Fun fact - Arslan's seiyuu is the same as Su-won from AnY.

The first half was abit slow and well abit boring tbh, things picked up in the second half though.

The King is an idiot for ignoring Daryun and falling for that obvious trap.

King's pride will be his downfall.

Well wow Daryun's beast.. For some reason im getting Akatsuki no Yona vibe from this episode... Now that i think about it. The plot its a bit similar but this is probably way darker =3=

Damn after watching episode 2 of Arslan Senki, I can't choose which one the best anime is this season! This season rocks! So much great anime! This episode was great! OP and ED are catchy!
Didn't see that betrayal coming from Kharlan! Daryun is OP as hell! Next episode the King dies?! Can't wait for it! Yashasuiin!!

I would say that this episode perfectly portrayed how important it is to know when to retreat when the situation calls for it.

Arslan actually did well considering it was first battle and the first enemy soldier to ever kill, it was rather sad that Kharlan betrayed them, but I was expecting someone to do it in the end and Daryun was really badass in the end of the episode.

Uverworld are back, I love the op!

Anyway, great war scenes. They're doing a pretty good job, imho.
But in the anime this impression of mine is even stronger: Daryun's chara design reminds me way too much of Kimblee. Not good, Arakawa-sensei!

The king kinda deserved that. I don't see how he was so successful with such a foolish attitude.

I think on previous battles the King prioritized numbers over strategy, or so it seems.
I liked the actual battle. CGI is till bad and distracting and the animation is decent. I expected more given the epicness of the trailers, but hey, it's only the second episode.
I like how Arslan is actually quite a good swordsman, I wasn't expecting that :o
Also, ED song is actually better than the OP, which I was totally hyped for since they announced it was gonna be an Uverworld song, but it was... okay I guess? I don't think is fits the show. Maybe Akatsuki no Yona ruined epic opening songs for me since ANY's was perfect. Oh, well.

I am gripped by this series already.

They've already done so much to develop the type of upbringing Arslan has had and who the trustworthy are surrounding him. I knew things were going to be a blood bath the second I heard the king's arrogance and over-confidence. Horrid turn of events for the Pars army but oi! what a trap!

how can an idoit-like King won so many wars? he's just a complete idiot when it comes to warfare...........
Despite the confused situation, Arslan did really well

Great episode! Pretty interesting setting imo. While I kinda wanted the battle to be wrapped up by the end of this episode so we could see the aftermath in ep 3, that's fine since the pacing was super solid.

While it was Predictable mainly just to show how arrogant and blinded by power the current king is or that's how i took it,nice to see Arslan is capable of defending himself just barely at his age

wasn't to sure about this but seeing this episode has got me excited if they keep it up battles are like some total war shit! plus the ED is so good

The trap was obvious but that bloody massacre was still awesome to see :)

Daryun is definitely my favourite character so far. Dat ending was badass!

Yeah, that was a fantastic ep!

ED is better than OP.

The king truly does have a harsh attitude towards his "son". Liked the craziness of that war, and luckily Arslan held out in time for Daryun.

I normally like Uverworld, but I didn't enjoy the OP theme as much as i wanted to. They've had better songs...

Pride comes before the fall. King Andragoras is a friggin fool! =/ Love the depiction of the horrors of war tho. That oil scene was all kinds of messed up, but it felt very epic.

Daryun going in to rekt everyone next week. Can't wait!

Arslan did really well, despite his shock and the several losses he saw, he managed to give himself some time against one of the top ranks.

It makes you wonder how the Pars army has been undefeated when they don't even have a strategist and the king is brute with no brain.

This anime reminds me of the game Suikoden 5 but at least over there the kingdom's tactician was exiled to spare her life due to political pressure instead of just because of the king's idiocy.

Good episode, it felt really short. I like Daryum and his uncle. Looks like they are loyal and supports Arslan. Kings who have great accomplishments under their names use to be arrogant ( at least in anime/literature) so it's not a big surprise he fell for the trap. Though it's pissing me that we have a TRAP as main character...

I must appreciate really good OST, OP and characters voices. UVERworld is automatically + 2 for me. Although ED feels very generic as any other asian pop songs. I don't like it.

On the other hand I can't help but feel Kingdom vibes although it still has a long way to go to be on par with it.

Nothing new here in terms of story; standard tropes like the King too proud to consider sound advice, expected betrayal, and the (not so)weak main character. Still I'm loving this adaption, and it's handling the execution very well. Good pacing, nice character build up and awesome soundtracks used non intrusively. Probably my top show this season after FSN, hope it doesn't disappoint!

Average at best. They foreshadowed everything WAY too much, to the point where what will happen bacame obvious. Also, didn't like the representation of the battle at all. It has some positive points, but I expected a lot more.

Wow! This will be the down fall of the foolish king. How can he sacrifice so many lives just for the sake of his pride (so sad!). I hope Prince Arslan doesn't become a ruler like him. (just kidding, it's so obvious that he takes nothing after his father (hint hint)). It hurts to see our naive little prince being hit with reality. He lost his first three loyal minions AND got betrayed by someone that was in such a high position (tell me who didn't see this coming? , lol). Oh well, Daryun came to save the day and he looked awesome doing so! He's probably the best character in the series!! I'm looking forward to what kind of Kingdom Prince Arslan is going to rule (":

What excellent episode, first half calm, but after showed a little of the characters' personality, as Daryun, the King and even from Arslan during the preparation for war

The second half was quite exciting, the tension of war and the deaths on the battlefield left the most dramatic episode, then Arslan is pursued and Daryun appears to save him, I am very much looking forward to watching the next episode as well as the manga that certainly I will read too ..
