Classic, solid anime. World building is great, characters are great. It's one of those classic starter anime, easy to understand and wrap your head around while still leaving you on the edge of your seat at parts. They really portray the characters amazing, even the characters you're meant to not like some how you feel like you understand them almost to a point that their crimes don't matter. On the other hand, I wish they went farther into Shinigami lore like they did in the manga but the little clips of the rules in the book help a lot. It's not too creepy as to scare away new watchers but it's definitely not always a walk in the park, there are some more dark parts to this anime that you might not catch on the first watch through.
I don't want to go too far in depth as to spoil anything about the anime or manga for those who haven't had the opportunities to watch it yet so, I will leave it there for now. Over all it's an amazing anime that anyone can get into, old anime lovers and new, it has a special story line for its time and it deserves all of the views it's gotten over the years.
