Back to the Great Ming is a Chinese CGI Isekai where MC is reincarnated into a poor village scholar by the name Yang Lin. Along with his adopted sister he begins trying to better his living situation and finds himself in Ming dynasty's Wuming Post where he quickly rises up the ranks of society using the knowledge of his past life. Along his journey Yang Lin encounters struggles relating to politics, war and love interests where he tries his best diligently.
Story & Character: 7/10
The story is your average isekai reincarnation from a modern world to ancient world but the main character uses his knowledge of modern medicine, politics and strategy in order to improve his living situation and the people close to him. So far the story is enjoyable with its fair share of obstacles and triumphs. The story scale is kept minimal with a small but concentrated amount of characters and a story that occurs by situations where Yang Lin is required to solve them. It is surface level but very digestible without the heavy plot focus on Chinese Wuxia elements like cultivation or martial arts.
Art & Sound: 8/10 & 6/10
The art is one of the better ones I've seen in terms of CGI Chinese animation with its detailed characters and environments.
Sound design is decent by modern standards but nothing extraordinary.
Overall & Enjoyment: 7/10
Yang Lin isn't an overpowered powerhouse with cheat skills but he does have the power of modern knowledge which he uses regularly and when he does, it ends with satisfying results. It's not a masterpiece with its very shallow plot focus but it is one of the better Chinese Animation story, character and art wise I've seen in a while. Overall, good watch I don't usually make reviews for in-progress anime but I am compelled to write one given how criminally low members this series has.
