@ I dunno, I lost track...

I'm independent. I have a job, in college, (I'm putting together my grad school applications next month too), in an apartment... I'm not afraid. Just, I don't want unnecessary drama or stress in my life atm. My dad will be totally ok with it at least I think so. My mom would freak; it's also why my older sisters prolly never told her. It also just occurred to me that Yuri anime just never have parents or any type of adult figures in them, at least out of the ones I've seen so far.

@ Unkind: BL is one of the few anime that the dub is way better than the sub. Seriously, the sub voices suck.

@ Tsuruya: The first two paragraphs of your spoiler is exactly how I feel, though you put it pretty nicely compared to how I would. If my parents want to be fucking bigots, they don't get a free pass just because they happen to be my parents, they are as bad as any other bigots out there. For example, my dad is a huge racist, and i despise him for it, i don't see why I should say "it's okay" just because he happens to be my dad. Now, if he turned out to be a homophobe on top of that, well, that would only make me hate him more. You should judge your family by the same standards you would judge anyone else, not say "Well, they hate gay people, but since they're related to me it's okay."

@ Nomi: I honestly will never be able to see how you can say you still love your dad after you came out to him and he didn't except you. You're his fucking daughter, he's supposed to love you no matter what. You didn't do anything bad, you just happen to like girls, and if that's a reason for him to hate/be disappointed in his own daughter, he's a terrible person in my book.

@tehno: I'm trying to avoid that, because that's the stuff I really wanna read in japanese when i get to that level, i guess i could make a few exceptions though.

@conversation about parents not accepting children's sexuality: my brother came out to our family (though i'd always been pretty sure he was), my mom accepted him, as did I. It took my dad about 4 years to accept it. Some people just need a long time to think about it I guess. They get along great now. Just tossin that out there.

@Nova: I can't really say I'm on good terms with any of my family members. I'm more like a black sheep if anything. xD; But of course, it's not like they stopped loving me. We just have very different opinions and there's nothing I can do about it unfortunately. Although I think organized religion is bs anyways, but they are just too thickheaded.

But, yeah. I've given up pretty much at this point. Eventually I'll be able to get out of here and live on my own and at that point, they won't have to deal with the one thing they don't want to see. The only problem would be if I were to ever get married. I'm not sure how that would turn out...

It's very hard for people who love their parents and family and they don't accept them. Such is the case for me, for example. I love my folks to death, vice versa, but I came out to my dad and he took it extremely badly. But it's not so easy for people who are family-oriented to just say, "Screw 'em, I'll do what I like." I have a lot of obligations to my parents, and I owe them a lot. And I don't think some woman could ever become more of a priority to me than the people who gave me life, raised me and loved me first. But that's just me, and I've had amusingly shallow relationships with women because of it. But I'm not the relationship type anyway, and I've said it before, but thinking about devoting myself to one person just makes me queasy.
