I feel like the overdid the CGI a little, but oh well, that many soldiers are hard to animate I guess.

Story seems good though, and I like the characters.

>Studio: LIDEN FILMS x SANZIGEN

You better get used to it, the show will have a lot of CG so it even need to put Sanzigen's name in studio side.

I came here because Nanatsu no Taizai :D
It's funny that they already made an OVA about Arslan Senki and now it gets remade into an actual TV series.

Now this is worth the hype, unlike Seraph. Very interesting, a naive prince gets to know how it really goes in a war. He was raised with protection, reminds me of Akatsuki No Yona and the princess.

CGI was really awkward. Esp the CG Soldiers was just disgusting and they all looked the same. Aside from that, it has the potential to be great so i'll keep watching. Esp when Maaya is in this.

The art and animation is pretty nice, the CGI didn't bother me. Arslan is adorable, but he looks like a chick sometimes. This show has a lot of potential, I'm expecting something great.
The ED is beautiful. Eir Aoi <3

Actually,it could be much worse.
First Berserk movie and Kingdom have really terrible CGI.
This was not good, but far from terrible.

Great start I thought. I sense great things from Arslan character development :D

The characters look similar to Fullmetal alchemist explains a lot that it's the same person who originally design FMA characters.

That's quite amazing episode! Everything was absolutely spot on, except the 3D CGI. It's pretty bad. Please be more than 30 episodes(maybe around 50 episodes).

I cannot really quite comprehend why this episode's rating is pretty low? Is it only because of the bad 3D CGI?
I like anime.

Lol is Arslan a gender-bent Yona?

Well hopefully he develops into a badass prince, and comes to terms with the world he lives in.

A very interesting and highly enjoyable first episode, it successfully introduces all the aspects that has the potential to make an excellent story. However, as much as I love Arakawa-sensei's art, I do wish Arslan's character design was a little less "moe" (and can't help miss the OVA-art). Other characters were drawn suitably well though.

lHas anyone watched the 90s OVA adaptation, and if so why is it so poorly rated? I hope this gets a 2 cour treatment.
Apparently it was rushed a lot and there was too many time skips which killed characterization.
I can confirm that happens to be true. For instance, this series premiere is a significantly better start compared to episode 1 of the OVA, which is rather confusing.

And for the people wondering whether it's like Yona...er, I can assure you the similarities are few and far between, it's more of a complex story of war and politics, and less of a shoujo adventure.

Or has it become something mandatory to say, that if you see any sort of CGI it's automatically bad.

The thing about good CGI is that it should not be noticeable.
The only bad CGI in this episode was the guards running in town, most of the battle at the start was CGI too and it was quite well done.

It was a good episode. My only issue is the jarring CGI and that they made Arslan look too feminine lol. (Like really, are they trying to please the fujoshi by making it easier for them to ship him?)

As for me, I didn't like the CGi because it was too apparent.

Arslan is such a cutie pie!! Kobayashi Yuusuke nailed the soft voice.

You can tell that the writing is excellent, I mean, the original material must be very outstanding, wish I could read it from official translation... :( But now, I really wonder how far they can get in the story. Arakawa is now back to work but it can't help that the manga is a monthly one...

Well nothing really new in this first episode, very cliche stuff that we've seen everywhere and I know it's because this is a very old story.
I'm really dissapointed by the lack of BLOOD though, this is a medieval type setting
I don't care if it's a shonen, without BLOOD this kinda lacks credibility.

The Opening is great.

It felt like watching those Hollywood epic like Troy or Kingdom of Heaven. At least the soundtrack.

I don't mind the CGI during the war but I just had to laugh when they CGI the soldiers running through the city street, I mean was that even necessary?

I went to this with low expectation but seems like I'd like it after all. Perhaps what Akatsuki no Yona should have been.

The story certainly has potential but it's still way to early to form an opinion. I'll be continuing watching that's for sure.
I think it will be interesting to see how Arslan will mature throughout the story, it seems like he won't stay a child for too long.

Good start! Arslan has a lot of opportunity for character development. He reminds me a bit of Edward Elric :3

cgi was a little dodgy at times, some of the soldiers running down a street at one point just looked awful :D But otherwise, I enjoyed it!

boring, generic, and uninspired. I need to stop getting tricked by these nice previews I should've known there was no way this anime was going to look that good and if it looks this average in the first episode it's gonna get ugly. I'll try to stick around for the hot archer girl to show up but so far this just feels like a story I've seen dozens of times before.

That was a great start for this anime. Arslan is a pretty interesting character and you see that Pars Kingdom is not a perfect kingdom. At the end, they kinda foreshadowed already that some war is going to happen, when Arslan was talking to that one commander.
What I didn't like was the CGI soldiers, that ruined the atmosphere of the anime. But overall, nice first episode.

Good episode, although it is an adaptation of the manga and not the novel it was very similar and definetly well done, even the cgi was solid for the most part.It build up a lot of things and has a lot of potential.I hope that the source material (manga) doesn't change too much things from the original novel,if it doesn't...then this could be an epic journey.
Definetly one of the better medieval anime.

Pretty nice start.

Running around the city like that. How Arslan treated the 3 kids was good, to have people that love the royal family than to have them fear the family!

I was fine with the CGI, nothing beats early Kingdom! The war starting again, can't wait for more battles and how Arslan grows!

Since I watched this without reading anything about it I must say i'm quite surprised over how much I enjoy it and the CGI wasn't so terrible that it had me thinking about it all the time which is good! I've wanted an anime like this for quite some time now since we don't seem to get a decent anime for Kingdom. (which I want REALLY bad).

Looking forward to the next episode!

Definitely has potential. Two of my favorite fantasy series (12 Kingdoms and Seirei no Moribito) also had pretty generic starts, so I hope this show can break free of the mold and make a name for itself.

Gotta agree that the brief scene with the CGI soldiers running through the street was awful.

I don't think this one is bad so far. The plot isn't anything new right now and Arslan is a little too childish for me (and I don't think the timeskip will change that), but there isn't anything I dislike about it. I expected the animation to be a little crappy given the studio, but it's nowhere as distracting as their previous stuff.

Arslan reminds me a lot of Yona in how naive they both are in the beginning. Probably won't last for long though, he's going to need to grow up quickly if he wants to save his kingdom from ruin

I'm still confused why people were loathing Arakawa's art before the series aired. If they're going to claim it looks generic, I should show them actual generic anime character designs

If they don't make Arslan grow up fast I'll hate his guts. I mean, I already do, but he might grow up, just like Yona did.

If they, however, keep him as naive, save everyone, love and eternal peace type of guy I may even drop this show. I couldn't stand Arslan in this episode, a full season of it would be just too much.

Enjoy the show so far. One of the few new anime which has potential.
Really like the main character. A good natured boy, cute and kind. Oh, and he smiles a lot! x)
Interesting first episode. Beats Owari no Seraph and Gunslinger Stratos imo.

I don't understand why people complain so much about CGI. To make the best CGI needs learning and process. How do we expect the staffs to make great CGI if they're not even allowed to try...

Well it was okay :)

Didn't like how the blond guy wanted everyone to belief in his god... hate it when someone tries to force his religion on you... even though wanting equality is good, the way they do it is just irritating and wrong...

Anyway that prince is just too submissive ^^" He should have at least tried to fight back and run away instead of going with the flow...
