In my opinion, the best LGBTQ+ manga to date, dealing with the issue of how integrated homophobia has become in society. Follows the story of a single dad raising his daughter learning about the death of his twin brother who was estranged from his family. One day, his dead brother's Canadian husband shows up at his door in an effort to connect with his former spouse's family. Explores the differences in culture between the countries, and the different types of discrimination.

So far, the only accurate depiction of a non-binary human I have found in manga that isn't an alien. The story revolves around Mogumo, a non-binary loner who is recruited for a maid cafe by a guy in their class. There, they learn about the different reasons people cross-dress, and learn to accept themself for who they are. Stick with it for the first few chapters, I swear it gets better.

Probably the best lesbian romance manga out there. It follows a teen who has never felt love, even when confessed to, and who eventually gives up, only to meet a mysterious and intelligent girl who is the class president. The class president confesses to her, but wishes to stay friends, and the story is about how they learn to accept each other and have a better relationship together.

A manga about two trans teens who learn from each other. Have not read this yet, but it is said to have great MtF representation, but really bad FtM representation. Will update when I have read it.

A memoir the author wrote about her experience with mental illness, eating disorders, and eventual acceptance about her sexuality. Is drawn in a very simplified way, but is very emotional and really makes you think. Has a sequel manga titled "My Solo Exchange Diary".
Trigger warning for minor sexual content, nudity, prostitution, suicidal thoughts and eating disorders.

Story about a transboy coming to terms with his gender and expressing himself through street fashion. Have not read this yet, but have heard great things about it.

A teen boy comes out as gay only to face bullying at his school. Driven to a place despair, he thinks about ending his life but is interrupted by a mysterious woman named "Anonymous" who leads him to an LGBTQ+ support group who renovate houses. There he learns to accept himself for who he is as he listens to the people around him and learns from them.
This is a great story with beautiful visual metaphors that I cannot recommend enough. Unfortunately, due to the bankrupcy of the manga magazine it was published in, the ending is a bit rushed and doesn't answer all of the readers questions.
Trigger warning for severe homophobic and transphobic language, bullying, suicide, sexual assault, and a non-violent hate crime.

This is a fantastic one-shot about a Murai, a lovestruck young woman, who starts dating her crush Mine after she drunkenly confesses to him. Mine reveals that he is asexual, and tells her that while he loves her, he cannot provide sexual intimacy, and does not want to kiss.
While there are other manga with asexual characters that are longer than these 46 pages, I recommend this one because it focuses on building up Mine as a main character. Their relationship is one Murai is happy to be in, but she can't help but crave physical intimacy for him.
It is definitely very sad, but the representation is respectful (apart from one off comment) and the story is about a couple who truly love each other, but just don't expect the same things in a relationship. I highly recommend this one.
