Shiki (Anime) add (All reviews)
Apr 17, 2013
Wow, this was excellent, i'd give it a 9/10

the character building isn't as intense as most anime i watch but it was enough to make you emotionally involved with the 2sides' struggles. Good stories will always do this, where you are unable to distinguish what side your're on! Shiki really focused on human nature and its inability to be fully/wholly logical beings. In built predjudices to the diffrent/unfamiliar and explores ethical reasoning for murder/killing.
I found that for me there was an psychological and philosophical theme/focus in the storyline which made it a darker more sinister anime. The simplicity of the shiki also was a triumph in my eyes as sometimes anime can go too far with supernatural beings, having outrageously unrealistic powers, which only serve a negative impact on the story in that its less believable. There is a very humanistic approach to the vampires in this anime, in that they really could exist in reality. its a very classic image of the vampire which for serious fans of Vampyr will love.
