Hello everyone, I will try to list here a long list of anime that have been broadcast on French television, being as faithful as possible.

The 80s represent the very first generation of successful Japanese cartoons to land on televisions of the time.
This wave is mainly marked by the youth program "Récré A2" broadcast from July 3, 1978 until June 29, 1988 on the Antenne 2 channel.

There are also some films and series that date from before 1978 in this list but they did not have a huge impact in France, the year 1978 especially marks the arrival of Grendizer [UFO Robo Grendizer] who was a real pop-cultural tidal wave for years, which we still see its influence today. It will of course be accompanied by equally cult anime throughout the 80s and 90s.

This stack contains anime which we Indians watched on kid's TV channels, when we were young.

The stack contains only one entry (mostly the first season out of all seasons, movies, OVAs) from each franchise to look more organised.

The stack is incomplete, but I will try to add more entries. Suggestions are welcome.

Also, if you know about the Indian voice actors of characters from these anime, please feel free to add them into the MAL People section (as many of them are not there).

Superhero anime ranging from sentai-like to western-inspired ones.

Self explanatory title, some anime with Latin American characters, who may just be side characters or protagonists. Also count series with characters from fictionalized versions of Latin American countries, or characters who are implied to be from Latin America without it necessarily being confirmed or a plot-point. Some or many of these may be stereotypical representations of Latin American people who some could find offensive, these are not necessarily instances of "good" representation.

What is a manly anime? It may be hard to define them at first glance. Rather than a textbook definition, it's more of a specific "vibe". You can feel when you're watching one of them.

One might associate them with a specific artstyle, starring adult male characters with a muscular build and detailed facial features, and while that is definitely a common trend, it's not necessarily a requisite.

To me, a manly series is one where the characters represent the ideals of manhood. They have an unbreakable determination, they protect their loved ones and are willing to risk their own lives for what they believe in, to achieve their dreams, or for a better future. And while the majority are battle oriented, they might not even need to throw a punch to be considered manly, sometimes their strong will speaks for themselves.

These characteristics apply to many other series, but a manly anime just hits different. You look at them and think "that's what a man would do".

This is not a comprehensive list, but rather, a collection of the series I feel represent these ideals best and would recommend to those interested in this type of anime.

Yes that series has a game/ is a game. As I collect anime games I want to help people find games for series they enjoy. No this is not related to mobile games, maybe I’ll do a stack for those in the future though🤔 These are tied to Console and PC systems, I won’t list specifics though but searching “[insert series] game” will help you find it. There will be multiple parts coming out!

Collection of series that feature Ondo songs as a theme songs or as part of the series.

Anime which are infamous for their filler, whether it be dragging out certain events, making up something completely inconsequential or even just lazy clip show episodes that recap the story.
Anime adaptations like the original FMA or Hellsing which completely diverged from the source material after catching up will not be on here, nor will Anime originals like Pokemon, nor will recap specials.

A collection of anime released from January 1963 to January 2000 that still have something of an appeal. For better or worse.

Note: Moderators had taken down the stacks before, since it was not wholly information based. I will post this as a note as to why such series are essential in order to defend them all as a blanket statement.

Most of the series featured have some sort of significance in terms of first best or darkest for their era which can be categorized by decennium or part of a decennium (early, middle, late). These are mixed around in order in order to give those who subscribed to list a challenge. While I could give an individual breakdown, I think some research is better left up to those who have subscribed to the stacks, since this allows for additional cultural insight into what was popular in Japan at the time, which is sometimes disconnected from the United States, as well as the rest of North America and Europe in many ways. For example, the Crayon Shin-Chan that aired in the United States and Canada is different to the one that aired in Europe, is different to the one that aired in Japan. By recommending to seek out Japanese versions of series, it grows understanding. I am not the first one to have thought of this. In the United States, there used to be a channel called ImaginAsian TV which had the same purpose of informing people about Japanese popular culture through anime. The San Francisco and San Diego PBS stations did the same thing and NHK World Japan carries this on through series like Little Charo and previously Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san.

I think it is agreed upon that retro is a niche, but with handicaps on subject matter like availability.

This series are pieces in the history of the medium, inovating or creating something new in the medium.
