ef- a Tale of Memories is by far one of my favorite animes. It is beautiful in just about every aspect. It's everything I could ever ask for from an anime series.
Story: The story revolves around two different love stories, connected only by two of the characters being twins. There's the story of unspoken childhood love that turns into a love triangle. Then, there's the story of a boy making a new friend only to find out that she has a memory defect that allows her only to remember the last 13 hours. I found the first story to be very cliche and at times quite boring. But it did have a few aspects that made it unique and enjoyable. The second story was my favorite because it was so original, beautiful and quite emotional.
Art: The animation in ef is beatiful beyond words. The character designs are perfect and detailed very precisely. Not a single in this anime is lacking any detail. It also does a good job of portraying the emotion the characters are feeling through many different aspects.
Sound: The voice actors did a fantastic job when it came to the emotional scenes. They did such a wonderful job, I was nearly in tears throughout most of the series. The opening fits the series so perfectly. For the first time, I actually watched the opening all the way through.
Character: The characters are very three-dimenstional and unique. They each develope at a nicepace throughout the series. I found them to be all unique and very ejoyable, although sometimes I just wanted to knock their face in. But that's all a part of bein a good character.
Enjoyment: I definitely enjoyed this anime. Each week I waited on pins and needles for the next episode to air. While I found Kei's story to be pretty enjoyable, Chihiro's was definitely my favorite and sadness story. She had to face the same hardships and deal with her illness.
Overall, I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys romance and anime and can appreciate beautiful animation and wonderful storyline.
