I'll be honest, I watched the anime before reading the manga. Mainly because I was interested in the reverse harem story. And I got an anime worth watching. But I am not giving a review of the anime, I'm giving a review of the manga. Yes, I started reading it because I wanted more of the story and see with whom and how she ends up with someone even though I read it on the wikipedia with whom she ends up with in the end. But don't worry, I won't give any spoilers here. All you'll get is my honest to god review.

Watashi ga Motete Dousunda aka Kiss Him Not Me is a story about Kai Serinuma, an overweight otaku who after losing weight suddenly becomes the center of attention for lot of boys and girl. Among them are her classmates Igarashi and Nanashima, her senpai and fellow history club member, Asuma Mutsumi and juniors Shinomiya and Shina Nishina. At first glance, its a typical reverse-harem story where an overweight girl suddenly becomes attractive after losing weight. And you're not wrong. But after reading a few chapters, you see that you can't help but enjoy every moment of it and laugh at their various attempt at winning over Serinuma only to fail.

What I liked most about the story is the number of references of anime. I like the meta moments when an anime/manga references other anime and mangas. The second is the characters. Except for Nanashima and Shinomiya, the rest were the top contenders for Serinuma's affection and for the right reasons. Shina Nishina admired Serinuma back when she was overweight and credited her for indirectly helping her with her anxiety and insecurities. Igarashi was kind to Serinuma back when she was overweight only to fall in love with her after her transformation, and his feelings did came into question when Serinuma went back to her old self but in the end he realized that he loves Serinuma for who she is and not for what she looks like. And finally my man Mutsumi Senpai, he was the first guy to immediately recognize Sernuma after her transformation as if it didn't matter to him in the first place and would often help her during her tough times and let her down when she was making rash decisions. He realized that he was in love with Serinuma very late, but when he did, he didn't waste any time to confess to her and urged others to do the same when so that they don't fall behind or drag him down. He even turned her down when she was deciding who to go out with via video game stating that she will date the winner (even though Mutsumi himself became the winner) and stated that he would go out with her when she feels like it and not when she is forcing herself. Mind you, out of the three characters I have mentioned, one of them ends up with her.

If you like shoujo mangas with reverse-harem stories that can give you a good laugh when you need it, Then you can check it out. You'll enjoy it. Trust me. And don't search on wikipedia on who she ends up with.
