This show has such great pacing, it's not too rushed and not too dragged out. I hope we get a season 2.

The episode even if it seems serious, I found maybe a little too full of comedy. This however did not affect the usability of the story, even made me appreciate even more Narses and Daryun. The first two have entered the "party", now we need those who help with the attack. LOL
Pleasant ending a little less the opening.

Was I the only one hoping those soldiers had fallen into a pit of snakes? Detestable mercs with no loyalty, the lot of them. Still, Narsus was pretty badass in setting up the entire thing. You can totally tell that he's not one to use brute strength in his stratagem, but relies heavily on psychological warfare. Still..... his paintings are atrocious! Arslan, what the heck were you thinking?!?!!

Now the walls of your palace are going to look like some 3 year old scribbled all over them!

Looking forward to seeing more of Tahamenay, and to learn more about their family's backstory.

Maybe it's Arakawa's art style that tricks me, but I always expect the comedy moments to make me laugh and they don't. If the show can't pull them off I'd rather they just kept it serious and epic. I also expected Arslan to promise to free all slaves and then he comes out with the Court Painter thing... I must say I was a tad disappointed.

I wonder how Arslan will manage being a king with no army.

It looks like abolishing slavery will have to wait for now in his agenda, as Narsus becoming the Court Painter comes first.

Yeah slavery should take a step back for the court painter .... pshhhhhhh

I totally think that narsus is Arslan's father ... just putting it out there. That explains that fact that Arslan has white hair and purple eyes while the king has black hair and black eyes (which are dominant). Also the king's blatant coldness to his "son" and the fact that the queen keeps Arslan at a an "arm's distance" as the anime put it. I mean obviously this isn't an original thought but i need to state this for the record so I can say i called it :P

Definite similarities to Akatsuki no Yona.

I was thinking something along the same lines. It would also explain why the king threw out Narsus, despite his impressive strategic victory.

OP definitely grows on you. ED still infinitely better. I normally stop right when ED kicks in but I listen to the end each time with this series.

Narsus' voice is sex. Narsus and Daryun is friendship goals.

Damn, a rumor can start and end wars.

Daryun is a sly bastard for forcing Narsus into joining them, but Arslan thought of a better way in convincing Narsus.
I’m always searching for something, for someone. This feeling has possessed me I think, from that day… That day when the stars came falling.

Arslan uses "Appeal to Vanity"
It's super effective!

Heh, ok, that's (kinda) not the real reason but it was my first thought when he made the offer.

Five years ago is not "ancient history", definietly not.

I like the friendship between Daryun and Narsus. The remind me a little of Shuuei and Kouyuu in Saiunkoku Monogatari.

Amusing episode, but its turning out to be a Yona copy without a really good lead. And instead a generic nice kid prince.

Well played Arslan, well played. He might not be the warrior his father is, but he shows wisdom and a judgment of character way beyond what we saw from the King.

I agree. And now Arslan's going to grow up directly advised by a slavery abolitionist! :D I cannot think of a better influence.

Goodness, I wish the anime would show us how bad the paintings were.

So at this point we have near-expies of Zhao Yun (Daryun) and Zhuge Liang (Narsus). This is getting awfully Three Kingdoms-y. Not that that's a bad thing.

Arslan would appoint Narsus as court painter? Lol I did not see that coming. I was expecting him to offer that he will free all the slaves. How bad are his paintings anyway? Maybe he just likes to draw abstract art haha.

It seems like they're implying that Narsus makes some risqué painting, which is why I'm guessing they don't show them, but it's just probably something silly. Speaking of Narsus, he's quite a character lol.

His strategy for dividing the three kingdoms would not have worked if either side was communicating with the other; which they would have been doing as they were in an alliance.

Not a fan that Narsus is supposed to be a genius strategist and swordsman while also being painted as a paragon of virtue. If he is that smart I'm assuming he already figured out that the king must already be dead and just isn't telling Arslan.

Everyone on Arslan's side is a bit too good at the moment.
