The reason I use the term "90%" whenever I talk badly about animu is that it's well deserved. Atleast; with adult anime, you can try to enjoy the sex. Here's the reason why 90% of anime FAIL. HARD. Along with the reasons why "Gar on the Green Planet" DOESN'T:

* The story's gotta be well-written, fun, progressive, edge-of-ya-seat, and smart. Why is A here? What does B do in C situation? This show does well for a story about, pardon my English, "a Space Nazi being stranded on Waterworld and trying to adjust to the culture of Shipfreighters."

* You're not here to laugh at the characters' pain or struggle. You want to watch them achieve, grow, learn, and get along with each other. I personally like that ideological clash between Red (who spent all his life fighting dangerous space squids) and the people on Earth (who spend all their lives at the side of holy squids). I also like Red because doesn't whine like a little punk (like every other animu male lead out there).

* Expectations & G375. (Quoting Muneakira of "Samurai Sluts,") LIKE I SA~I~D!! [AMERICA IS NOT JAPAN!!] People came in and thought this is gonna be either mecha show or a "slice of life" animu. Like we can't have both. Crap like Infinite Stratos focused too much on being a "harem animu with a useless self-insert male lead" and messed up instantly. This show, on the other hand, had some brains behind it and knew what it was doing.

My hope is that it'll get a proper boat ride towards a US localization; English dubbing and all. It's a shame that it's being overshadowed by "Attack On Titans" and such.
