. The charatcer introduction makes me feel/tells me nothing and you can't get even basic understanding of their attitude from it (if it changed compared to the first one or stayed the same). The charatcers feel emotionless themselves as if they were just figurines. You can't see who they are, just what they look like unlike Oath Sign. And since now it's probably going to be more drama than 1st season, it's a huge drawback.

Both openings, however, fit to the season they're in. Oath Sign is more actiony, while To the Beginning is more emotional. But I still feel they could have done MUCH better job with a song like To the Beginning.

This, but I really prefer Oath Sign. It easily became one of my favorite openings. I was quite disappointed after watching the second seasons' opening but its still good.

I liked the first seasons' opening/ending better than the second.

Honestly, I enjoy listening to "To The Beginning" more than "Oath Sign". Don't get me wrong I love both but "To The Beginning" just clicked more I suppose. It also fit the season perfectly and the animation went along well with it. I wish more openings could make me feel emotion like it.

I cant help but say its hard to choose either one since they were both perfect. Since one makes me feel strong powerful and ready for action. While the other makes me feel more emotional and careing on a spirit level.
In the end my heart cant lie and it says Oath Sign(by Lisa) is best.(my opinion tho)
Shirou you and me... are one of the same

I'm a huge Kalafina fan so it's definitely to the beginning for me. Oath Sign was real good too, though. Both fit their respective seasons well, the other being more upbeat than the other.

Most novel readers would choose To the Beginning because of how well it fits.
As a child, I was told that society is a melting pot of talents; knowledge and experience combined to form important alloys that will contribute to mankind. When I got to highschool, however, I thought that it's more like a river in which the water represents our peers while we ourselves are the stones in the river. Constant erosion by mindless majority sheeping has made us lose our unique edge. After I hit the age of 18, I realized that I've been wrong all along. Society is no melting pot. Society is no river. Society is a person, a very skilled rapist, and he has fucked us all.

I wonder if it is so hard for anime only viewers to see how much it fits...

both are great songs so I can hardly make a choice between them. But to be honest Oath Sign seems to be a little bit more favourable if I have to pick up one. I like LiSA's voice :)

Considering how To The Beginning is dominating the polls, I guess not.

I definitely wasn't surprised. To the Beginning just plain fits the somber tone Fate/Zero has and it's really as simple as that. I mean, I personally don't mind Oath Sign, but it just doesn't fit the series as well as the latter one does. I would imagine some people, including me, voted for To The Beginning because of that.

Search up the lyrics and you'll understand.

Am I just reading too much into it, or are the lyrics of "Oath Sign" sung from Saber's POV to Shirou after she finally comes to terms with herself and discards that stupid wish of hers?
What with the title being *Oath* sign, as well as lyrics like
"If I pick up this fallen hope and join it with tomorrow,
this entwined and distorted wish can also be set free."

There *are* several lines that fit Kiritsugu perfectly as well, but assuming the lyrics do not change points of view, I'd go for Saber over Kiritsugu.

Or am I just imagining things and the lyrics are just generic and purely coincidental?

Both are great; Fate/zero S1 is one of the few animes that manages to have a Great OP/ED at same time (for my taste at least). In fact there was a time that my fav OP was Oath of Sign and i liked it much more than To the Beginning. But right now, after listening to both, i conclude that i can't choose over one. Love them equally.

Both openings had something to them that made me not skip those particular scenes while watching the episodes. I enjoy both, as I said, but I think Oath Sign has a slight advantage; not by much though.

To the Beginning

It really just fits the mood and feel of Fate/Zero, in comparison to Oath Sign which is really just a generic J-Pop tune. Plus, I absolutely love Kalafina.
