THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Episodes 3-6 were streamed on Amazon Prime Video in Japan on January 12

kinda predictable that Tsukasa wouldn't be erased that easily, even tho the risk was there
was wondering if he had been erased for real, how would the story develop, but oh well

I saw quite a few comments saying that Tsukasa was faking his emotion towards Hayashi so that he could seek the chance to crush Hayashi’s mind. So far I don’t agree with this point.
Remember that Tsukasa suggested Hayashi to create more ‘babies’ for the company in the last episode? I think his intention was to persuade Hayashi to submit to the company so that they can stay together. But he’s was mentally crushed when he realized that Hayashi will probably never put him over Satoru & Meiling even though Hayashi did so mostly out of guilt. That’s why he chose to die with him.

Neither do I think that Tsukasa planed for letting Hiroki save him. He asked Katsuragi to bring his body back to Hiroki if anything bad happen to him mostly because he didn’t want Hiroki to experience the same tragic fate of waiting for the one he loves forever as he knew how miserable & pathetic that would be.
So far Tsukasa seems to treat Hiroki like his little brother / kid whose ability is also useful to him. I think, at least in part, there’re some sincerity there. And the fact that Hiroki saved Tsukasa by allowing him to enter his own peak will probably deepen Tsukasa’s feelings about him in the future.

To be honest, I was a bit teary during the end of the ep.

So, suicide attack was out of calculation even for Hayashi, the root of the party.

I think they should do more usual mission before diving into the main character's drama. But I understand that this is just one-cour anime so I can't have all the good thing.

Yup, Tsukasa had a sneak attack planned all along. Worked quite well.
Glad to see Hiroki bringing Tsukasa back. Wonder if Hayashi is out for good.

Hiroki was awesome again, but I am more curious about Hayashi. I want Hayashi to be safe, or else I'd feel too bad for Satoru.

Once you get used to the show, it's amazing. The low MAL score is indicative of a lot of people just not paying attention while watching it. It's not a show that will spoon-feed you everything. You have to put the pieces together that it gives you. That, and maybe a lot of people aren't with the Yaoi vibes which I can respect, personally not a fan myself but the story and world are good enough to overlook it.

Looks like Tsukasa has it all "according to Keikaku", and the feud that started the bloodbath between him and Hayashi.

With the "pet" we get to see more of the interlink between the locks and the images: take for example, with Hiroki, Tsukasa's pet, they may have a image (which reflects sensitivity and speed), but without a strong lock, their memories (peaks and valleys) are easily manipulated. So a strong lock is something like a safeguard for someone being in control, but not totally in full control of. Since Tsukasa's of the water element, a "back door" trick is his gateway to even out with Hayashi.

Thank God (I suppose?) there's Katsuragi to help facilitate Tsukasa's "last wish" after being "crushed" together with Hayashi. And Hiroki isn't all that happy about it, and dives into his memory to find him and restore his peak, thank the heavens for such a pet like him.

Wondering what really happened on Hayashi's side.

I'm really awed by this show. I think Tsukasa is a well-written character, we never really know just exactly what he feels or thinks, but after this episode, it's clear that he cares about both Hayashi and Hiroki. I don't think he planned to get himself crushed along with Hayashi when he began this mission. Just like Hayashi was determined to bring Tsukasa along with him and Satoru, Tsukasa was determined to have Hayashi stay with him. But Tsukasa didn't like that Hayashi tried to overwrite his memories, even if his intentions came from a good place. So worse case scenario, Tsukasa ended up crushing both of them because what he truly wanted would never come true. While he didn't plan for this to happen, he knew from the beginning that this could happen, and while he acts as if he only keeps Hiroki around as his pet, he does actually hold some affection for Hiroki. Knowing that Hiroki is emotional and a kid, Tsukasa didn't want to break his promise to him in that he would return.

While Tsukasa was surprised that Hiroki fixed his peak, the audience definitely wasn't ^^ The peaks are so beautiful...I love the feeling you get when you see the contrast from valleys to peaks.

Hayashi really knows how to use his powers, Katsuragi was still in his control after being crushed. Who is Matasa? I'm also glad Katsuragi followed Tsukasa's last wish, though I suppose, he was just really spooked at what happened and didn't know any other way to deal with Tsukasa's body.

I think his back up plan is that flash drive he put into Katsuragi's pocket. That "uncle Matasa" must be some big shot.

The fights I like being more a literal mind game than a power level contest. Ep.6 had a lot of good visuals to express the themes present throughout the show. I like how making people your "pet" makes them inclined to whoever "owns" them out of a sense of devotion rather than something dumb like a straight up attraction. Quite enjoyed this episode. Looking forward to see how Hayashi turns out.

Fuuuuuck I accidentally clicked 1/5 instead of 5/5.

Oh well.

Yeah this show is really bloody good. I'm really enjoying the psychological perspective. It's such a great concept and they're executing it really well. The whole psychological battle was awesome.

Do we think it's possible to 'uncrush' people by resharing your peak with them or is it only people who haven't been completely crushed?

This show is really terrifying how all of this could lead to. Strong ones always prey on the weak. And every strong one has someone above them.

This episode is great, looks like Satoru will be taken advantage by that chinese girl.
They really nailed Katsuragi freaking out, you could feel his nervousness.

Facial expressions and the psychological battles were great in this episode.

"Babies" are (young) obedient empaths who've been thought how to form an image.

The company has a need for them because they can do complex mind work.

As his image is 'wind', he would have contrived the name from an old novel.

This is literally the same thing you said last episode! Yeah, there's definitely an audience that will find this show too taxing. I've found myself putting off watching this very episode because I wanted lighter fare after tough days at work. Most people could use a bit more Yaoi in their lives.

Hopefully Hayashi would be saved. From what I can see, the only way to do that now is by Tsukasa doing what Hiroki did to him since Tsukasa's and Hayashi's peaks are linked as well.

I wonder if Hiroki would do more jobs from the company now that he knows Tsukasa can be in danger.

But after Hiroki saved Tsukasa and shared his peak, is Tsukasa the pet now?I doubt that.

Would've been a cool twist if Tsukasa had been crushed for real, but I guess it makes sense to have the possibility to save someone under specific circumstances.

Ok, the episode was good until the last part, it was pretty lame, forced and anticlimatic. 2/5

This has gone way beyond the inception movie. Its difficult to tell whos peak is peak and whos doors are still closed or been broken into and memories over written. I sense we building to something wild, but trying to keep track of it makes my brain melt. Love it.
