Saikyou Onmyouji no Isekai Tenseiki

Despite standing at the zenith as the strongest exorcist, Haruyoshi Kuga sought even greater power, which led to his demise at the hands of those who envied his might. As he draws his last breath, he casts a spell that allows him to reincarnate and swears to become more cunning, hoping that all his efforts will prove useful in his next life.

Haruyoshi is soon reborn in another world as Seika Lamprogue, an illegitimate son of a noble family that prides itself on magic. However, his new family largely ignores him due to his lineage and magic deficiency. Nevertheless, the unbothered Seika leverages the knowledge from his previous life to make numerous valuable allies. As he begins to explore the true limits of his abilities, Seika must also be wary of the consequences that tarnished his past and avoid repeating the same mistakes.

I can't speak for everybody here, but as someone who is tired of generic isekais that feature nothing but sex and harems, or edgelord main characters whose entire existence is to get laid, this show really came out of nowhere to absolutely blow everybody away in how fun it was to watch. Keep in mind that this show is oddly rated a 7.1 currently as I write this review on my anime list. This is the same website and people that rate a lot of other mediocre stuff extremely high. So, personally, I always am very skeptical of the ratings here. This show is the ... isekai that you've been wanting to watch that does not obsess about sex and harems and women the entire time. The main character was a successful and extremely powerful exorcist which is basically a magic user in his time period which resembles something like ancient Japan. He uses incantations or chanting and can cast extremely powerful spells, summon monsters from different dimensions, or even give people curses it's a very interesting power system, it's not just generic stuff that you've seen a thousand times.

The character, whose name is Seika, has an extremely cool and chill personality. He's a new game + Souls/Elden Ring player starting the game over for the 2nd time with all of his abilities. He has a sort of arrogance that you would get from being powerful but he's not so arrogant that he's not fun to watch. He's kind of a nice, kind, chill guy who really just wants to relax and just so happens to be extremely powerful. His whole goal is to come back into this life and not have to do that much and to let somebody else take the responsibility of being the strongest in the world. Sure It's not season 2 of Attack on Titan complex and deep but what is? Considering how bad most isekais are and how bad honestly most animes are that are released now in general, the fact that this has a 7.1 is an absolute hilarious and ridiculous joke. This anime is significantly better than a 7.1 show. This anime does not follow the generic tropes and problems that most anime face today, especially in the isekai genre. It avoids all of those by avoiding the obsession with sex, harems, women, ecchi, and all the other nonsense that people are tired of seeing at this point. There's no stupid stuff like vending machines or being reincarnated as brooms or underwear or anything like that. You have a cool main character casting cool spells, fighting cool enemies with pretty good music, and a pretty interesting power system without any of the weird stuff in between. That alone in the current state of anime is worth at LEAST an 8 and I don't care what anybody else says about it.

This anime is really successful and popular on YouTube as well, which I find funny because people love to watch the clips. People have been saying "where's the second season, where's the second season" over and over again. And yet, when I came to my anime list, surprisingly, it had somewhat lowish reviews, primarily because I feel like people here just need something to attack when there's so many more mediocre anime that come out than this every season and somehow are so rated around where this is rated. That is absolutely ridiculous. This anime shocked me and most other people that I've seen who have saw it because nobody expected it to be as good as it was or to be as popular as it has become. And I believe that time will prove me right.

As the second season comes out and I believe the series has progressed, the show I believe will get more popular and then eventually it will develop a huge following and everybody will say that they liked it in the beginning like many other anime that have come out. Not every anime is an absolute banger hit from the first season. A lot of things need two or three seasons to get going. That's not enough time for most of them to build into what they're actually supposed to be. That being said, this anime showed me enough in just 13 episodes that I personally want to keep watching beyond that. I am much more interested in exploring the powers of this system and this world than I am a lot of other things that I see out there.

Mixed Feelings

This anime was overall fine, it was certainty not the best but also far form the worst. I do not know what the source material was like but it defiantly struggled with pacing but that is the worst I can say about it considering I have not read the source material. Do I believe that it would have been better with 24 episodes and split the focus between the the main cast, the demons and (maybe) the princesses maneuvering, yes. If it had done that it could have been an interesting story of political intrigue. Instead its plot was watered down by a (half-hearted) power ... fantasy for Seika. That's not to say that it doesn't have some things that some would enjoy. I personally did like that it offered similar tones too Villainess Level 99, and if you enjoyed that but thought it had to much (not nearly enough for me) political maneuvering then you will like this. The isekai elements are defiantly an interesting part of this, while many isekai are honestly worse off of it and could be achieved as a normal fantasy this one made decent use of it by setting the other world as a fantasy flavored feudal Japan and then making that a fundamental part of the main characters ability's.

Overall while I did enjoy it, It was at best mediocre not great but at the same time not awful. I probably won't watch it again unless it gets a (unlikely) second season. though I may look into the source material to see if it handled the pacing better.

TL:DR 1 out of 10, if you've seen the meme of the bunny girl getting vored, then you've seen all this generic, by the numbers, cookie cutter isekai has to offer.


The long version, though this garbage really doesn't deserve it. Generic looking Isekai protag #753641 gets merc'd in his own world for being too OP, then gets reincarnated into a new world with all his powers. No stakes, no tension, no learning anything important along the way. Every fight ends with the exact same @$$-pull OP nonsense with the littlest semblance of a plot.

The rest of the cast may as well be window dressing, ... even the h3nt@i artists don't care about these nothing burgers. You'll forget their names by episode 3 and know them only by the bland ahh archetypes they fulfill.... poorly.

The music is nothing to write home about and the animation would've been considered mediocre in the 2000's.

It's the worst kind of bad, at least we can laugh about how goofy something like Mars of Destruction is. This is just slop, I promise you won't remember a gd thing about this bargain bin trash 2 months after dropping it. Don't make the same mistake I did, avoid this nothing burger.
