A parody of the power rangers is up against generic evil organization. Completes with kids cheering them on and watching the "episode" of the battle on TV.
The twist here is that it's a rom-com between the red ranger and one of the princesses of evil corp. Also that they're both cinnamon buns. Since love in the workplace is against company policy (yes for both of them) they decided to date in secret and keep up appearances as nemesis.
Overall this was super cute and it had a few nice messages regarding a supportive relationship. The one super cringy aspect of it was the power
...
ranger parody, that... that was painful. And I hate that they kept repeating the transformation sequence like it was sailor moon episode, it just hurt more and more each time.
Plot & writing = 7/10
Plot wise there really isn't much to this beyond the premise. A pure hero & girly villainess dating in secret and attempting to achieve the milestones of a normal relationship. I am giving it extra points however because instead of going for the low hanging fruit in a few scenes they decided to make the relationship a supportive one where each party respected the other's choices. That included the choice to make a few mistakes. It's something you don't often see in anime.
Art = 6/10
Honestly that was the show's one weakness. I wasn't really a fan of some of the choices made like the odd way the light hit the rangers clothes, I get that they are saying it's plasticky and shiny but that just looked bad. Also Desumi's weird eyes was... a choice. Not a good one but a choice.
Characters = 7/10
Nothing new here. As mentioned the mains are cinnamon buns and the sides are rather tropey in nature. It was all serviceable though without any standout be it good or bad.
Fun Factor= 7/10
This is a romance first and foremost. The premise of it happening inside a kids show (all behind the scenes) lent itself to comedy but did feel superfluous at times.
Overall = 7/10
This is a cute a show about a cute couple. The rest is all window dressing that lends itself to comedic moments.

Ever had a knee jerk reaction just from a show's opening?
That's Taishou for me. A story about a sad boy being sad and the /manic pixie/ dream girl that "saves" him. I grew up in the 90s and early 2000s. This genre was practically invited back then and it completely saturated the market back in the day. I guess Japan, like Disney, really is 20 years behind trends...
Now the catch here is that she's a granny. Nope, that's it. Think of the ideal grandma, the sweet one that does all the housework perfectly, makes the best food and can sew. Yeah, now place
...
her in a childlike body and you have this show. Because heaven forbid we don't infantilize women. Sorta made worse by having the boy practically tower over her, I get that tall = handsome is most Otome stories but this just looks like a pedo entrapment show!
The rest is what you'd expect from this kind of story really. /manic/ is loved by all from the start, super happy all the time even when it makes no sense for her to be and she saves sad boy by bringing him out of his shell. In return sad boy is handsome, super tall, rich, gets good grades and is the author's ideal only with better hair.
And here is the issue I have with this trope. The characters are empty. Sad Boy usually feels more real since we get his inner monologue in stories like this but Manic doesn't really have her own identity, she is whatever will make sad boy happy (bra size included!). It makes sense that she was "bought" for him now doesn't it... By the way I find it problematic that this premise is ok in this day and age. It's a common one is BL to force the couple together but in a supposed romantic show??? There is some lip service paid towards this but that's all it amounts to, lip service.
It gets a few points since some of the situations are cute. Also the old timey 1920s aesthetic is charming and does work with manic's grandma persona. Over all it's not too bad but if you're not into this specific trope then you won't like it.

Thanks, I hate it.
Humor is subjective and to me this one didn't go far enough in any direction to even qualify for the comedy tag.
Here is the premise:-
Japanese teens are always Isekaied so why break tradition, a goddess summons one to be this world's savior in a very Konosuba like fashion. Dude is OP and he just makes up the rules of this world as he goes to maintain OP status. The end.
And this is why this show doesn't work.
Wants to be a parody like Konosuba BUT blows through the tropes due to OP status instead of actually doing something clever or unexpected.
...
So not a parody so much as a power fantasy.
Wants to be a comedy and tries to make the goddess the butt of the joke same as Konosuba BUT it's the "hero" degrading her over and over all while using her & actually hitting her. This is not funny, it's just abusive and the only one looking bad here is the hero.
Wants to cash in on the Isekai genre while being a pick me, aka "I'm not like other Isekais"... no, you're worse because others at least put the fun parts on screen. Generic as it might be other shows have world building, character arcs and plots. This one has all the good parts OFF SCREEN. Because heaven forbids we actually see those. It's just bad writing 101.
One other problem with the show is stakes. It wants to be a comedy while having the same stakes as a drama, down to that teen angst of an ending that every emo kids dreams about when they're 14. You can't have it both ways, the drama dampers the mood of a comedy while the comedy makes it so I can't take the drama seriously.
At first I was going with just bad, as in a 4 and maybe mixed feelings since humor is subjective. After that horrendous ending though it's down a point. It really came off as if it was written by a teenager during their emo phase, one that failed his writing class at that!

