Overall I think that this is a pretty good second season and that it's pretty similar to the first. That is to say, there's still a bunch of fanservice and the anime still sucks at time management. So much so actually that in this season they finish a fight way too early and have to show clips of it in the following episodes to make sure that the timeline actually matches up. Another weak part of this season is that it has pretty long recaps on some episodes, up to 3 and a half minutes excluding the opening, which might be fine if you're watching an episode every week but really isn't if you're watching them back to back.
The most important part of the anime however is its story and I think it's still good. Not all episodes are equally enjoyable and "because Erza" isn't a valid answer to my questions but the large storylines are still really cool and make the anime enjoyable to watch. There are several instances of deus ex machina but in the context of this anime it doesn't seem to bother me at all.
The characters are also still great and get quite a lot of development. Near the end of the season there's actually a few episodes that go into more detail about the past that tie a lot of threads together very nicely and were some of the best episodes so far.
The artstyle is similar to the first season and so is the music. Some music choices seemed slightly odd but they definitely suit their respective scenes and I ended up being able to predict what music would play in some of them just by what was happening.
Overall you'll probably enjoy this if you liked the first season which you hopefully did if you sat through 175 episodes of it. The story is still good and everything else is similar enough that you'll probably like it.
