The Cakeverse is a darker BL subgenre that reimagines instinct and desire in a unique way. In this universe, people are born as Cakes, Forks, or Normals. Cakes are ordinary in appearance but possess an irresistible sweetness: their blood, sweat, or even skin taste delicious to Forks, who have lost the ability to taste anything else. This creates a deep, instinct-driven craving that often blurs the line between affection, hunger, and obsession. Normals remain unaffected by these urges. A Cake usually doesn’t know their nature until they meet a Fork who recognizes them, and from that moment, their connection becomes both dangerous and intimate. Stories set in this world often explore themes of desire, predation, consent, and dependency, mixing sensuality and horror in equal measure — sometimes unsettling, sometimes strangely beautiful.
