Detective Conan Movies Rewatch Before Watching Movie 26: Movie 17

This was one of the lower-rated DC movies and I think it's underrated. Yes, this was unabashedly a propaganda movie, designed to show off Japan's military and police to younger teenagers who came to watch Conan do his thing, but it's executed quite well.

While the mystery aspect of the movie is weaker, it wasn't the movie's focus anyways. This felt more like a spy thriller, with our beloved hero having a showdown with a spy. The investigation part of the movie was well done, and the story was presented well overall, with a coherent, logical timeline, with timely thrilling scenes sprinkled so the audience is kept on edge. Kogoro finally had a chance to shine after being marginalized in previous movies. It's not just Kogoro either, most of our cast had moments to shine with excellent cooperation being displayed. Character interactions were the major strength of the movie.

My only issue of the movie was the ending, which was melodramatic, but this was an entertaining movie overall. 8/10