You know that trope of the side couple that refuse to admit their feelings so bicker all the time?
Ok, so change that from romantic to sibling and you have this show.
Overall this wasn't a bad idea. In most shows that couple and their bickering would be a fan favorite. The trouble is they are always the side characters for a reason. Some things are better in small doses.
Also it doesn't help that this show doesn't have a plot or anything. It's 100% just the bickering. Also it's one of those shows where the side characters are extra nice and exist to play
...
cheerleader for the MCs.
I'm scoring this a 6 purely on the fun factor since plot and character are practically in the dumpster.
The dub it's actually fun. Most of the jokes are verbal and include untranslatable puns & word play in Japanese so they get lost in the japanese sub and all that's left is two very annoying characters. That is a painful 3 I'm afraid. The dub lands quite a few jokes making it worth your time.

I don't know if this is supposed to be a sequel to "is this a zombie" or just a collection of OVAs.
Unlike season one this one is completely pointless, there is no plot and each episode just invents a weird mis-understanding that leads to some fan service and our hero getting beaten to a pulp. That's really it.
Speaking of, they really went over-board with the fan service in this one. I should have guessed when they opened with a swimsuit episode.
Because this was still a fun watch I'm giving it a decent score, it is recommended for anyone that's watched season one and like
...
it but not for anyone else.

So I watched the whole thing... I'm still not sure what it was.
Our MC is a zombie and living with his necromancer. This quickly turns into a harem of odd mash up tropes because reasons.
There is a villain, they're defeated... mid way. Seriously this show somehow manages to end midway giving a rather dramatic finale for a comedy before going JK there are still 6 episodes left and they are NOT filler. Oddly enough the real finale is rather underwhelming and not that memorable.
While that part is confusing and the characters very tropey the show does have a few things going for
...
it. As a show it's entertaining and as ridiculously cliched as it is it's not boring. Also the dub adds to it with a deadpan delivery that's rather funny.
Overall this one is odd and how much you enjoy it will come down to your sense of humor.

While on vacation a middle schooler was saved from drowning by a lovely mermaid.
Who is the daughter of a Yakuza mob boss.
Also there is a code about mermaids never being found out by humans so reason reason reason they are engaged now and she's moved in. So the exact set up of " Urusei Yatsura" only more romantic and less fanservicy.
The rest of show is a mix of romance & comedy as everyone is in love with either the MC or the mermaid and trying to win them over while the couple stay glued together.
While the original show and manga were fine
...
they were the definition of mid. Something that doesn't really leave a mark and lacks it's own sense of style. As mentioned the show pulls ALOT from Urusei Yatsura but without the bite that one had coming off as the diet version.
That said the Dub elevates this one. The jokes land and the delivery is on point. Also quite a few pop cultural references and puns were added that would only work in english so I highly recommend watching that over the sub.

So... this was boring.
The idea itself has merit. A princess is captured and being "tortured" by demons in a (kill them with kindness) sorta way until they get the info they need out of her.
The trouble is how empty and flat the show is. Here's the format :-
Princess is in an ugly CGI prison cell, demon walks in with something nice, princess folds like a cheap suit & they're all best buds now. Repeat three time per episode.
There is no variety, the characters flat, the humor dies after the first episode because of the endless repetition.
It doesn't help that the demons don't
...
act like demons and the princess is completely passive with zero sense of urgency. She doesn't even act or behave like a princess so it's not really funny when she "breaks".
At first I was going to give this a 5 and place it as mixed feelings but after a few episodes it started to feel like a punishment. Is the viewer the one meant to be tortured? Because if sure felt like it by the end.

The demon king has kidnapped the princess. Oh no! What will happen to the poor, innocent, darling princess!
Well, apparently she'll suffer from insomnia and terrorize the entire demon population until she gets some crafting material for better beddings. She IS a princess after all, she can't go around looking sleep deprived and tired.
This is such a comfort watch. The characters are cute and the comedy hits. I watched the dub and they nailed it.
Art & animation = 8/10
While the art is just ok the lively animation elevates it a bit. The character designs stand out especially for the leads.
...
Story & plot = 10/10
While episodic in nature most characters underwent an arc during the short 12 episode season. More impressive however is how natural this character change felt. It wasn't through the power of MC or because the script says they should.
Characters = 9.5/10
What made the show. You get to know even the side characters through their interactions rather than backstory exposition dumps which just endears them more.
Fun Factor = 10/10
This is a comedy show and the concept of an entire castle full of big & powerful demons being terrorized by a puny princess is just hilarious. More so in later episodes when you see them bowing to her will because they're so scared she might get hurt if they resisted. Also some of the line deliveries in the dub were so deadpan they added to the humor. Overall, just pure fun.
OVERALL = 9/10
This is such a cute show that it's a shame there is just one season. perfect for a binge watch on a lazy weekend.

Never have identified with a fictional character more!
Hitori, our main lead, is an introvert with poor communication skills. She wants to make friends but is so scared of reaching out so will try everything else in order to peak other's interest.... only to chicken out and try to hide over analyzing every single interaction to death.
More than that is the cast because even if you can't relate to our beloved introvert each cast member is unique and loveable in her own way. Ryou being my personal favorite since I do idolize that kind of independent woman.
It's a coming of age story but
...
from an introvert's perspective who, while struggling with social anxieties, still wants all the normal things like friends, group outings and shining bright like a star in the night.
I want to note that I watched this on the plane ride from Tokyo, Japan. It was so nice to see the same locations I just visited in the show. While the 'clubs' can be seen as generic each area has it's own feel or vibe and the show projected that perfectly.
