Both go through dreams and reality. Both confusing as hell. Both Mind F**ks.

The only story of any kind I recollect seeing executed like the fifth Kara movie, where the events switch between past, present and future on the fly for mindfuck purposes, is Baccano. Neither of the stories when told in order are complex, and Baccano in particular is easy enough to follow as is if you pay attention, but they can give headaches due to the mindfuckery. Unlike Baccano, Kara 5 starts out totally linear, and stays that way for the first 40 minutes or so. Then, it proceeds to jump around like a rabbit on crack, and it left me pondering at the end whether I'd  read more

The artwork and colors were markedly similar between the two. Both make beautiful use of CG and blend it seamlessly with the normal animation. Both movies also contain very deep philosophical elements and excellent action/violent scenes.

Both of em are from Type-Moon and produced by ufotable so u can expect the same theme.u can see character similarities as well like Souren and Kotomine (later on).

Both have an underlying sense of mystery and cover dark themes. Both have plot twists, although Denpa arguably has a more understandable plot. Both feature blood and gore, but are used appropriately in intense, realistic action scenes. The ending themes for both titles are also awesome!!

Both animes have a similar atmosphere because it is two stories set in the same universe. Both animes are adapted from works written by Kinoko Nasu. Both animes were made by ufotable. The chara design are very similar. Both series include epic battles involving among other magicians and beings with supernatural abilities.

Serial Experiments Lain is the king of non linear anime, and Kara no Kyoukai 5 also happens to unfold in a non linear fashion. Both anime have a similarly psychedelic presentation, and both of them toy with the idea of perceived/subjective realities.

The two series' protagonists have identical personalities, physical abilities, special ability and similar appearance. There're some slight differences: 1/ Difference in eyes colors while activating their abilities. Shiki's eyes glows blue, while Canaan's turn red. 2/ Shiki uses katana and knives, while Canaan uses mostly gun 3/ They wear different styles of clothing. Shiki wears a combine of traditional and western while Canaan wear modern style only.

The same kind of mind twist, especially with Shinobu's arc.

Both titles have mindblowing plot, which includes lots of thought about eternal problems of human being and the end-of-the-world issue. Sometimes behaviour of some characters are quite similar (Shiki-Aska, Shinji-Enjou). Both tells about dreams and reality.

messages about death, looking back at life and the dolls. anyway, they're both awesome. anybody who likes one will probably like the other (i'd recommend watching the kara no kyoukai movies in order of release though)

Keeping all-long distances, Fifth Kara no Kyoukai movie and Inuyasha's last season hold similar development storylines, specially to both ends. ;)

Both by the same writer Both have deep thoughts about people deaths (I won't spoil it ;) ) Both are deep and thought provoking Both are worth watching (the whole 9 films of garden of sinners ,fate/stay UBW and fate zero)

Both are psychological horror movies about the cases of a supernatural detective agency. Both are partly episodic, and partly about the tragic backstory of an investigator herself. While Garden Of Sinners as a whole is similar to Enma, GoS 5 is most similar. Both anime us the metaphor of a house which symbolizes the subconscious of people as kind demonic prison. In this environment, past and present, life and death, and reality and imagination blur into a feverish nightmare.

Part of the Nasuverse, packed with dark moments, drama, action and magic. Follows Ryougi Shiki who's just as badass as a Heroic Spirit with her Mystic Eyes of Death Perception.

Both are fairly confusing/weird and/or harder to follow on a first watch, and both are fairly dark. The soundtrack of the two movies sound similar, and both sound awesome. You do have to see the first four Kara no Kyoukai movies, however its dark tales should be fairly interesting to many madoka magica fans.

Both films have a history obsolete trying to explain the correct past mistakes. As in Kara no Kyoukai the protagonist Enjou Tomoe tries to understand what happened to his family and tries to fix the problem. What he does not know is that he is not a stuck temporal paradox created by Souren Araya. In Homura Madoka magika lacking in time and tries to prevent Madoka make the Contracted with Kyuubey. Trying to avoid that happened in the other timeline. Taking also both animes have as musical composition Kalafania.

Artwork in both anime have great resemblances, due to the fact that both stories are written by Type-Moon. These anime feature a world where magic exists, and can be used be a given few people. Furthermore, the female protagonists are sword/knife-wielding bad-ass without descending into the usual dere stereotypes.

Gore, supernatural, demons, horror, psychedelic, mystery and mindblowing art and sountrack. Both have a mysteric, intriguing and badass main characters with some strange powers.

This is really a reccomendation for the whole Kara no Kyoukai series but the similarities are more apparant once you reach the 5th movie. In both you have a team of misfits and abnormalities who constantly come into conflict with other misfits and abnormalities. Also the female leads are surprisingly similar in both murder and love.

Both deal with alternate realities and amazing characters. The shows deal with deep questions about over coming obstacles in life to escape an endless stream ... which reality would you chose?

It's mysterious, amazing .. and Many characters are evil and dark. Overall both have the same - this sad but in the end happy aura, which makes them both very good anime. well of course D.N. is more tragical.

Both are action horror movie with a female "badass" that uses sword to fight and that has supernatural powers as main character.

I realized just after watching this fifth film how similar it is to NGE. Not talking about the plot or world but about the deepness. NGE was for a long time my favorite anime because of the deep thoughts, now I guess I have two on the first place.

Both stories take place in alternative nowadays, with magic and mysticism in it. Kara no Kyoukai is more brutal and murderous but I find them more or less similar.

its just the overall presentation and 'feel'....the subtlety with which story elements are presented and pieced together is a bit similar. And there's a similar sort of vagueness to both animes...

Same kind of fragmented story-telling: a mixture of noir, paranormal/abnormality, with varying degrees of sexual tension while centering on a strong female heroine.
