Sometimes we need a little break from all the screaming and ambitious fighting so that our taste-buds get a chance to reprogram themselves. And for that we need anime which are more or less episodic, follows a simple yet interesting story. The story should be having more than one basic elements so that despite being slow and plot oriented and without any adrenaline rush, we mustn't feel bored. For the ones who like to keep it simple and try staying away from the unwanted and unnecessary vocal exercises, a haunting calmness is what's required. So, for those I would like to share this list, especially for the newbies of this community who want to see if there's something other than the media greats.

Starting off with one of my favourite anime of all time. Its pretty hard to beat this when it comes to pure serenity. Its a beautiful series describing the life of individuals and how they are living amicably with the other forms of life (Mushi=Bugs, but here its similar to a primitive form of life, like the Amoebas). The main character is kind of a doctor who travels and experience the simple yet fascinating lives of such people. The calmness of this anime is haunting and it has music that's properly matches the theme. Do remember to watch all the seasons and OVAs.

I love the voice of Hiroshi Kamiya and this might not be his best voice acting role, that crown is taken by Levi from AOT and Araragi from Monogatari Series but Natsume's Book of Friends is certainly one of the anime which holds an important place in his already feather-filled cap.
This anime is simple yet gives a profound message that you might not have been fortunate enough to have the greatest of happiness but if you have received kindness and try to give it back in your own beautiful way, life will fill your heart with a special indescribale feeling. A supernatural anime that shows the bonds among people and Yokai alike with a pinch of sadness is a flavour you certainly will enjoy. Think of this as the Vesper Martini of anime; sweet in the beginning, bitter at the end yet you can't get enough.

Ah! Yes, let's increase the tone to a little more serious. This is a beautiful movie nonetheless and if you prefer dub then congrats it has one. The tone is more towards the dark side; its a story about how despite being in a situation of life which seems unbearable in that moment and you feel like ending it, the story is never quite the same when you actually face the unknown after the suicide. The story is a supernatural one where you'll meet the one who is already on the other side and you'll start to reconsider your choices learning their point of view. This theme is especially very legible in this overly sensitive generation. Did I mention the animation is pretty as well?

After a serious overtone lets come down to a more lighthearted story. Ah! Lovely highschool with all the budding dreams but this is where our protagonist comes and breaks the convention by being a total pessimistic bum. But wait! here comes our lovely female lead and breaks his convention and makes him more "Excited" about things. This is a lovely, simple mystery story you'll love with the beautiful animation of Kyoto Animation.

I am unsure if I can convince you to watch this after the heavyweight entries before but let's say this is a story similar to that of Natsume's Book of Friends but with a more fun overtone. You can read about it more at the description but I will tell you what I liked about it: its too simple, yeah that's it. There probably are some serious moments but in the end its just a simple episodic series. And no! Its not a BL. Two handsome guys together don't make a BL!
