Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru.

When Leoleshea, a dragon god, is accidentally awoken from her sleep within a glacier, she demands this era's very best game player be brought before her. After a year of waiting, she meets Fay Theo Philus, an apostle—a human granted a supernatural ability called an Arise and thus given permission to challenge the gods in games. Fay and Leoleshea realize they share a passion for games, whether it be with cards or a battle of wits with a god. Declaring that she likes this human, Leoleshea allows Fay to call her "Leshea" and team up with her to play in the gods' games.

Ever since the gods gave humans the ability to challenge them, they have promised to grant any wish after ten victories. Leshea desires to become an official god again, as she previously descended to the human world and lost her status as a divine being. Fay has only one goal: to find the woman who long ago taught him how to play games.

Though Leshea and Fay quickly prove themselves to be a capable team, the gods will not allow them ten victories so easily: every game has its own unique conditions and hidden rules. Together, the duo will have to act as a perfect team to finally achieve their goals.

Final verdict - average across the board, but not in a terrible way

A lot of the reviews here are quite dissenting so I'll offer an alternate perspective. From the fast food anime industry comes another mid banger 'Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru'. A story about how, in a futuristic world, humans must play games against Gods and win. If you win 11? games you get to make any wish you want!

Now if you compare this to classics like CoTE and NGNL you are bound to hate this show with a passion. This show, much like a $3.99 McDouble is meant to let you switch ... off your mind and satiate your appetite for low quality but somewhat filling content. Contrary to opinion there *is* some level of thought going into the challenges, just not a lot. The plot twists are predictable and the character development and interaction is pretty bland, however unlike other shows this season such as Banished Former Hero, this does art and animation much better.

Still not sure why this is tagged ecchi though, as I am yet to see a whole tiddy or pantsu and we are already 4 episodes in.

If you need to take a break from some of the better, more emotionally invested shows airing this season, sit down, switch off your brain, and put an episode of Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru on.

Title: Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru (The God Is Playing a Game)

Story Uniqueness: While the premise of gods interacting with humans through a game is intriguing, the execution falls short. The story lacks uniqueness and fails to engage the audience effectively.

Art Style: Unfortunately, the art style is one of the worst I’ve encountered. The visuals failed to capture the essence of the narrative, and the character designs needed significant improvement.

Character Development: The characters in this series are disappointingly one-dimensional. They lack depth, and their flaws outweigh any strengths they might possess. Better character drawings could have elevated their impact.

Realistic Reactions: The characters’ reactions ... to situations and events feel forced and unrealistic. Whether it’s their interactions with each other or their responses to challenges, the authenticity is lacking.

Audience Appeal: If you’re a fan of the god vs. human genre, you might find some enjoyment in this anime. However, for most viewers, the dull storytelling, subpar art, and unimpressive characters make it a forgettable experience.

In summary, “Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru” fails to deliver on its potential, leaving viewers wanting more substance and creativity.

Ah, the allure of the psychological thriller/game genre—an intricate dance of intellect and intrigue that leaves viewers on the edge of their seats, craving more. Alas, "Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru" endeavors to join the ranks of its esteemed predecessors, but it falls short in more ways than one.

This first game battle is memoMemorymean. Come on.
Picture, if you will, a game of MemoMemorynsformed into an intense battle between our two main characters. Sounds intriguing. Unfortunately, the execution falls flat, landing squarely in the realm of cringe rather than captivating.

And let's not mince words here: what this anime lacks in intensity, uniqueness, and genuine enjoyment could ... fill volumes. Like a broken puzzle missing crucial pieces, it fails to deliver the adrenaline-fueled rush that fans of the genre so desperately crave.

But wait, there's more! The art, typically a saving grace for lackluster narratives, fails to salvage the sinking ship of "Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru." Instead of drawing viewers in, it is another obstacle to disappointment.

Comparing this anime to "Liar Liar" is akin to comparing a flickering candle to the blazing sun—it simply doesn't hold up. Where one dazzles with its wit and charm, the other languishes in the shadows, a mere shadow of its potential.
