Hi, havent talked to you in a looong time. I was looking through my comments trying to find who was the one who aggressively told me to watch Monster. It took me 3 months but i finally got to it and its rlly interesting so far.
I noticed that in the ed, theres this mini story thats being told with this witch and farmer thing, is this relevant to the main story in any way? And if the answer is a spoiler then please dont spoil me.

Yes, I personally find Momo endearing. If you like sexually aggressive characters, you'll love Momo. There's a unique twist to her personality. Most anime girls are monogamous and kinda possessive, you know? But Momo doesn't mind being part of a harem, if it means Rito (the protagonist) will love her. That's why I think she is very, very charming (there are also other reasons). I can see how it could be a turn-off to some people, though.

Yes, I have seen 5 Centimeters per Second, and I loved it! It's probably my favorite Shinkai Makoto movie to date. Your Name is great, but 5Cm/s resonates more with me. Your Name suffered from a couple of plot contrivances, but 5Cm/s took a much more realistic approach and succeeded at it remarkably. Both movies are 9/10's in my book, but 5Cm/s is a high 9, and Your Name is a low 9.

I guess Oregairu is kind of a harem. It's not necessarily known for its harem elements though.

No worries, man! Take your time to reply. I hope you are doing great! :)

Yes, To LOVE-Ru is bad, really bad. But still, it's hilarious! There are a lot of reasons to dislike the series: over-the-top and bizarre slapstick comedy, ecchi scenes that defy the laws of physics, redundant amount of fanservice and nudity, the empty-headed protagonist, cast mostly comprising generic characters and "waifu baits", and many more. But honestly, I don't care. I don't know exactly why I like it, though XD It's probably mostly because of a certain character named Momo; she is one of my favorite characters of all time.

There aren't many tbh. I think I like harem mainly because of the dynamic and chemistry between the characters. If a harem anime somehow pulls that off, it can become very enjoyable to watch. But then you can just watch romance anime, which is a lot more efficient in that regard. This is why I prefer romance a lot more.

Have there been any harem anime that you enjoyed?

I have exactly the same thoughts on Your Name. It's at least a 9/10 for me, but not nearly not as great as Koe no Katachi. I'm probably being a bit biased considering KnK is my favorite anime (or piece of media in that regard) of all time, but I truly, genuinely think that. In terms of visuals, YN is perhaps a bit better, but KnK absolutely overwhelms YN in case of the story, the characters, and the underlying message hidden beneath, that is exceptionally, marvelously powerful and strong. And that ending scene.... While it's cheesy to say this, my heart hasn't been the same since I have watched that scene. I will forever defend Koe no Katachi as my favorite work of all time.

Harems are hit or miss for me. Most harems I have watched so far are rather mediocre. Repetitive plot, generic female characters and even more generic protagonist, unneeded fanservice, etc. are the issues that usually downgrade harem anime's quality. Of course, there are a few exceptions, particularly Bakemonogatari which is one of my favorite anime of all time. There are also Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo, which is one of the first anime that I watched, and the To LOVE-Ru series, which is only a guilty pleasure to be honest.

btw suup how you doing?!?! it's been a while..... as for me i am barely managing to stay alive with all my assignments, lab records, and exams in my university!! it's literally HELL. 🤢 i am not even having much time to watch anime!!! 😭😭😭 we're gonna have our sem exams soon 😪

well yeah i did see the hentai after you recommended it to me. and the part 2 was a banger indeed 🥰

well after watching the anime series i actually loved it. it has a lot of cultured specimens such as ourselves 😎 and i have a feeling that it might endup in the top 10 list of mine. in the upcoming seasons....

ahh i see the damn school 😪

yes yes you definitely have to watch it 😌. good to know that you liked the animations :))

well s1 and of seven deadly sins are top tier!! but deen just started shitting on the seasons....and nope dude it didn't get any better...or maybe a little bit but i am not satisfied....

also what cultured stuff have you been watching lately? 😏
IrrelevantGuy Mar 18, 2021 12:43 PM
Hmmm.... Erased maybe? Bear in mind, it has been a long time since I watched it, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

The first half of Erased is amazing. A dark, mature story that anyone can find relatable. Of course, there are still a few issues and plot contrivances, but they could be overlooked in my opinion. However, from episode 9 when the killer was revealed (I believe?) the story started becoming messy and a bunch of philosophical stuff was thrown in that only came off as pretentious to me. The ending was also so anticlimactic and felt so out-of-place. It was such a disappointing experience.

What about you?
IrrelevantGuy Mar 18, 2021 10:50 AM
I have seen Utsu Musume Sayuri, and I really wish I didn't. I thought it would be weird, but not THAT weird. Words just aren't enough to describe what I felt while watching it. Probably one of the most bizarre things I have ever watched. What weirds me out more though, that apparently some people are into this kind of stuff unironically, which is just.... I don't know what to say.
IrrelevantGuy Mar 16, 2021 9:41 AM
It does feel like it. I can't imagine that someone could be lacking this much in self-awareness and just straight-up common sense. Even I probably could have handled the situation better, lol.

I have thought about watching Skelter+Heaven for a while, it's the worst rated anime of all time after all (at least on MAL). I just might give it a watch tomorrow and tell you about how I felt while watching it.

Unfortunately, I don't know what the backstory behind the creation of MoD was. Nonetheless, I can't but concur with you on saying MoD is relatively better. In fact, MoD is basically a Shakespearean masterpiece compared to Ex-Arm.
IrrelevantGuy Mar 14, 2021 9:16 PM
Here's a summary of how the masterpiece that is Ex-Arm was created~

Usually, you would expect someone who is actually experienced with the anime industry to direct an anime, right? However, the director of Ex-Arm, Yoshikatsu Kimura, is NOT an anime director. Hell, he didn't even have any experience in animation. He is mainly a live-action filmmaker who has made some B-rated action movies in the past, all of which have been very poorly received by the critics and the audience. So, why was this role given to him? Apparently, they thought it was a good idea for a live-action filmmaker to direct a 3D anime because they would understand the 3D atmosphere better, and I don't know how they came to that conclusion.

Okay, Ex-Arm was doomed right from the start, but still, how did it become THIS bad? Well, do you know what happened next? Apparently Kimura REFUSED to work with people who are actually experienced in anime and retained a team that he worked with in the past, who aren't experienced in animation either. Visual Flight isn't an anime studio, nor an animation studio. They have mostly created character models and environment. But it gets even worse. Kimura thought it was smart to spend MOST of his budget hiring stuntmen just to shoot motion capture, and he was left with very little money left to do everything else. So, as you would expect, this dumpster fire was created.

Have you ever experienced something like Ex-Arm before? Or at least something close to it? I sure haven't.
