Mixed Feelings
Noir is a story about two heroines with the name sake title “noir” that haunts there past. Kirika and Mirelle are two main protagonist of this series. Both of them work together to solve the mysteries and identity of their enemies and uncover the truth bout there past. Not everything though is what it seems. Many complicating threads bind this tale of two girls locked in a struggle to find out who they are and where they came from. How did they receive the title of noir and what are the origins of the ones called “The soldats” that apparently have been manipulating them in this dangerous game from the very beginning.

Well the presentation of the story is rather interesting; the pacing starts off somewhat slow. It’s not really until after episode 15 when some of these mysteries really start to take shape. Viewers may be turned off by the episodic nature of the series’ first few volumes. It is about both girls going on missions, under the rule of clients that order them to assassinate certain mobsters from dangerous countries. This repetitive gunslinger action does become redundant over time and can kind of wear on you. But if you manage to stick with it, the story will slowly reveal the mysteries surrounding the soldats and the title noir. The ending really didn’t hit me hard as something spectacular, I found it be actually rather confusing and didn’t really fall into the theme of the show.

Yuki Kajuro does most of the background music in this series. Well I do love Yuki kajuro I felt that her music was just recurrent on nearly every episode. It kind of got trying hearing the same tunes played over and over again. Well I have seen shows where she excelled like chrono crusade or tsubasa chronicles. In this show she uses the one main theme pretty much throughout the entirely of the series. There isn’t to much flavor added to the mix of music orchestral. The gun shots had for the most part the same sound effects, regardless of what guns they were carrying, that kind of got annoying to me. But it probably it won't be to bothersome for some people.

The artistic visuals of the show were nothing spectacular for its day and age. But it was presentable and acceptable. Each action for the most part uses mostly still frames instead of solid fluid animation. The visuals and the backdrops of some of the scenes were pretty exceptionally never less. During the action and the gun fights, there was some events that seem to try harder then others so that was a nice touch.

The characters in this show were a mixed bad. Kiriki at first glanced seems like a modified zombie. She barely ever talks, very little and I just felt that they could of game her more genuine role. Though I love the action involved with kirika, it is quite apparent that she exceeds mirelle in every possible way when it comes to being a notorious gunslinger. Watching her conveniently take down her enemies is very satisfying to watch. Some of these events were pretty awesome to watch. I do not like the fact that they chose to edit the action scenes to such an extent that there is literally no blood what so ever. Kind of makes the action depicted in the show seem un realistic. Mirelle on the other hand is different, she is more of an upbeat girl, still taking the role of an assassin, but the way she handles things is in a very different matter. Both girls have a dark side to them that won’t be revealed until close to the end of the story. A new character comes into play shortly after named “Chloe” she could be preferred to as the “true “assassin” she kills without any mercy and she is very mysterious individual hiding undisclosed information that the other girls want answers to. Eventually these heroines are set up like chess pieces and playing a game of cat and mouse to discover the secrets of their past.

This series may not be for everyone, but if you can get past the repetitive gun slinging action in the first half of the show you will be treated to some pretty surprising moments as each mystery is revealed to the viewer towards the end of the show.
