Even up as far as episode 10, I still held out hope that this could turn into an eight. Regularly, that never happened. What should have been done is leaving it all light-hearted and without any sort of pretend conflict.
This really comes down to a slice of life kind of magical period show. It's simply just happy and friendly, but it wasn't until episode 9 that any conflict showed up. Rather than trying to make it hardcore and deep in that little period of time with a lot of typical fighting and camaraderie etc, they just kind of sprinkled it through with each of the different bad guys before pulling them all together for a predictable and disappointing end.
What would have made it better for me? Let's at least give the poor guy some sort of romantic interest or even a close companion towards somebody. His attention is spread through so many different characters. I understand that his whole thing is about being oblivious because he always had his overpowered hometown that made him believe he was weak (why the hell didn't somebody tell him just how strong he was? I mean for the love of God people...)
Lloyd put so much pressure on himself to do what you didn't need to. Let's just give the poor guy a close relationship with one of the girls. I have my favorite, but we're all supposed to when it comes to these kinds of things. Speaking of romance, Marie gets a stalkerish character that shows up in three different places and only one of them was maybe 5 minutes. It was a really weird setup that ended up being necessary in the honest sort of way in the end, but shouldn't have been.
Slapping on a 6 and recommend because it is worth a watch for something light.
