Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (9/37 eps)
I'm not going to be popular with this one, but meh.

I do respect what it does, but it's not the anime for me. The main character, who we're stuck with, is annoying to be with. He's extremely paranoid and has a false moral compass. He even breaks it for the greater good. I can respect this depth, but dear God do I not want to deal with it so upfront. The smartest detective suspects the main character of killing just because I guess. No logical conclusion other than a gut feeling. Yes, please zero in on this guy because... Okay, sure the main character is the bad person, but dude, seriously... These are our main characters...

Plot: it's actually interesting, but I just couldn't get pass the characters. The plot is about a boy who hates bad people. He comes across a Death Note where you kill a person if you write their names down. He then decides that he wants to kill all the super bad criminals in the world. When a bunch of deaths start suspiciously happening, that prompts investigators to hire the best detective, L, to solve the case. The main detective suspects our guy, but he doesn't have proof. The main character knows that he's onto him, but he doesn't know his actual name, because L is an 'alias' used to keep himself under the radar. So the entire anime is about the main character trying to figure out his name so he can kill him via Death Note, while the detective is trying to get absolute proof that our guy is the killer.

If you like suspense anime and can get pass the personalities of the main characters, then this one is for you.
