People that are not into slice of life, usually say that it's because nothing happens, and well that may be true if you're looking at a show like this from an action show POV. But it is a story. It is a story about coming of age for most of the characters, forming friendships and enjoying life. The show also knows what it is trying to tell, and throws metaphors often at you, that you might miss if you have your brain turned off for most of the show. But just notice the imagery with the turtle and rabbit sprinkled throughout the show. It is telling you to take it easy and that "fun things are fun", so enjoy them.
