Anime for Dummies

A friend of mine wanted to get into anime, but when he started to search anime online he was bombarded by recommendation from any anime imaginable. I feel that a lot of people wants to give their opinion about anime, especially an anime that they really like. For a new fan its just a bit overwhelming.
I recommend going from top to bottom, since its easier for new fans to be entertained by it without going down the rabbit hole. I also give a dummy version of the story.
Hopefully this list helps someone that just wanted to get into anime, but doesn't know where to start.
FYI if you're not a newbie then you probably have watch all of these anime.
